Cute place with friendly service. Had to wait about 20 min. to get in on a Sunday but it was worth it. Everyone's breakfast was excellent and the staff was above and beyond what...

I guess there aren't a lot of choices for brunch in downtown Santa Cruz, because this place was packed with a long line on a February Sunday morning at 9:30 am. The food was pala...

Impeccable... 9/16/2005

Always packed on the weekends, this is a good place to slip away too some cold, weekday morning when the stale bagel and cup of luke-warm coffee just aren't going to cut it. With breakfast favorites served all day, you can't go wrong. Eggs Benedict, Bacon and Eggs, Huevos Rancheros, Omlettes... this is the place to go for a carb overload of a breakfast. The wait staff is friendly, but food can be a while in coming during the weekends due to the volume of customers. Try their lattes or mochas, each arrived perfectly made. In the lattes, rings of espresso, milk and foam are done exquisitely, crowned with a dusting of chocolate. After you leave you'll feel warm, satisfied and ready to face your day head on. more

Excellent breakfest 8/18/2005

Walnut Cafe is one of the best places in town for breakfest. They offer several delicious plates including pancakes and (my favorite) walnut and banana french toast. Thick slices of french toast are topped with glazed walnuts, fresh bananas, and whipped cream (optional). I also ordered a hot chocolate which arrived in a tall glass overflowing with whipped cream. My total bill was about $13. The 9-grain pancakes (a steal at 4.75 for a short stack) are pleasant and come with a bit of butter and maple syrup. The atmosphere is cozy and is a great place to enjoy a morning chat. more
