Perfect Neighborhood Place 12/27/2009

We go to West Five all the time. It's relaxing, the drinks are really good, whether from their cocktail menu or otherwise. Favorite food items include the vegetarian tamales (with chili and gauc and salsa, yum!), the tuna melt, the rueben and the blt. It's got the perfect west seattle vibe. We love it. Pros: good drinks, friendly staff, comfort food Cons: menu could use a little livening up once in a while more

Great Drinks, Great Food 5/10/2009

I have been going here for years ...it is the best, some good service some marginal, sometimes a wait, but the chicken appetizer, and the macaroni and cheese are to die over. Same with all of their mixed drinks -superb! Pros: Great chicken appetizer, potato salad, macaroni and cheese Cons: Nothing more

A good time was had by all. 9/18/2008

We initially dropped by Matador, not a bad place but it just wasn't our scene, we wanted somewhere cool and comfy to catch up with old friends. Walked across the street and were very pleasantly surprised with West 5. Really nice waitstaff, great mac and cheese, stiff drink. West Seattle is a bit out of the way, but will be making the trip back. more

Great experience.... the meals are indescriptible experience for the senses 5/1/2008

My first meal in Seattle was an indescriptible experiece I enjoyed a Seared Halibut Sandwich, the classic Mac n chesse and finally a piece of heaven: Chocolate Souffle a la Mode...... I need say more??? The crew are friendly people, the music, the light, the owners, all the package is wonderful. Pros: the meals, the service Cons: nothing more

Two-Fifty Manny's on Happy Hour! 3/3/2008

Stopped in for a beer after not getting any service down the street at Elliot Bay Brewing. Here, the bartender was right there! It was just after 3PM so Happy Hour started, and I had a fresh pint of Mannys Ale! It was so good I had another along with a great tasting bacon, lettuce, & tomato sandwich. The old breweriana hanging about above the long bar added to the 1960's ambiance, and the comfortable bar chairs were nice. more

Great Cocktails, Great Staff 9/6/2006

West 5, what can I say, Some of the best waitstaff in the city, The bartenders are thefriendlist you'll meet anywhere. Cocktails are suberb! Happy Hour every day from 4-6pm. Excellent nibbles. The lighting is low. Everyone looks great. All and all one of my favorite places to get a drink. Pros: no kids more

West 5: The Place To Be. 7/7/2006

I am new to the bar scene (turned 21 last year) but I had heard and read some positive things about West 5. Guess what, they're all true. I went there for the first time on the 4th of July weekend and it wasn't busy. My friends and I were able to find a table without any problems and the drinks are absolutely amazing. A few days ago, I looked at their web site to see what they served as well as their specialties and this is what I had. more

My absolute fav! 3/30/2006

West 5 is exactly what West Seattle has needed for years! I love everything about West 5! From the full bar to the vintage West Seattle memoribilia to the house salad to the music to the astral mac n' cheese! Very best! I moved to another part of the city, but I still hike it over to West Seattle just for West 5! Pros: Atmosphere, menu, decor (WestSeattle!) Cons: the wait on weekends more

West 5 Rocks! 6/10/2004

I have been going to West 5 since, literally, the day AFTER it opened. It is sophisticated yet understated all at the same time. Though I'm off carbs normally, the mac-n-cheese is TO DIE FOR! The staff are phenominal and truly gifted in their craft as well as ""small town"" customer service. I hope not too many people latch on to West Seattle's best kept secret... more

finally, a non smoking bar! 1/29/2004

that is the biggest draw to West 5- the 100% smoke-free air. the drinks are outstanding, if slightly pricey. I recommend the Appleton Mojito. a little on the crowded side on Friday nights, but if you sit at the bar you get slightly faster service. yay for non smoking bars- let's hope the trend continues! Pros: non smoking, good drinks Cons: , too crowded more

You must try! 11/11/2003

Everyone should check out West 5. A great lounge (with very flattering neon pink lighting) in West Seattle--which was sorely in need of a great place to hang out for cocktails and nosh. Speaking of nosh, the food is quite good for a bar, and I highly recommend any of the appetizers. Reasonably priced and the servers were friendly and as attentive as possible on a busy night. What more could you ask for in a neighborhood bar? Pros: vintage decor, comfort , great drinks and food more

the best bar on california 10/20/2003

Great food, slick decor, nice staff. It's a little hard to get a place to sit around dinner time, but you can always hit the bar and wait. The crowd varies a lot - seems different every time I go in. Overall pretty cool - not a wild party place. Bar/wait staff is generally very friendly. Drinks are ok for the price PBR on tap is the best value ;-) The whole place is non-smoking, which is ok for dinner but as a smoker it's a little bit of a downer to hang out at the bar. Pros: great atmosphere, parking behind, mellow crowd Cons: limited seating, no smoking area, average drinks more

My favorite place in West Seattle 5/5/2003

West 5 opened recently and very quickly sorted out some operational details allowing it to become my favorite place to eat in West Seattle. It has the best Macaroni in Cheese in town, period, and many of the other offerings are stellar as well (meatloaf) at a great price. The owner has always been friendly to me, always asking if I enjoyed my meal, and really listening to the answer. The diverse clientel and decent drinks round out the experience. Pros: Mac n' cheese, Friendly owner, inexpensive Cons: Nothing gourmet, Often crowded or loud, other pasts dishes more

A Welcome Change for West Seattle 2/14/2003

The food was winning, the atmosphere of nostalgia lite and cocktail chic is quite charming, and I highly recommend a visit for those who enjoy a drink & a bite, or just a drink, or just a bite. Well done West 5! more
