Good cheese steaks, but they may run out of bread! 10/17/2008

When we were there, they ran out of their famous CHEESE STEAK BREAD, so I had mine pureed and stuck between the sides of a Kaiser roll. Not quite the same, but still tastey. We sat outside, for maybe the last time this year. Pros: friendly atmosphere, good service, outside seating Cons: they run out! more

My favorite NYC cheesesteak 6/9/2007

Have tried pretty much all of the standard NYC cheesesteak places - Philly Slim's, Carl's, etc. The Wogie's cheesesteaks are much better - the meat in the Wogie's cheesesteaks is much better than the meat in Carl's. I love going there for a meal as well, nice to have a casual bar scene. The owners are always super-friendly as well. Although they are not authentic, I really like the cheesesteak wraps - a little healthier! Pros: My favorite cheesesteaks in the city Cons: Service at restaurant is a little slow more

Worth a try... 11/16/2006

Let me start out by saying that I'm a cheesesteak purist... I'm VERY particular about them. Allthough they are not authentic Philly-Style Steaks, they're still good. My girlfriend had the buffalo chicken sandwitch, and that was great too, but VERY spicey. This place is good for a late night sandwitch spot, the food is good, but don't expect an authentic Philly Cheesesteak, you've gotta go to Carl's Steaks on 34th and 3rd for that! Pros: Open late, good sandwitches Cons: Hard to find if you don't know it's there... more

Absolutely Delicious!!! 10/17/2006

In 2004, I visited New York for the first time. My friend lives in Greenwich Village near Woogies. The first week she showed me around NY, she introduced me to a few fine restaurants which were really nice. On the last day we stumbled across Woogies for lunch. I absolutely fell in love with their cheese steak (cheese whiz) chicken sandwiches. The following year I visited NY three times. Each visit I stopped at Woogies a few times for their sandwich and wedged fries. Occasionally, my boyfriend and I will try and duplicate the sandwich at home, but it doesn't come out nearly as tasty and Woogies Sandwiches. Let me know when you branch out to Los Angeles. Pros: Excellent Food; Great View; and Friendly People! Cons: Traveling from California to New York to visit Woogies more

Very Disappointing 8/10/2006

Went there for a happy hour dinner on a thirsty Thursday. Being from Philadelphia, I was really looking forward to authentic cheesesteaks. Steaks weren't that great, although it was nice that they offer Whiz. Fries were room tempature and hard, even after we sent them back once. The Pookie was nothing but cheap, Sysco chicken and the roles were too doughy. Draught beer is so-so. Overall, really disappointed. If they're going to taut authentic Philly steaks, they need to head back to the motherland and take a refresher course. Pros: cool benches inside, sidewalk seating, friendly service Cons: food more

Not the best experience 6/24/2006

Went to Wogies last night-not very impressed! I was with my son and his girlfriend and they felt the same way. The steak sandwich didn't have much flavor and the beer was more like cool instead of cold. The chili fries were really good though. Maybe I was just there on an off night. The waitress seemed to be trying to take care of everyone by herself, they were obviously shorthanded and maybe that's why things were not as good as I had hoped for. I'll try it again another time. more

Great Philly Cheesesteak in NYC, yes please 10/26/2005

""Yummy yummy Yummy I got woogies in my tummy."" This place dominates me to my soul. The food is so nice- I want to get my cheesesteak on right now. Grtee some serious turdaction within 4hours of consumption. I only worry that this review might bring others and cause crowding. more

Great neighborhood bar 9/9/2005

We wandered in to Wogies after walking around the city all morning...the cheese steaks were amazing - try the California -- yum! The fries were huge and crunchy and sinful. The cheap beer and great outside seats enticed us to stay the rest of the afternoon. Aaron is terrific and his staff was so friendly. Service was fast and excellent. We are definately going back again and again. Pros: Great food, Excellent Service, Inexpensive more

Flakey, but cool! 8/13/2005

The friendly staff when they could be found. When the waiter appeared, I ordered Cheese Steak and a Yuengling's. Five minutes later the waiter returned empty-handed. ""You wanted a Bud Lite, right?"" he asked. I corrected him. In 5 minutes he again returned: a beer in one hand,a cellphone in the other. The beer was a Bud Lite. The waiter immediately disappeared. When a busboy brought with my food I told him about the error. He took back the wrong beer and brought me the correct one. The place specializes in Philly Cheese Steaks-- and they are good!! I had one with CHEESE WIZ. I cudda eaten a dozen. I ordered another beer, this time I got the right one. I was not charged for the first beer, so the night ended well. Recommended!!! --Drink Club (a weekly group of NYC drinkers) Pros: excellent cheesesteak, friendly staff, outdoor seating Cons: a bit flakey more

It's OK 6/11/2005

All they really have is philly cheese steak sandwiches and wings. $7 for the cheese steak sandwich, and you don't even get fries with that. more

My Favorite Spot in the City 5/26/2005

My friend and I head to Wogies at least once a week, b/c we always have a great time. The food, drinks, and music are among the best I've found in the City & the staff always makes you feel welcome, while being fun, attentive, and considerate. This is the first place where I've ever felt like a regular. Stu also has my vote as the best bartender in the City. Pros: Music, Location, Food/Drink more

delivery can be spotty 4/30/2005

wogies has really good steaks, but the delivery can sometimes take awhile. they don't always give you standbys like ketchup, even when you've ordered fries. they've also overcharged on my credit card, which can be slightly annoying. aside from these kinks, i highly recommend. more

The Best!!!!! 4/9/2005

This place has hands down the best wings in the city. I grew up in Buffalo and was horrified at the small wings you see around the city. Wogies are big, meaty and have the best sauce! Add an order of waffle fries to your meal and you will think you've died and went to heaven. more

Great night out! 3/18/2005

I recently went to this bar with a group of my friends. It was so much fun! The service was great, the beers were cheap, and the french fries were the best I have ever had!! I think this is one of the best bars I have ever been to in NYC! more

Just recently went to Woogies with some friends to catch up and WE LOVE THIS PLACE!! Food was awesome, service was beyond friendly!! Check this place out if you are looking for a laid back, good time. Good food and cheap beers! Pros: Service, Food, Cheap drinks more

The best 2/26/2005

Best Cheesesteaks in the city, there is no better place to feed your hangover. more

The Eagle Has Landed 1/16/2005

Finally a great Philly cheesesteak in New York. Their wings and waffle fries are amazing too. If you are looking for salads or healthy eats, this isn't the place for you. The guys who work the bar are fun and make you feel right at home. Eagles fans that live in NYC now have a great place to watch the games. Pros: Inexpensive more

Dig it! 12/12/2004

The atmosphere is laid back but hip in a subtle way. Cute and friendly staff. The cheesesteakes are delic and so are the french fries!! Beers on tap are fine enough to quench that thirst! The outdoor seating is great for people watching. Great prices too. more

yummy 10/13/2004

Now, I have to admit that I've only been here once for a late lunch and other than a couple of customers at the bar, the place was empty so I really can't comment on the crowds....BUT, what a great sandwich, AMAZING french fries, cheap beer, and an excellent friendly waitress who was sure to ask if I wanted a second drink. For some reason that doesn't happen very often at lunch. I'll be back. more
