I recently employed White Glove Moving to transport my belongings to my new home, and much to my dismay, their service was egregiously subpar. To begin with, their entire process lacked any semblance of order and functionality. My items were simply thrown in boxes; nothing was appropriately wrapped or secured so as to ensure the safe transport of my possessions. When my furniture arrived, it was marred with nicks, scrapes, and other forms of irreparable damage. I had much higher expectations for a company that came with such good reviews.\r In regards to customer relations, the company offers meager customer service. They have not been responsive to my complaints. Furthermore, it has come to my attention that they subversively manipulated the contract. I hired White Glove Moving in the attempt of ameliorating the moving process; unfortunately, they only made the entire process more stressful and frustrating. Overall, I was very disappointed with their inferior low-grade work and would not recommend them to anyone who values their time, money, and property.\r more

Choosing White Glove Moving for a cross-country move was the BIGGEST MISTAKE I have ever made. Save yourself a lot of heartache and financial distress and simply spend the money upfront on a quality moving company (that being said, any other mover would do). I refused to sign a claim offer of a measly ~$300 for my ~$7,000 of items in order to write this review, as the claim form legally prevents one from filing service-related complaints.\r \r Here is my moving experience highlight reel:\r \r - Lost 20% of my boxes valued at ~$7,000, one of which was the largest box I had\r - Forced to notify mover that they brought other people’s boxes into my apartment\r - Long distance driver was entirely unorganized and brought me into his truck to help look for my boxes (Good thing I am not a thief!)\r - Nonexistent communication within the company - Management was unaware my boxes were even missing\r - One way street - Whiteglove rarely, if ever, returned any of our repeated calls or messages\r - Whiteglove employees are incompetent across the board - drivers, customer service and directors are no exception\r - Zero accountability - Eventually dealt directly with a White Glove Executive Director who quickly pawned me off to yet another employee\r - Never got a truly honest apology\r - Was encouraged to quickly file a claim\r - Possible locations of my box according to Whiteglove - in other customer’s hands, overseas, or hidden in the New Jersey warehouse\r - Pressured Whiteglove to put any real effort into finding the boxes\r - Experienced horrible record keeping and knowledge-share among employees regarding customer files (not sure they really exist, maybe on napkins?)\r - Granted access to their “VIP Customer Care Department” line. If the kind of treatment I received on that line was “VIP”, I would love to know how they treat regular customers service calls\r \r Best luck on your move!\r \r UPDATE: I called White Glove to tell them I was declining the claim offer. They increased the offer a bit, but it still wasn’t anywhere close. I was asked what I was looking for, and I told them “at least $xyza” as I didn’t have time to think and choose a set amount, to which the employee replied that I should hear back in a few minutes. I was under the impression she was just feeling me out to see if coming up to around this amount was even possible. Just before the end of their business day I got a call back with a new offer. The White Glove employee went on the offensive and began attacking me once I suggested what I considered to be a reasonable offer (I came up with a fixed amount after having some time to think about it) considering I did not get what I paid for, which is for ALL my belongings to end up at the final destination. She said “we agreed on a number originally, but then you turned it down”. Nonsense. I was offered the “maximum” amount originally and was not aware of all the legal jargon prohibiting me from reviewing the company - I never agreed to that. She then suggested I was lying about the box contents, told me I was “vindictive”, that I would receive “bad karma”, and that if I posted a review she would reply with “all my personal information” including my signed confidential contract. As far as I’m concerned, I am expecting good karma if I prevent even one person from using this terribly unprofessional company. I credit them for increasing the offer, but it is grossly unprofessional and disgraceful to start launching personal attacks at a customer. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/16/2012

My wife and I wanted to compliment the excellence of the team managed by German Clavijo, including his associates Alvaro, Amin and Sergio. They moved us within Summit NJ on Friday 25 May on schedule and in line with the budget estimate. They arrived on time, moved quickly, efficiently and most carefully to load the truck. They then even more carefully moved efficiently to unload at our new home, paying close attention to keep things organized and getting boxes and furniture correctly placed. They then finished right on schedule! We were pleased and impressed with the energy, good will, politeness and care these gentlemen brought to their work. Mr. Clavijo???s management in particular was outstanding. We congratulate White Glove for recruiting and retaining such strong staff, and hope this praise will be communicated to them and that this excellence will be appropriately rewarded. more

DO NOT USE WHITEGLOVE. No, seriously. Don't even consider it. We've been without our stuff for 2 weeks now sitting in an empty house. Everyone has been completely unprofessional, has misled about everything we were expecting, and have had zero follow-up calls and status calls. We were misquoted a price, which we paid in full before the movers showed up, and had to pay an extra $800 because we had a few more boxes. Obviously we had to agree since all of our stuff was boxed up and the movers were already packing things into the truck. They also have all sorts of extra fees if there are stairs, long driveways, etc. $75 extra for each little detail. All of which isn't told to you until you sign your stuff away. We were told initially (during the quote phase) that our delivery would take 7-10 days. Then once we agreed, that changed to 7-10 business days. Then once we sent the money, it changed to 14 business days. Then once the movers packed up all of our stuff, it was 14 business days from your first available date. When the movers came to pick up our stuff, it was just 2 guys. it took 9 HOURS. I also had to feed these people (which having an empty house meant that I had to order food... on my dime). They also didn't have any tools. I had to unpack one of my boxes to give them tools. I've had to call and call almost every day asking where the hell my stuff is. Every time I call I get a new answer. This is the worst experience I've had. It's also cost me $4,500. We've been camping in an empty house and eating out every night. Added cost of eating out every night for a family? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY Update: Still waiting for my furniture. I had to call the dispatch and try to get an update. They told me ""for sure Saturday, worst case Sunday"". I was also told the driver would call me Friday. He didn't. I had to call today (Saturday) and I woke him up (at 2pm). It took 5 minutes for him to wrap his head around who he was talking to. He told me he would be here tomorrow morning between 8 and 11. Now, he just called me this evening to tell me his truck broke down and won't be able to fix it tomorrow since it's Sunday. He said maybe Monday. Are you freaking kidding me??????? What's next? Will all of my stuff be broken when I finally get it? Will I have 2 extra bills for unexpected expenses? I've never been more upset about a company in my life. more

I don't write letters too often for services that I pay for, however I wanted to take a moment to write you and all the fine people at White Glove Moving and Storage. From my initial contact with you, to Luba and his terrific crew of packers and movers at my home in Lake Peekskill, NY (which was 65 stairs down from the moving truck) to the 2 great men (Mr. Ahmed Hassan and Mr. Julian Garcia) who unpacked the truck at the final destination in Grapevine, Texas you guys have all delivered on an unwritten promise at an agreed upon price. I applaud each and every one of you. Starting with you, the service has been impeccable with efficient answers to my questions and concerns, the care shown to my belongings and packing was clean, neat, and orderly, the delivery at the final destination was well executed, efficient, careful and thoughtful. You guys are terrific and I will never stop praising you all for making what could have been a terrible situation a pleasant one. With that said, I hope I never need a moving company again but if I do, you guys will be the only one I will call. Thank you one and all. . . . . On May 23 and 24 I had the pleasure of 6/1/2012

On May 23 and 24 I had the pleasure of being moved by your company. As a former manager in the retail industry for over forty years I speak from experience and was very impressed with the level of service I received. All my contacts from White Glove, Ralph, Arthur, Edison, Ricardo and Autumn were outstanding. They operated very professionally, showed respect for my property and constantly checked to make sure I was satisfied. I honestly can't think of anything that could have been done to make the experience better. I am very happy to recommend your company to all my friends. Thank you very much and keep up the good work. Fantastic company 5/18/2012

This review is to tell you that we moved on April 19, 2012 from Summit and we used White Glove Moving and Storage. I just have one word for the staff (gentleman who gave the estimate), Arthur (whom I spoke to before the move), VIP Moving Crew headed up by Padro the day of the move and the telephone follow-up after the move------- FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC AND FANTASTIC. What a wonderful company to deal with! more

recent move went very well 4/9/2012

My experince with moving companies has always been horrid. How ever, this time around I decided I would only go with a highly recomended company. My company recommended White Glove Moving because they were already an approved vendor for them. Also my co-worker had already used them when she was relocated one year ago. I have to say, from the first time I contacted this company I felt safe. They treated me like a real person, taking there time in working out all the details, making sure all my needs were met, and yes is was tricky, because I was moving and didn't have an exact location. I was given different options, and although I changed my mind a billion times, they new exactly what I needed! I am very greatful for their patience and quality of costumer sevice they provided me. There were two different pick up locations and two different delivery locations, and way too many details involved, that I was almost 100% sure there would've of been some sort of mix up, but my sales rep was extremely organized and the movers ... always been horrid. I was impressed to say the least! White Glove Moving is the most professional moving company I know, by far. White Glove has a package system that keeps things simple and to the point, they never once hid any expenses which was my main concern. It seems in the past I was never able to escape from the traps of additional costs on the day of my move. I believe this is the number one reason why my company uses thier services, because secure pricing is necessary for the budget we are allowed. Not to mention the price was fair and just considering I chose a full service move. They are very highly recommended by my family and I. I'd like to give a special thanks to Ali and his team as they worked endlessly and I have received all of my things in exactly the same condition. Thank you White Glove from Mary and the kids! more

White Glove Moving 8/26/2011

I scheduled White Glove Moving to move my mother into her new apartment in Fort lee. I must say the move itself was pretty uneventful. When moving that is a great thing. My mother told me the moving men were friendly and respectful. The guys even took a couple of piece into the buildings dumpster which I thought was very classy. This definitely has been a successful experience and I give my recommendation. more

My Move into the City 8/24/2011

Let me just say, being a city girl, I move almost every year. So I am no stranger to the moving process. The last move I did within Jersey City went ok, but I heard about White Glove from a friend in my building so I decided to give them a call. Even though my move wasn?t all that big, two bedroom and not many boxes. They really did a great job with the details for the move. The moving crew was well experienced and extremely careful with my pieces. Very happy customer. Definitely the smoothest move as of yet. more

Horrible cross country move 8/12/2011

Be careful with this mover. This is a broker service. The initial representative, Casper, took my inventory for the quote but did not list all the items on the bill of laden. When the movers arrived two days after their guaranteed pickup window, they refused to move anything that was not on the list. They had to call their management to get permission to load the additional items which should have been on the list. They finished the packing the next day. It took the two movers two days to pack my 1100 Sq ft townhouse. All they had to pack was the furniture. All but 5-8 boxes had already been packed. I purchased the silver package so that they would pack my electronics, lamps, and pictures. After all my goods were loaded they told me that it would cost an additional $319 dollars. I wasn't in a position to argue at that point. But, I was told that I could get 3% off if I paid with cash, cashier's check, or money order. It was also at this point that I learned that my goods would be moved to a warehouse and would be unloaded and placed into storage. Then when a truck was available they would be reloaded and shipped to my final destination. Over the next two weeks I called several times to get the total volume of my goods or a weight. I was first passed around to various offices. Then I was guaranteed that I would be given a complete list when my goods arrived. White gloves guarantees delivery within 14 business days. They don't guarantee to deliver on a business day though. It took 12 business days and 2 1/2 weekends for my goods to be delivered. When my goods arrived they were in terrible condition. Boxes looked like they had been wet. There were large holes in boxes. My desk was chipped all around the edge with large deep scrapes across the surface. I had two lamps and a wall mirror broken, a standing fan snapped in two, the top ripped off my cat tree, the back broken off on my weigh bench, all of which the movers packed. They also broke all my mugs and wine glasses. My desk top computer, also which they packed, was hanging out of a box that looked like it had been ran over by a truck with a gaping hole in the side. My bed was missing components. The movers tried to put it together with some lag screws. But, it fell to pieces two days later in the night. The delivery movers were very apologetic and said that I must have had a horrible crew. They did not have my total volume of goods either and told me that I could contact the office to get it. I contacted the office four times over the following week before I could get a copy of my bill. Once I had my bill, I tried calling the company to collect on the $0.60 per lb insurance policy. The movers had signed my inventory for the damaged goods verifying the damage. I listed the items broken to the customer service representative. She said that I had too many damaged items. Usually, they would have done a settlement on the phone. However, I have to take pictures of all the damage and print copies of them to be mailed, they don't accept email copies, to the company. I have to keep all the broken items, make sure not to repair anything (they want me to sleep on floor), and keep all the packaging material. She could not give me a time frame for when the claim could be completed. She said that she would email me the information later in the day. But, I never received it. I would not recommend this company. I would strongly recommend that you avoid this company and look elsewhere. more

Poor Cross Country Move Experience 7/27/2011

Many folks here comment on how White Glove's moving services are excellent, but they're probably reviewing local moves. Be very cautious if you plan to use White Glove for a cross country move. I was drawn to White Glove because of its positive reviews and its A+ rating on BBB, but what convinced me to use White Glove was the attentiveness of Frank (my advisor) and his willingness to negotiate. Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience once my move actually started. Positives: 1. Prompt responses: Frank usually would quickly email or call me if I had questions 2. Flexibility: White Glove was willing to discount before my move due to a competing bid and during my move due to my problems 3. Very little damage: Items arrived in good shape 4. Friendly movers: The gentlemen who picked up and delivered my items were helpful 5. Service: The sales (Casper) and operations (Alex) directors took ownership of my move and its problems. Negatives: 1. Late pickup: My pickup was one day later than scheduled. I had to scramble to meet the movers right before my plane flew out of town. 2. Late delivery: My contract guaranteed 14 business day turnaround, but my items were delivered at the last possible hour. White Glove held my items for 31 actual days, from June 16 to July 17. This was partly due to how I didn't choose my ""first available acceptance"" until June 26. I had no idea that my move would not start until June 26; had I known I would've selected an earlier date so that my items would move while I gone. Instead, my items sat in a NJ warehouse for weeks. As the result, I had to live for an additional 3 weeks sleeping on the ground with the barest of clothes, food, and cooking supplies. 3. Contractor service: I was told that my move would be handled by White Glove employees and equipment. Instead, my items was handled by contractors: Big Canoe Moving and FlatRate Moving. I was completely misled. 4. Poor/wrong dispatch service: I called dispatch multiple times for updates on my move. I was told by at least 3 different dispatchers on different days that my items were being loaded ""at that moment"" for the move. My items were not packed until the 13 business day, July 14. One dispatch person even disregarded my frustration with the comment ""We are professional movers; we know what we're doing."" On multiple occasions, dispatch promised to call me back with updates but never did. Again, I felt misled and disregarded. 5. Lack of follow-up: After I receiving my items from FlatRate, I yet to hear back from White Glove even after receiving a promise that I would. 6. Unexpected Charge: My initial estimate was lower than expected because my inventory wasn't complete. I had to pay an extra $625 overage for 100 extra cubic feet, but White Glove discounted it to $300 for a final price of $3115. The main lesson is to use a national moving company for cross-country moves. As much as I wanted to help out another small business, I ended up regretting it. The other major lesson is to pick your first available acceptance date wisely. more

HORRIBLE MOVING EXPERIENCE...DON'T HIRE WHITE GLOVE 7/20/2011

Do yourself a favor. Even if you are moving cross country like I did, rent a truck and do it yourself before you ever hire White Glove Moving Company. I hired White Glove Moving Co. because of the many good reviews I read online. That was not a good reason to hire them based upon my story. I talked to the sales person and we went over everything I owned to get an estimate. I was moving from SC to Texas and since I had to pay for it myself, I chose to pack everything myself to curb costs. So my first mistake was to pack a lot of small to medium size boxes which are easier to carry than a few huge ones. Unbeknownst to me, they gave me a quote and once I hired them and they came to move my items, they saw I had more boxes than they thought (80 more). So they decided to charge me $1400 more for that because they don't move by weight but by volume which is unlike every other mover. I was shocked and angry that if I didn't pay them the extra money, I wouldn't get my stuff. The cost of the move was expensive enough without their added costs. The extra money was bad enough but what was worse is that I did NOT get my items for 3 weeks!!!! Can you imagine moving to another state and waiting 3 weeks to get your clothes, beds, furniture, kitchen items, T.V., computer, etc?! My husband and I had to sleep on a blow up bed and had nothing else...to sit on, to cook with and very limited clothing!! I kept calling and writing White Glove and asking them where our items were. Each time, they either wouldn't answer or would tell me that they had 14 business days to get us our stuff. I told them that since they worked 7 days a week, it was well past 14 business days. They disagreed and kept saying that I would get my items soon. Finally, I demanded an answer and they told me that they picked up my items in SC, dropped it off in NJ and waited until they were going to move other households west towards Texas before moving my stuff. So my household was sitting in some warehouse in NJ for nearly three weeks while I had to pay extra to 1. have it moved and 2. to eat out, buy new clothing and other necessities just to survive three weeks without anything!! Are you kidding me?!! And do you think for all my inconvenience and upset that they would cut me a deal on the cost? No WAY! In addition, they had a couple of guys moving the items that took at least 14 hours. One of the guys moved slower and was lazier than anyone I met and the other guy said that they just hired the guy locally and that he never moved a house before!! I paid thousands of dollars for this type of service?! I think they are big scam artists, liars and deceitful to the public and should be fined for their misrepresentations, misinformation and misdeeds to the public. What a sham. I am spreading the word not to ever bother with this company that claims it's customers are number one. The only number one for them is themselves and their bank accounts. DON'T HIRE THEM!! more

Moving experience 2/7/2011

My experience with White Glove was great. They moved all my things from NJ to NY within 4 hours. They were scheduled to show up from 8:00am to 11:00pm and they got to me no later than 9:00am. The guys were extra careful with my furniture and very courteous. The price was not too bad considering everything they had done. Thanks again guys. more

Awful 12/28/2010

I had a long distance move to Florida and not only were they late on both occasions, but they broke furniture and shoved items loosely into packing boxes and one of them asked me for a ciggarette while telling me the people in my new town ""sucked"". I will never recommened then to anyone.their lack of communication was terribly unprofessional as well. more

Move to Hoboken 8/4/2010

White Glove Moving Company 6/21/2010

We moved yesterday and the movers were very hard working and careful with the fragile items and keeping the house clean. They were polite, courteous, and well prepared. they did a wonderful job and were very professional. I was delighted that we had no breakage or damage of any kind and the job came in right within the estimated time and cost. The representative, who I spoke with, Frank, was very helpful and took the time to explain every detail of my move, about packing and the estimated charges. Overall an outstanding job. more
