I have always felt this is over rated! Its not bad but it is not all of what people make of it!

Best Burger in town 10/30/2009

I think this is the best place in town for burgers although the other night I went out of a limb and ordered the Reuben. It was unbelievable. The meat was tender and the bread was grilled to perfection. We happened to be there on a Wednesday which was trivia night. That was fun and people really get into it. Great night -- good food -- cold beer -- doesn't get much better than that. Pros: Friendly /relaxed, great food, wide variety of beers on tap more

The burger car rocks!!! 6/24/2009

I have been going to the flea for 27 years, they just unvailed a burgr car, this place is awesome. The best meat nad great service, great prices, Tuesdays, two for 1 and sundays after 8pm everything is half off! Pros: great food, burger car more

Ignore the sour grapes reviewers - still the best burger joint! 12/4/2008

Are you people serious? this place has always been our favorite place for juicy burgers and COLD beer. If it's confusing to you to order at the counter and pick it up at the window, maybe you SHOULD be eating at Sonic instead. \r \r The bartenders and waitresses are friendly, witty and fast and the portions are HUGE. We've eaten there for nearly 20 years and when friends or family come in town it's the first place we go. If you want a tiny little dried up burger with a thick french bread bun and brie cheese, go to Paris. this place serves stick-to-your-ribs food. If you come in there more than once they remember you and take good care of you. Its a neighborhood kinda place.\r \r To the person who says they're trying to squeeze more $ out of you, well, what business isn't? I dont mind paying a little extra for little extras. and they have a great happy hour and the chicken fried steak on Wed nite is to die for.\r \r This is still the best burger in KC and the atmosphere is what it's always been. We love it and recommend it. Pros: great burgers, cold beer, great service, homey atmosphere, kid-friendly Cons: located far from my house :( more

Just avoid 7/29/2008

A place you have to be instructed on how it works -all seems geared to get a little more money out of you- while serving you greasy low-quality food. May be good for kids (if you don't mind your kids eating junk) because the place is such junk its like who cares about anything- plus you have to leave them at the table when you go order food. I lost an extra $6.00 because they didn't take credit cards and I used there ATM. Then if you are good natured you still have to leave a tip for the waitress because she brought you some water and asked you if everything was alright. Unclear language on the menu made it so I ordered an extra side and had to get my money back after I realized it. Paid $4.00 for six cheap small greasy onion rings and we could only eat 4 altogether so they were a buck a piece. I Have went here about twice a year for years but will never go again. I could have paid half as much and got twice as much of similar quality at Sonic across the street. I'm not some cheapskate but try to keep it cheap sometimes and like to feel like I got my money's worth- Hard to do here. Pluses include shuffle board and pool table, pinball machines. Go there for that and maybe drinks only. Pros: shuffle board and pool table, pinball Cons: not worth it, greasy, sqeeze extra $ out of you more

Not the same place!!! 7/8/2008

I stopped by there last week and wanted to order a burger to go. When I found out they were going to charge me an additional .50 ($8.49) for the burger and .25 (.75) for cheese I was a bit upset. I mean really. I had never heard of being charged extra for a to go order. And, nowhere does it say that on the menu. When I got my burger it looked decent but had that large frozen patty look to it. And the cheese was this tiny little square. It wasn't really very tastey either. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Maybe it should have become an Ooters a few years back because this place has gone downhill in a big way. Pros: Decent service Cons: Cash only more

Best Hamburger, BS 5/9/2008

I don't know what the big fuss is about Westport Flea Market hamburgers. I am a Hamburger Freak! I could eat Hamburgers 7 days a week! Believe me, I KNOW what makes a good hamburger! Every burger I've had at WFM has taken a VERY long time to get to the table (30-40 minutes). The BUN falls apart before the 3rd or 4th bite. The meat is stale, like its been frozen too long. The price is very HIGH for a burger, about $10. The best part of the meal is the french fries. In my opinion, the long wait, the poor quality product & the fact that the WFM is more of a BAR, than a Restaurant - I'd rather eat at Wendy's or Hardee's. Maybe if your DRUNK the WFM Hamburger tastes better & is a better deal?! I have NEVER had even an ok Hamburger there & I'd fight the option of going there again, If I have to I'll order some other sandwich. As far as the Best Hamburger awards go, the reviewers must have been DRUNK, or have NO CLUE what a good hamburger IS! There are KC Icons: Gates & Sons BBQ, Arthur Bryants BBQ, Strouds, Fun House Pizza, Tailgating at Arrowhead, Etc. - I'd be EMBARRASED to take anyone to WFM. I'd say it came from St. Louis. I've cooked MUCH better hamburgers at home on a grill. Pros: they serve BEER Cons: NO parking, Bad food, poor service more

Excellent Burgers! 2/20/2008

This place is a KC classic! The burgers are awesome and the atmosphere is just plain funky! Stop at the ATM before coming in because they only accept cash and your drinks are paid for thru the waitress. Well worth the stop! Pros: Good food Cons: Cash only, weird paying system more

The OK Burger 7/10/2007

The burger was good but not the best. I shear size surely entices you but...it was rather plain. the bun was tasteless. however the juicy patty made up for it. but i give it 2 thumbs up. more

True Westport eatery 4/29/2007

The Flea Market is casual dining at it's best! The service is friendly, atmostphere interesting, and food is OUTSTANDING! Like so many local favorites, The Flea Market caters to Westport's off-beat bohemians as well as the Johnson County crowd. Don't be surprised to see a blue mohawk or more than a few piercings next to the khakis and polos. This is a family-friendly establishment, but there is an age restriction at night (Maybe 9 or 10pm). After all, it does have a full bar with an excellent selection of speciality beers and it is in Westport, KC's place to be for fun! Pros: McGonigal's beef, REAL mayo, people watching, casual and comfy Cons: Cash Only (ATM on premises) more

Best Burger Ever!!!! 2/26/2007

I have just moved to KC and was told if i wanted a great burger, try the Westport Flea Market.\r I came in last sat and the place was packed, kids playing pinball, couples drinking beers, and just alot of people having a great time. I tried the Flea burger and realized why it has soooo many awards!\r Best Burger i have ever had, lived in New York, LA and Denver, this was #1 with a bullet. By the way great staff, very friendly and told me about the Trivia nights on Wed and thurday and live bands on Sunday, Kudos to the guy who saved this institution. Pros: Best Burger Ever, Great Beer choices more

One of the best burgers in my life 2/13/2007

I was staying next door at the Holiday Inn Express, I was hungry and was getting to go across the street to Sonic. I saw the Westport Flea Market as i was about to cross the street, and saw the advertisements on the side of the building ""Kansas City's Best Burger"", so I thought I would give it a shot. Weird place, since there is a small flea market in the same building. But the burger was out of control. Your order comes up then you dress your own burger, they have a big selection of sauces and condiments. Fries were great also, and they had a cool selection of beers, Boulevard beers, Blue Moon, and some other great ones. Pros: Great bun and meat, great beers. Cons: a flea market????? more

Good Burger, weird atmosphere 11/9/2006

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express right next store, so very convenient to just walk across the parking lot. The infamous burger was good, but a little pricey. I didn't see the 'emormous' portions refered to. A mini burger was like $6. It does melt in your mouth like butter. Be prepared to prepay for everything. I sat down and ordered a drink, you are expected to pay as soon as you get it and prepay your food order. No tab here. Good food, place is weird. more

BEST BURGER 10/9/2006

On a trip to K.C., my girlfriend and me stopped here from a reccomendation of a good burger. The burger was by far the best I have ever had. I can not figure out what made it so good but I still crave it to this day. more

You wont find a better burger! 8/30/2006

I'm talking 10 OUNCES of juicy beef on a browned bun and a thick slice of cheddar! I mean come on! Absolutely the best in KC! Pros: THE MEAT, The PEPSI products, the cheese Cons: self-service, paying in advance-you feel rushed more

Great Burger 5/19/2006

Visiting some friends in Kansas City, the topic of lunch came up. My friedns raved about a small place nearby. My initial thought was: How good could a burger be? It was quickly answered. The meat is from local butchers, and the seasoning is all their own. Cooked to your specifications and in my case, the medium rare was juicy while not being undercooked. The only complaint I have is about their buns. The buns taste doughy and mass-processed and detract from the burger. They also don't hold against the juices of the burger. This is easily one of the best burgers I have ever had. Pros: Exceptional Food Cons: Sub-par Buns more

Good Eats 7/8/2005

I've been dining at the Flea Market for more than 10 years. Everything I've ever gotten off their menu has been top quality and served with a smile. more

Ambience is so bad it is good 6/15/2005

This is a dining experience you should take in when in Kansas City. Westport is trendy and fun, but this place delivers you food with a wallop. It is hot, good and ENORMOUS in size. Try it, if you love burgers or tenderloins, you will love it! Pros: Great prices, Enormous portions, Unique atmosphere Cons: Self serve, Can get crowded, Unique atmosphere more

No Fleas Here! 12/19/2002

Great burgers! Simple service! Overall a good eating experience if you don't need a lot of ambiance and hype. more

Good Burger 12/5/2002

Overall, the Westport flea market is the place to go when in westport if you want an outstanding burger. Do not go for the service, ambience or overall dining experience. This place is about the burger, the whole burger, and nothing but the burger. Pros: Excellent Burgers Cons: Poor Service, Poor Location, Poor Ambience more

allsome burgers 10/31/2002

got a hangover? need a pick me up? I recommend the Flea for a great burger. more
