Editorial review from Citysearch 8/14/2012

tried out Who Songs last night. Took my mom to have a nice dinner on the deck. Waiter was very nice. We placed our order and waited an hour to get our simple meal. When we got our meals we didn't have silverware, so we asked if they could get us some. We waited 10 minutes and absolutely noone brought us silverware. The cooks also completely screwed up our dinner order. So we walked out. Of course at that point they want to ""help"". I haven't been there in years and heard it was a good place to eat again. Couldn't be more wrong. Will NEVER return! more

Waste of Time AND Money! 7/8/2011

Haven't eaten there for a few years. What Happened?? I orfered a soft taco with shredded beef. The waiter asked if I wanted the rice and refried beans with it and I said ok. When I got the plate, it was a hard crisp taco and what looked like a small amount of rice and beans. After complaining (waiter said I ordered the hard shell; my husband said I didn't), he brought me a soft shell taco with shredded beef (about 4 small pieces of tough beef). The taco was not rolled up, ; same shape as the hard crisp taco. Was not good at all,. And the PRICE?? Don't waste your Time or Money. more

Favorite Place for Mexican in Vancouver! 1/5/2011

Firstly, not sure about the experiences described by the other reviews - we have been going to Who Song's for over a decade and never had a bad experience. more

Poisoned! 10/2/2010

Poisoned! Margaritas and mexican food sounded like a great plan for a beautiful Saturday. We choose Who songs because it is located on the columbia and we wanted to enjoy the sun deck. The food was horrible! The margarita tasted like sweet and sour mix with a hint of tequila. The bill came $58.00 for 4 shitty drinks and a flat plate of nachos, Im talking super skimpy not like the heaping mass of yummy goodness you get at lets say Matador. So I wake up at 4am with a raging headache followed by vomiting for several hours. My Sunday was ruined and I even missed work monday to recover. The place was filthy, I wised I had left when I noticed the soap dispenser broken in the womans bath room. Don't waste your time or money. more

What Happened? 8/5/2010

This used to be such a fun place. Our kid's loved it, the waiters would sing and it was a great place for a birthday party. I don't know what happened but the sevice is horrible, the restuarant is dirty/messy, the food is inconsistant. On busy nights it seems so chaotic, like no one is in charge. It's too bad because Whosongs used to be unique. more

Nasty soup. 7/26/2010

I make excellent tortilla soup and like to try Mexican restaurant's versions. I would not serve this to a 90 year old. Nothing about it was mexican. GROSS!!! When I asked why there was no tortillas in the ""TORTILLA SOUP"" the waitress said, ""we don't have any"" She says, ""at least I put some cheese in it"" hmmmm .....nice Pros: Drinks were great! Cons: Pathetic tortilla soup and bad attitudes more

Terrible Service 7/14/2010

Lunch took us over an hour and a half. It was just me and my two kids. I had to go in and get our own napkins, silverware, and soda refils. My daugher finally got her cheese quesidilla almost an hour after we got there and after my son and I had finished the meal. No manager or anything ever came by. For the first time I LEFT NOT A PENNY for a tip. Pros: food ok Cons: terrible service more

Decent food, bad wait time 8/2/2009

I've been to Who Song & Larry's many time haven grown up here in Vancouver. Sure, like any other restaurant you have wait times. Everyone has a limit to how long they will wait and if you have ""reservations"" you don't want to wait long, nor should you have to. During a Mother's Day brunch, my sister mother and I had reservations for 10AM. We arrived a little early and waited for over an hour. People coming in after us were getting sat first. We were livid. We ended up leaving. The food is ok. Certainly not the best in town but not the worst either. Their servers are terrible how ever. I think it would be a good place to get a drink on the weekend but as for making it a regular dining experience, I'll pass. Pros: Views of river Cons: Wait time, service, parking! more

This used to be good! Haven't been in 4-5 years but what a disappointment! The place was filthy, including greasy crud all over the salt & pepper shakers. When I pointed this out to the ""manager,"" he scraped off the crud on the salt shaker with HIS FINGERNAIL! EWWWWWWWW We waited to be seated for 15 minutes with no one in the restaurant except one other table. The bathroom smelled like a sewer with standing water on the floor. I ordered steak fajitas but what I got was raw, shredded beef as if I don't know the difference ??? !!!??? The beans were cold, the rice was hard and the meat wasn't steak or even cooked through. This plate cost $18. I am appalled. THIS PLACE HAS TO BE IN VIOLATION OF EVERY HEALTH CODE! When I asked to speak to a manager, I waited 20 minutes!! There wasn't anyone in the restaurant! NASTY. What happened to the quality and cleanliness of the place? HOW ARE THEY IN BUSINESS??? I hope the free market pushes these crooks out of business before someone catches a disease. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Great Place 8/27/2008

Awesome food and service. The Guacamole appetizer was the best I''ve ever had and I am from Tucson AZ where we have a huge selection of Mexican foods. The meals are great too. more

Not a memorable meal or experience 7/28/2008

Yes, the location is great, right on the river. But the salsa was very bland, the food wasn't all the great and the service was just so-so. The parking situation is a nightmare. We won't be rushing back to Who-Song and Larry's anytime soon. Pros: view of the river Cons: parking, food not that great more

Great place right on the river 4/9/2008

Great place to go for a family dinner. yet they also have a bar and tables on the deck for the warm weather dining experience more

I grew up in Vancouver and this was one of my favorite spots....until tonight. I really do like the food and it's been known to have really bad parking.....because of the deck and the food, we put up with the parking. On a perfect summer day, great place to hang out. I do have to make note that it is a Saturday evening, so it was bound to be busy. However, it was my brother in laws 30th b-day. My sister called earlier this week to find out if they took reservations.......yes, was the she made ""reservations"" for 20. She called today at 1 pm to confirm her ""reservations"" for 7 pm this evening........was told yes, she still has ""reservations."" My sister is known for being thurough and she is really big on ""confirmations."" Because we knew it would be busy and parking would awful, we got there a little before 7 PM. My sister advised all 20 friends and family to be prompt at 7. Upon arriving, I saw my sister waiting in the lobby with her 4 year old. I myself had my 3 yr old. Those of you that have or have had a 3 & 4 yr old, should know where that's going.......anyway, we were then told that they don't do ""reservations"" and that we would need to wait 30 minutes.....and friends and family started piling in.....the lobby is roughly 6 ft x 10 ft.....45 minutes goes by and my sister finally gets up the nerve to ask why.......the Manager begins to be very rude and sassy (rolling her eyes and using hand gestures) and reminds my sister that she is doing the best she can......yes, The Restaurant Manager.....We got there at 7, got seated at 7:45 and did not eat our food until do the math. The ""welcome"" that we received was the topic for most of the evening and we ALL decided that we would NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. But then I figure that would be a relief for your understaffed restaurant. Pros: if you like roudy Cons: unprofessional customer service, understaffed more

Almost 40 of us reserved for an important event. The booking personnel were exceptionally flexible and helpful. They gave us super suggestions and tips to help make our event one to remember, from how to decorate the room inexpensively, yet with pizzaz, to timing and seating strategy. They even gave us copies of ""toasts"" we could use. You would have thought it was their own party -- they were so helpful and interested! We ordered family style - platters of frijollies (sp?), nachos, fajittas , and a platter of each appetizer to be served as dinner. We sampled every shade and blend of the marguaritas. The platters were sizzling, the drinks were frozen, Everything was good. The nachos - very good. The appetizers were excellent. And there was twice as much food as we needed. Everyone agreed the food was super!!! BUT, almost all of agreed the guacamole was the best we had ever had. Ever!!! We all agreed, a GREAT TIME. more

Who-Song and Larry's 9/8/2007

What a great place, the food was awesome, fast service and an awesome deck. I thought the food was priced well and the waitress was extremelly helpful and kind. Pros: View of water from the Deck, price of food, Cons: parking a little tight, but not to bad more

Overpriced and Gringo 7/20/2007

Perfect if you like your Mexican food overpriced and bland! I ordered the sizzling enchiladas and they were served dry and flavorless. Dry enchiladas!! I imagine this would be a great place to go and get full on drinks and nachos but NOT the place to go if you want a good hearty authentic mexican meal. The margarita menu is larger then the food menu. You'd probably love getting drunk on the patio but just don't go with hopes of eating anything delicious...and bring a credit card because this place isn't cheap! Pros: lots of drinks, outside seating Cons: expensive, limited food menu, bland food more

7/9/07 took 8 for birthday celebration of our 9 yr old grandson & 36 yr old son. They told us they had a children's menu but never offered them a menu.... just told us they had french fries and cheese quasadillas. We asked for more chips/salsa with our second round of drinks but never got them. Had a mediocre dinner.... little kids never got refills on their sodas. Chili rellenos weren't even cooked in the center... hard chilis and raw cheese inside. And the birthday song we were promised? no sombreros.... the waiter said they don't make sombreros anymore. so he brought out 2 coffee filters for their heads and said the band would be right out to sing to them. no complimentary desserts for birthday boys.... we ordered desserts for the group while we waited for the singers.... finally after 1/2 hour of waiting and having no one come around to fill water, or ask us how we were doing.... my husband went in and asked for the bill ($203.00) which we paid and left. How disappointing since we thought our 2 grandkids and the rest of the family would enjoy the singing and antics ..... guess they've given this all up at Who Song and Larry's. I didn't want to make a scene and our waiter knew I was very disappointed and promised us a better time next time. I tried calling the manager but she'd already left. I was also given the wrong e-mail address to express my disappointment. Folks - I'd suggest you buy a $10.00 sombrero and go to your local Taco Bell! Save yourself lots of $$$$ and a lot of disappointment. Pros: GREAT scenery if you sit on the patio on old plastic chairs Cons: forget about service and good food more

little red riding hood 8/23/2005

This a good place to take the kids and sit out on the patio and watch the boats on the river and have desant mexican food. Place is kind of loud but is a great place for large groups and birthday parties. For a birthday they have a band that will sing you anything from ""little red riding hood"" to the gwacamoli song"". Not quite the place for a quit night out. Pros: patio, food, band Cons: wait, noise, parking more

Laugh Your Butt Off 6/14/2004

My girlfriend and I love going to this place. Every time we go we see some off the funniest people there including their great guitarist Steve and crazy waiter Matt. The hostess area is no good with it's small room but the drinks are always good along with their seasonal chef specials. Make sure to go and sit on the deck in the sun with a Margarita and food or totaly bring in friends for their birthdays... it will be one they won't forget for a while... last time I was there I saw that waiter Matt chase a lady around and feed her guacamole that he made at the table. The whole restaurant was laughing and I will never forget it! Fun times! Pros: Crazy waiters, Food/Drink Cons: , Needs Remodel more
