Whistle Stop Station-Rowlett

Our daughter (now 3) has been at Whistle Stop Station - HICKOX since she was 14 months old. I couldn't be more satisfied with the level of care, education, and love that she receives. The entire staff there is friendly and will immediately act to resolve ANY issue(s) that you bring to them. It doesn't matter if a hair bow has gone missing or something more serious. They listen to the parents and value them. My daughter loves going to school and is excited each day to go. She has learned so much (it isn't from me - it is from the curriculum and the teachers who teach it). Just this morning - she was showing me her RIGHT arm and LEFT arm. She just turned 3 in Sept. I had no idea that she had learned that at school. I have never questioned her quality of care while there. I recommend Whistle Stop Station @ Hickox in Rowlett, TX to anyone who is looking for AFFORDABLE - HIGH QUALITY care for their children. more

We love Whistle Stop on Hickox. It's clean and safe. It always smells good. The director is great. You really feel like she and the rest of the staff are on your side and they go out of their way to make you comfortable and happy. The price is excellent compared to what some of my co-workers pay at other, simmilar, places. The teachers have fun activities for the kids and everything is seemingly done properly and according to state regulations. My daughter was in the infant room and now she's in the baby room. It's been great so far. The reason why I gave Whistle Stop on Hickox four stars instead of five: Sometimes some of her things (bottles and clothes) go missing but they've always shown back up (except for a couple of little hairbows). That's pretty much going to happen at any day care center. One time, on a Friday, they misplaced her bottles. I didn't make a big fuss about it- not really my style. However, as soon as I mentioned it, the staff started looking everywhere, they called all the teachers at home to see if they knew where the bottles were. They couldn't locate them so they gave me $20 cash to buy some new ones to get through the weekend. One of the teachers found the bottles on Monday morning. The staff apologized profusely and told me to keep the money. No big deal. more

I've had my son in WSS since he was almost 2 and he'll be 8 this year. It's pricey YES but worth every penny knowing that my children are in a comfortable environment with a great staff. I now have a 2 year old that is at WSS as well and has been there since she was 3 months old. The staff is great and the director has never let me down. I'm a complete Momma Bear and they've put up w/ me for all these years. It's clean, organized, great schedules and curriculum. My son started kinder 2 years ago and when he went in he was bored because he was advanced due to WSS curriculum. My son has made life long friends and I know my daughter will as well. I have no clue where the other reviewers get their info from but I'm a longtime WSS parent and will never leave as long as the warmth is there. Good Job WSS!!! more

The staff and teachers at Whistle Stop genuinely care about our kids and knew us all by name right away. They are helpful, graceful and they sure know how to have fun too. We love that our kids get so much care in their preschool. more

Whistle Stop on Chiesa is about one thing and that's MONEY. I've had my children there for a minute now, and for the longest, we were paying for 2 weeks at a time, to coincide with our pay period. All of a sudden, without warning, they decide to charge a 25 dollar late fee. Remember, these are arrangements THEY agreed too, and never charged a late fee before. When we asked about it, all we got was a ""I'm sirry, but they want us to charge the late fee now."" and the incredible response of ""Can't u pay a week in advance to keep up"". Dumb as that was, I said fine, and paid a week in advance. Since we both get paid on Thursday, we were told as long as the check is in on Wednesday, they would hold it and deposit it on Thursday. Remember, we don't get paid til then so the check wouldn't be covered if they deposited early. So guess what they did? You guessed it, deposited the check early, and cost me a 35 dollar overdrawn fee. I could have just taken the 25 late charge for all that! And then comes these ridiculous supply fees, which are like 45 dollars per child. I've sent my kids to other day cares in the past, and the supply fee was never that high! In fact, for after school care, I've never been charged a supply fee! Supply for what? In the summer they charge all these fees too, and don't even provide a lunch for the kids. You would think for what you pay, lunch would be included, but they charge extra, and you have to supply the lunches. The only reason my kids still go there is because his school doesn't have a bus that will drop him off home. I'm in the process of looking for another provider, but I warn you, unless you have money to give away, stay far away from this place. All they care about is money, and they don't care that they watch your child for just 2 hours after school. They just charge, charge away.... Pros: location Cons: Everything Else more

I have to say that we have had our daughter who is now 18 months old at Whistle Stop on Cheisa for the last year, and we couldn't be happier. The directors are incredibly supportive and loving towards our daughter, and have been very prompt about communicating with us on any illness or incident. The teachers have been so caring that it puts our minds at ease when we leave her in their care. Our little girl seems to feel secure with her teachers, and it is obvious that they care about her. I am a teacher myself, and I have absolutely no hesitations about keeping her at Whistle Stop. Pros: Warm environment, caring staff more

My son has been going to Whistle Stop for about a year and a half. And let me clarify its the one on Hickcox NOT on Chiesa... That school has been the best place anyone could ever ask for! A complete blessing. I knew from the moment I stepped foot into the place. The office staff welcomed me and embraced us. Your not going to find a Christian based private school for the amount they charge. My son is always talking about God and Jesus when he comes home from school. The teachers and the staff at Hickcox are wonderful. I am a single mom and they have really helped me out and been there for me and MANY other of the families. When we walk in or out all of the staff greets us by name. My son is a handful hes not the ""good kid"" or ""most well be-haved"" either. But, they have been NOTHING but patient, and helpful every step of the way. They ALWAYS ALWAYS are in contact with me wheather it be a bump on the head, a cough coming on or my son just needed some strong enforcment from me over the phone! Of course the teachers are worn out some days. But who wouldnt be? I work in a pediatrics office very close to the WSS school and I ALWAYS ask the parents what they think of the school. And if they have had a problem with them. And I am here to tell you that NOT ONE has had anything negative to say in over year in a half thats pretty good. I don't think anyone could say that. I am forever grateful to this school and love them all very much. They are helping shape some wonderul children and being a great influence in their lives! Thanks WSS more
