I've been to Vona's before being a semi native to this area. And once again Vona's had great food and the best service.
It was crowded and we did have a wait but if it was over 15 minutes I'll be surprised. They have a waiting area but frankly it's not that great. Being right in front of the door, I could see very uncomfortable wait times in winter.
Ambience was great, food was fantastic. We got a seat right in front of the fireplace and the the adjoining tables were all quiet people. Such a great change from fast food or buffet dining. My son got confused by all the silverwear.
My friend was from out of state and expressed some concern at what we Upstater's consider "rare" which to her was "raw". My seafood trio was very well done except the scallops were over cooked, an easy to make mistake. I've yet to get great scallops around here so they were what I expected. The seafood was a bit tough, but given the time of year that's also expected.
My son had fried shrimp and ate the entire plate (not unusual for a 14 year old boy!!) and my friend from out of town enjoyed the buttermilk onion rings made from local onions so much she ordered a second helping!!
We adults skipped dessert but my son had a cheesecake with drizzled caramel that according to him was the BEST cheese cake he'd ever had. And he considers himself a true gourmand in cheese cakes.
Was a bit pricey, but again, this isn't buffet or fast food, so expect some big bills. Three people was around $72 not including tip. Waitress however earned her tip. She was excellent.
Parking was easy, for a crowded lot, and smoking area outside was appreciated by friend.
