I have worked in the service industry in Seattle for quite awhile now, and the security at The War Room are the worst. Especially the door guys. They are rude and think way too ...

Horrible Place 3/29/2009

Drinks are expensive and weak, the atmosphere is a strong 3 out of 10, and everyone that works there has a classic small town rent-a-cop power complex. YOU HAVE NO REASON TO GO TO THIS CLUB, there are better places within a few blocks in any direction. more

War Room is worth checking out 2/24/2009

I love the War Room. From Yo Son! (hip hop) on Saturdays to 2080's (80's mash-up) on Wednesdays, I always have a great time there. The dance floor is always hoppin', the upstairs deck is a great place to go when the crush of people gets too much or on just to enjoy a hot summer night, and the art in the joint is amazing, think it's done by the same artist who does OBEY clothing. \r \r The place continually has some of my favorite local DJs spinnin', Four Color Zack, DV One, and of course DJ Scene. And I like the crowd. Not the kind of cheesy night clubbers you'll see in a Pioneer Square club.\r \r Def one of my favorite spots in Seattle.\r \r Oh yeah, and the drinks? Stiff. more

I have been going to the War Room on and off for several years and have noticed the quality decline and definitely agree with the reviews below about rude treatment of customers. I was there on Friday night (hip hop night) with a large group for my sister's birthday. The women's restroom line was LONG around midnight. Only one toilet out of two in the women's toilet's was functioning. One of my guy friends was in the men's room and said he would guard the staff if I wanted to use the men's restroom. After using the restroom, I was washing my hands and a ""Peace Keeper"" (bouncer) saw me. He grabbed my arm and said ""You gotta go."" I had only had two drinks and was clearly sober and in control. As he grabbed my arm and escorted me out I asked if I had to leave the restroom and all he said was ""You gotta go"" while pushing me out of the club. When we were outside the club, he announced to the doorman, in front of everyone who was standing outside, that I could not come back in the club. This was humiliating!\r \r As the users below, I am not the troublemaking type. I am 27 years old and have NEVER been kicked out of a club, let alone any establishment!! I have been to the War Room several times in the past when the bouncers actually allow women to use the men's room when there are long lines. I would have appreciated being asked not to use the men's restroom if this was against the rules. \r \r I sent an email to explain this situation to Marcus at the War Room who put us on the guestlist. He has not responded and I'm very disappointed that they don't see any value in customer service.\r \r The War Room has a great layout and the rooftop lounge area is so nice in the summer. It's too bad they seem to be driving away the crowd that likes to have fun and can handle their liquor without getting into fights! They also lost at least $300 in drink sales as our group of about 20 all left after I was so rudely treated and kicked out. I will never return. Pros: Great layout, patio upstairs is nice, drinks are good Cons: Service is horrible, bouncers are rude and treat people like criminals more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The bouncers and security are ridiculous! I had a flashlight in my face more than 12 times throughout the night. I had only one or two drinks so it had nothing to do with my behavior, they were doing it to everyone at the place! At some points, I was just sitting on a couch talking with a girlfriend and I'd get a flashlight shining in my face coming from across the room. They obviously are now going overboard since they've had so much violence there recently. I would never spend a cover to get harassed like that again! Go to Baltic Room or Ballroom to dance, skip this place! more

Avoid at all costs 6/21/2008

I would never go back to this place. The bouncers and ""security"" were extremely rude and confrontational all night, and my friends and I are far from the troublemaking type. Apparently I stood in the wrong place several times, at which point the ""security"" promptly shined a bright flashlight in my eyes and rudely told me to ""get out of the way."" Besides the rude employees, the music was terrible techno that left the dancefloor empty. \r \r Overall it was a terrible waste of a cover charge. . .my rating would be two thumbs down! Cons: Rude ""security"" and bouncers, bad techno music more

They will rip you off if you run a tab. 5/30/2008

We went on Friday night. There were three of us. We had two tabs. Both of us who had tabs got ripped off by at least $50 each. (3 Miller lites and 3 well vodkas should not cost $124). The bouncers were rude and the music was awful. Do NOT go here unless you want to be treated poorly and ripped off. It's unfortunate that a place with such potential chooses to operate this way. more

Nice club atmosphere 2/21/2008

This place has a pretty nice club atmosphere for Capital Hill. The interiors are well-designed and there is always a fun and happening vibe in this place. Since it IS Capital Hill, there will always be some quirky people but no one ever bothers you or ruins your evening. Not really a good place to eat, but the drinks are decent enough. The music and atmosphere are the main draw, by far.\r \r As for the poor review below mine, I strongly suggest you think twice before respecting the review of someone who mimics the idiolect of a gang-banger and who obviously doesn't have any command of grammar or spelling. Pros: atmosphere, dancing/music Cons: parking, neighborhood more

The security guards at the War-Room do nothing but run there mouth but when it comes down to breaking up a fight they are all scared Beoochs. \r \r My cousin got sucka punched at the War-Room and nobody did anything to stop it and also my other friend got his teeth knocked out and where was the security guards? Sitting on there Phat Lazy A$$'s more

SING SING Friday's is the hippest party in Seattle! 10/31/2007

I was visiting from LA and came across an article in the Stranger about the War Room night called Sing Sing and decided to check it out. My mind was completely blown! It was packed but not too packed leaving some room for me and my girlfriends to tear it up allllll night. The crowd was made up of hipsters but there were also a lot of just normal people who all seemed to be having the time of their lives. People were stage diving, singing a long to songs, it was like a total circus! So much fun! \r \r The music was stuff that you would hear at Dim Mak Tuesday's @ Cinespace in LA or Dance Right @ La Cita with just as fashionable a crowd. I knew there had to be something like this in Seattle but I had yet to find it. I love you Sing Sing! Pros: Crazy fun dancing, Great music, Great crowd Cons: It only happens every 1st & 3rd Friday more

Pretty fun 8/2/2007

If you?re straight and like the thump thump music this is probably the place for you. A few of the bar tenders are really awesome. The djs are usually pretty good. The rooftop deck is just the best on a sunny afternoon ? especially when it isn?t crowded. If a dj is up there you?ll probably be treated to tragic straight-boy dancing.  It can be a little yuppie, so if that?s a turn off bring your own friends and just enjoy the deck. I haven?t been there on a busy Friday or Saturday night ? but during the day/evenings it?s very gay friendly. Pros: Rooftop deck + Sunny day = beautiful afternoon! Cons: a little yuppie, kinda straight more

A Multicultural, Multigenerational, Multigender, multi-anything you want it to be circus party! 6/26/2007

I title it, A Multicultural Circus beause everytime I have gone there I have had a different experience. The first time, there were ""pretentious seatttlelites"" partaking in happy hour on the roof top deck. That same night they were setting up for a lesbian dance. The next time I drove by their were a bunch of seattle's upcoming urban youth waiting in a long line outside. Then I went back again and I saw your typical teva wearing pasty seattle folk. Then I went back again and it was mostly asian crowd boppin to 80's beats. Ive seen every race at the War Room, maybe that why they named in the War Room. Those of you who thought Seattle lacked diversity, well your wrong. Go to the War Room and find out for yourself. But don't forget to check out what is going on during the different nights of the week or you may end up lost in the Circus. I support this place and and you should too so if you would like to help in the struggle to put Seattle on the map put your fist up and head to the War Room. more

Great Wednesday and Monday Night 6/25/2007

The War Room always seems to have great nights during the week. The breakdancing night on Monday has awesome music and you can catch the World Champion Massive Monkees from time to time. The Wednesday is a fantastic 80's night where people just let lose, no posing at all. I will say that on busy nights the bathroom is not the place you want to go if you are a woman. Also the secruity doesn't mess around so if you get out of hand stand on the stairs and stop the flow be prepared to hear about. All in all a great club with a roof to take a smoke break on with drinks that are poured correctly and stiff for a totally reasonable price. Pros: Great Music and Drinks Cons: Can get to busy more

great club 10/23/2006

this place attracts great club acts....Yo Son on Sat night is the place to be. they also get a lot of good looking girls here. i like the bartenders more

Great outdoor deck 7/13/2006

I have to admire any bar that has mint onhand to make my mojitos. Went on a wednesday night and the band playing downstairs was REALLY loud death metal type. The roof deck was relaxing and fun- plenty of tables and the line at the bar was short. Pros: Deck, ambiance Cons: Bands on weeknights more

Can we get another bathroom please? 7/18/2005

I loved the sophisticated look of this place with all of the wood, low lighting, artwork, and even the fresh flowers in the seating areas. The atmosphere and size of the place is great. I went on a Saturday and the music was awesome, some standard favorites - but also a few eclectic pieces thrown in here and there. My only complaint, and it's a big one to me, is the fact there is only TWO stalls in the womens bathroom. Pretty early in the evening, there was a line of about 20 or so ladies long - which I didn't want to wait in - so we left. Why do clubs never have enough bathrooms? People are drinking, they will have to use them. Pros: Atmosphere, Seating, Outdoor deck Cons: Bathroom line, Parking more

Worst Security Ever! 7/15/2005

I have worked in the service industry in Seattle for quite awhile now, and the security at The War Room are the worst. Especially the door guys. They are rude and think way too highly of themselves and their terribly cheesy establishment. I will never go back there unless it's on a Weekday. Thumbs way down for that place. Too bad too, because it could be really cool. One guy came up to me and asked me how many hearts I had broken that night. That place is lame on the weekends - another one bites the dust. Pros: decor, bartenders Cons: door guys, clientel more

What a concept! A dance club that's not cheesy! 6/19/2005

I went Friday and had a great time! The War Room has a big city vibe with rich lighting, funky artwork & house music that's actually fun to dance to. Great mix of people -- I met a number of foreigners (Italian, Australian, etc,.) and over half the crowd was 25+, which is such a bonus in this town. The only ""con"" is the SUPER LONG bathroom line. Two girlfriends were gone for 20+ minutes b/c the line was so long, which can be such a buzz kill! I got a sneak-peak at the gigantic, standing-room only, outside deck. It looks like a fun place to be, especially for hot summer nights. Also, it gives the smokers somewhere to go, therefore making it more comfortable for non-smokers inside. It is so nice to FINALLY have a fantastic, sophisticated club like this in Seattle. ""Make more clubs like this, not war!"" Pros: Great NYC atmosphere, Outside Deck, Good mix of people Cons: Heinous bathroom line more

Finally 5/25/2005

Finally there is a place to go in Seattle that is reminiscent of the bars/lounges of Los Angeles, New York and Florida. Love the roof top deck!!! Pros: comfortable, outside deck, classy feeling more

Feels like NYC 5/24/2005

Finally Seattle has a club with some atmosphere and a fresh deck to get away from all of the smokers. The sound system is solid and I love the large low back booths. Pros: nice artwork, huge liquor selection, fresh atmosphere more
