Gave Me False Hope 11/24/2007

The doctor was extremely thorough, knowledgable, and informative; however, I wish she would have been more direct and honest about my guinea pig's prognosis. It would have been difficult for me to accept that the best course was euthanasia, but I wish she would have helped me see that. It may not have been her intention, but I feel she took advantage of my desire to save him, by selling me nearly $600 dollars of diagnostics & treatments. I subjected the poor guy to the stress of poking and prodding by strangers, followed by multiple medications, treatments, forced feeding and fluid injections at home, and he died within 48 hours. Now I must live with the guilt of prolonging the suffering of someone who was obviously near his end. Euthanasia would have been much kinder to the animal and much more affordable. more

Owner Message

  • An annual physical examination is essential for the long term well-being of all your pets. This allows us to prevent many diseases or treat diseases in the early stages before they become life threatening. Geriatric animals may require more frequent exams. Also, if your pet is exhibiting any signs or behaviors which are unusual, consult your veterinarian as soon as possible. Exotic pets such as parrots, reptiles, rabbits, and rodents should have annual examinations to ensure proper health and care. A new pet should be taken to your veterinarian as soon as possible. Preventative care is as important in these pets as it is for dogs and cats. At Wildwood Veterinary Hospital, we emphasize client education along with the annual examination to provide the best health care for your pets, Vaccines are a necessary part of preventative health care for your dog and cat. A comprehensive examination of your pet and the pet's life style help to determine which vaccinations are needed and at what interval for each pet. Although we emphasize preventative care, we are available for emergency care should the need arise. Our in-house laboratory provides rapid results to allow us to diagnose your pet's problem and begin appropriate care as quickly as possible. We have complete facilities for hospitalization of our patients. In critical cases when 24 hour care is needed, we work in conjunction with the United Emergency Animal Clinic and local veterinary specialists to provide your pet the best possible care. We are a full service hospital with state-of-the-art equipment for surgery and patient monitoring. Most surgeries your pet may need can be performed at our facility. Occasionally a pet has a special need and a certified veterinary surgeon is consulted. We do not provide professional grooming, but baths and dips are available. We provide the necessary grooming on your exotic pets. We have complete indoor boarding facilities available for dogs, cats, and exotics.
