It's weird to write a review about a French restaurant and talk about a hamburger. I have to tell you though, it's the best I've ever had. It starts with 7 ounces of Kobe beef w...

This is a restaurant I I loved since the day it opened. I went back on Halloween after a six month hiatus and it had totally changed. I know it is the same owner, because I spen...

Reasonably price French Bistro 4/15/2006

I've tried a wide range of French restaurants in Seattle and this is one of my favorites (the others are Mistral and Le Pichet). The staff always have great recommendations for wine. If you're going for red, go for the hanger steak with it. more

Perfection all around 4/4/2006

Voila! on Madison is one of those restaurants everyone seems to love. For good reason too- the french food is amazing. No matter what you order, you'll be delighted with the results. The menu is small but each entrée is given so many tasty details that your palate will surely be satisfied. For a small restaurant, they have a pretty big staff and they're always very attentive, personable, and one server even spoke in French! Great for a couple looking to treat themselves on a weekend evening. :-) more

Good Wine, food and attentive service 10/31/2005

We stopped in for a glass of wine and a cheese plate. The House Cotes du Rhone was very drinkable and went pretty well with the cheeses on the plate, which were varied and quite delicious. Presentation was slightly lacking, some more color on the cheese board would have helped, or a different plate (too much yellow and beige). But, the service was so attentive and people so nice that we decided to go back a few hours later for dessert. Creme brulee and Tarte Tatin (apple tart). Both were yum and they helped us choose nice wines to go with each. more

French bistro 9/23/2005

See my previous post. This little place is a touch of France: the right feel and charm, and great food. The prices are reasonable, and the carafes of wine are very good and a way to economize. more

Authentic bistro 9/16/2004

It's been years since I wanted to go to a French bistro but we always try the new neighborhood restaurants. We'll be back becasue we loved Voila. Although the restaurant was packed when we arrived for an 8:30 dinner we were seated within 20 minutes. The coq au vin was traditional and delicious, wine recomendations excellent and creme brulee smooth and sweet. Great service and atmosphere. I love this size of place - 15 or so tables. This space has been a revolving door for businesses. I hope this one will stay around. more

  • The Scene
This neighborhood restaurant mirrors a Parisian bistro; settings are simple and oversized posters for French spirits adorn the walls. A few patrons and staff conversing in French heightens the authenticity, and the old jazz and pleasant service provide the finishing touches for a convivial night out. In the spring and summer, diners can enjoy a meal in the back garden.

    The Food
The kitchen prepares moderately priced French dishes that Americans are accustomed to--from the rich stew of beef Bourguignonne to onion soup. For a zingy starter, choose the heart of palm with fennel. A tender rare steak and the hanger cut served in a shallot sauce hits the spot, although the coq au vin in a wild mushroom sauce can lack tenderness. But the moules frites takes the prize with its plump Alaskan mussels in a broth uniquely seasoned with fine blue cheese.
