Just another bar.... 3/6/2012

After having Thai Son with some friends today we decided to grab some drinks afterwords. However since it is a school night I only had sprite, but that is neither here nor there now is it? This is your typical sports type bar. It's really the same as most bars except that these guys had Jenga. I don't frequent bars too ofen, but I've never seen Jenga in a bar before. The waitress was very friendly and she smelled very nice. LOL. No I'm not I'm not a creeper, she just got very close and inevitably I got a whiff of her scent. On the tv's they played some basketball and some boxing. It's a cool place to chill and chat with some friends. They played some cool 90's rock as well, this was a cool spot. Nice on a rainy, windy, yucky sunday night. more

Great bar for any day of the week! 2/27/2011

I'm a fan of Whiskey Tavern, as possibly one of the greatest bars in NYC. Its in Chinatown, so most days of the week its not too crowded, but come Friday and Saturday, you're going to get good music and a solid crowd. Its not necessarily the place you'd go to get picked up, but its a great place to hang out with friends, order tater tots with chipotle dip (my favorite) and listen to some great music. The bartenders are always super friendly with generous pours in 16oz glasses for even your liquor drinks. Its bound to be a night of good times, unless you're pretentious and don't appreciate a good neighborhood bar. If you're happy anywhere with good people, WT is the place for you! (Their ""Taco Tuesdays"" are pretty fantastic too.) more

A place where everybody knows your name 12/17/2010

This is by far one of the best bars in NYC. Its great to watch a sports game, grab a day drink, or host a raging party. I've held all of my friends and my own bdays and other celebrations here because of the first class service that they offer and amazing pickle back shots. The bartenders make it a point to get to know all of their customers, and Rob even made a cake for my boyfriends birthday. Anyone with a bad review must be antisocial and hate to have a good time. more

WORST EXPERINCE EVER 1/27/2010

Went to this bar on a Sunday night while on vacation. Met the two bartenders, Billy and Rob(the owner). Overly friendly at first and introduced themselves before poring EXTREMELY ridiculous strong drinks and giving us free shots. When I wasn't looking Billy would continue to pour more alcohol into my drink which eventully made me extremely sick and black out. For a couple of days I thought maybe I was given the date rape drug. Reguardless if I was drugged by actually pills or just alcohol in general I STRONGLY advise women to be careful if planning to go this bar. At one point this bartender tried to take me in a back room to take advantage of me. Both bartenders also mentioned that they drink, make drinks and get girls drunk. I do NOT reccommend going to the terrible place. Cons: Billy the bartender more

Very friendly, comfortable bar for hanging out 10/8/2009

This is a really great place to hang out. The back patio is awesome when it's warm enough to go outside. The owners are really friendly and remember you when you come back. The food is very good (nice greasy burgers, excellent Cobb salad, tater tots!) so I go there often for lunch. It can get pretty crowded Fridays at night. The DJ does play a lot of 80s/early 90s music, but I really enjoy it. It's one of the best bars in the area. (As a note, the 2007 review should be ignored because they changed ownership a little over a year ago.) Pros: Excellent bar food, owners/bartenders are very nice more

Enough with the Josey song....and other 80's music 2/7/2009

Just checked out this bar tonight. Can't stand the 80's music. I mean come on, seriously and whats the dj, he plays terrible but thinks hes so sweat. Angry I took the 6 train all the way down here. Stay above Canal, unless you're heading to Jeremy's Ale House. Oh and thanks for the expensive draft prices... more

The Worst Experience EVER 3/16/2007

I had jury duty near here and wanted to watch some of the NCAA Tournament so I stepped in into this hole in the wall place for but to eat. When I first walked in there were three empty stools at the bar but the bartender said someone was sitting at the first one, so i moved down to the next one and was told someone was sitting there. Okay! He didn't once explain that the people were out for a smoke and coming back he just snipped at me like he didn't care for me. A gentlemen at the end of the bar saw this and gave me his chair because he was just having one beer and leaving. Once this guy left the bartender told me again I couldn't sit there. I should have just left but I only had a certain amount of time to eat and get back to jury duty so I moved over to a table. The waitress was okay but obviously extremely busy, she was the only one tending to the tables. 45 minutes later I got my burger, which was okay, run of the mill bar burger. I ate and went back to jury duty and had the chance to watch a little of the first day of march madness but the experience I had with the bartender really made me want to write something to warn people about this place. The bartender ended up keeping those three chairs open until a few ladies showed up but nobody returned to the tables, what a A$$H073. The clientele was mostly lawyers, it was right behind the courthouse so that makes sense, and blue collar workers, not sure where they were coming from. I should have ventured into Chinatown for something different. Pros: close to courthouse and jury duty Cons: really bad service more
