Things to keep in mind when reading reviews 6/15/2011

I've never been a patient at this clinic, but I work with them and know of a couple important changes that have occured in the last few years. People should be aware of them when reading these reviews. 1) Dr. Coleman has retired and no longer works at West Linn Women's clinic. 2) The receptionist, Patty, whose been the main complaint in a couple negative reviews, passed away in 2008. Dr. San Miguel is still there and my interactions with the staff have always been pleasant. more

Not the place if you have questions, or want information 10/22/2009

While the majority of care offered is good, if you have questions, or want information regarding tests, treatments and procedures before you actually decide, I encourage you to look elsewhere. If you want polite, respectful communication from your medical provider, I encourage you to look elsewhere. Asking questions is frowned upon, and in some cases, not tolerated. I don't mean to over-simplify... but instead of giving information, or even suggesting sources to check out, they would prefer that you find another provider. In addition to the receptionists consistently displaying curt, impatient and rude behavior... so too do the medical assistance staff, despite efforts on the patients part. This is a significant change, and an unfortunate one. I believe that Dr. San Miguel is very intelligent, and excellent in the area of medicine, but her communication style impedes her ability to perform, as do the staff that are hired for the front desk. My hope is that public reviews will help facilitate change so that Dr. San Miguel can be appreciated for the educated medical professional that she is. I would hope that they would move to a model of care that encourages educated choices, and that patients are fully informed prior to treatments, tests and procedures. Even offering handouts on upcoming tests would be helpful, and being open to conversations regarding patient concern would make all the difference. more

Receptionist reflect poorly on outstanding OB/GYN 7/2/2009

The receptionists frequently fail to pass along messages to the Dr. and PA... this is very disconcerting during a pregnancy. It's quite sad, because Dr. San Miguel has got to be one of the most competent OBs in our area. She listens to patients, really listens, and is your partner, not your boss, in your own health care. I hope they can either increase their receptionist training, or hire more competent individuals. more

re: Bad Receptionist (Patty) 6/15/2009

Patty was the office manager who was known by all as someone who was completely clueless, hence you being told "it was illegal". Randy Coleman kept her because he told her how to do everything (she even went to him when a light bulb needed to be changed!) so it was done how he wanted it, whether it was right or wrong. She would NEVER contradict or question him. Patty has since died, and Randall Coleman had to leave the state to continue practicing medicine, so it's got to be much improved at WLWC. I've only heard positive things about Dr San Miguel (female Dr.) more

re: Avoid at all costs! 6/15/2009

Since that review, Dr Randall Coleman had his lisence pulled in the state of OR. He had already lost his hospital privleges at most of the area hospitals. He sent a letter to all his patients stating he was retiring due to health reasons, he is believed to have started practicing again in another state. Pity those unsuspecting patients! Possibly Arizona. They should be warned. more

Amazing staff, great knowledgeable OBGYN 6/13/2009

I went to the West Linn Women's Clinic for a high risk pregnancy. Dr. San Miguel was SO nice and helpful, and I didn't have any problem at all with the front desk. As far as I could tell there are no male doctors that work there, but there is a female PA. I will definitely recommend this amazing office to my friends! more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 12/4/2007

Want to find out what the medical community thinks of Randall Coleman? Ask any OB/GYN nurse in the surrounding area. He has lost his hospital privileges at most of them. Which means "we don't want you practicing here because you are a liability". I'll give him one thing though; he puts on a very convincing show (caring, concerned etc). Start to ask him some questions though and see how this wonderful, caring person turns into Dr Jekyll. He is right ALWAYS, and if you can prove to him he is wrong, he is angry at YOU for pointing it out, and will still refuse to acknowledge he was wrong. There is no questioning him. Try it and see what the result is. He gets FURIOUS and abusive to his patients. Don't you think since YOU are employing HIM (therefore, he works for you) that as the employer, you have the right to question him on WHY and ask about alternatives??? Good luck, and please post his response. more

VERY BAD RESEPTIONIST SERVICE! GOOD DOCTORS THOUGH! 10/8/2007

VERY POOR service by receptionist, "Patty". Dr. SanMiguel is sweet & nice. I would have loved to see her for my entire pregnancy. At my 2nd apt w/ the doc I was asked to update my info. I listed new ins of OHP & BCBS PPO ins. Patty looked at my info, become VERY rude, checked the comp & told me I had a balance due. I said I would pay it as soon as I got a bill (they had not sent 1 yet) or they could bill my OHP. I told her I had ins by my ex husband, new OHP, & new ins through my current husband, who I married 6 days prior. "Patty" & another lady (name ?) said it is ILLEGAL for my ex to insure me & to have 3 policys. They would have to view the court order by my ex & talk to ins about billing. They didnt take OHP or my new ins by my husband so why did it matter? I didn't see the doc after how bad I was treated. Now I'm 25wk preg, high risk, NO doc! I called to get my med rec & was told they belong to the clinic! 4 more info and complete story email me TNT2007MOM@AOL.COM. Thanks! more

The most knowlegeable OBGYN I have ever met. 8/3/2005

I was reffered to west lynn womens clinic during my pregnancy when I went high risk at 17 weeks along. Dr Coleman and his whol staff are simply wonderful. I saw his Ultra sound Tech Jenny 2 times a week for ultrasounds and she has the pest personality ever. She just has a way of making people feel at ease in her presence when they know there is reason to be terrified. Our running Joke for the better part of the next 18 weeks was "is it still a boy". Dr coleman himself has a very laid back nature. Delivering babies just comes naturally to him it seems, even with the risky ones like me. His staff worked with me as much as they could to stay as close to my birthplan as possible under the circumstances. Dr coleman is also very dedicated to his patients. My son came during the worst snow and Ice storm in over 20 years and he was there when he easily could have left the on call or hospital MD do the delivery and stayed home. more
