It's not my goal to insult, nor am I an avid citysearch user but I HAD to write a review. I was born and raised in NY living in Queens/Manhattan and I've had what I've now come to...

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/9/2013

Seriously good pizza, amazing desserts and very friendly staff. more

Worst Delivery Ever! 11/1/2011

I love their pizza but waiting two hours when I'm told it has already gone out twice is just plain ridiculous. The only food that good is my mother's! Worst delivery ever! more

Best Pizza in town (alongside Joe's Pizza) 2/28/2010

There are some so-called ""NY'ers"" dogging this place and they are out of their minds. I was born/bred in Manhattan, lived in Queens/Brooklyn and am discriminating when it comes to pizza. Vito's (alongside Joe's Pizza) is without question the best pizza in LA! Now that there's authentic NY pizza in LA, I have no reason now to move back to NY! The thin crust is perfect, sauce is delicious and the ambience is like being back in the ""neighborhood"". The staff are so NY/Jersey...I feel like I'm back home. Go to Vitos-- you'll become a regular like myself and all my east coast croonies. Pros: Finally- NY Pizza in LA! Cons: Not enough seating more

Only NY pizza if you're NOT from NY... 2/20/2010

It's not my goal to insult, nor am I an avid citysearch user but I HAD to write a review. I was born and raised in NY living in Queens/Manhattan and I've had what I've now come to realize the honor of having some of the best pizza in the world! Every street pizza spot is amazing and blows Vito's out of the water. Something is not quite right w/the sauce.. the taste is off.. & there's no drip and stretch of the cheese like in a NY slice. the cheese just sits there like a bad over Ellio's slice. Save the pizza urge for the East Coast. Go for Bossanova or In N Out instead... Pros: still thinking Cons: strange after taste.. more

LA Fluff trying to be something it is not. 9/12/2009

It is a shame. The food use to be o.k. The quality is slipping and is very expensive. They overcharge you sometimes so check your bill? Dine in is cramped and they have no TV's. What kind of real pizzeria has no TV's to watch the game. I was in there and the guy manager was dancing around to Britney Spears! In New York that would fetch you a beating. Do yourself a favor and go to your better options in LA. Joes, Mulberry etc. Pros: Good Meatballs Cons: Annoying Manager (bald guy) food is inconsistent. more

This is not NY pizza 5/6/2009

Also ended up there because so many people said it is flgreat NY pizza. Unfortunately, was disappointed. The reviewers should qualify if they lived in NY at least 3years or more. This seems to appeal to non-new yorkers who don't know much about pizza. The dough looks good; but lacks substance and taste. Ingredients are not good quality. I am a transplant; been in LA over 20 years; frequently travel to NY; other than Mulberry St pizza (which is at best a B- by NY standards LA has no good pizza; still hopeful for the future though. more

Best pizza around. more

overrated and too expensive 11/11/2008

I got cheese slices because I wasn't going to spend $16.50 on pizza I've never tried before. The sauce was great but I don't like burnt crust. I don't like crunchy pizza especially burnt ones. I prefer soft chewy crust with more sauce and more cheese. It just isn't worth what their asking for Pros: great sauce Cons: very expensive, hard crust more

Great Slice 10/13/2008

This is by far the best slice in LA. Great toppings, the best quality cheese, and a perfect crust. Get the plain cheese or the white pie, crazy good stuff. Pros: Toppings, Cheese, Crust Cons: Makes me fat more

I'm eating it right now 8/12/2008

Seriously, I'm in front of my computer eating Vito's pizza right now. Friggin delicious. I also got a salad on the side and the vegetables are very fresh, which isn't always the case at pizza joints. I'd recommend Vito's to anyone looking for a real pizza in LA, particularly as most East Coast transplants know how hard it is to find good pizza out here. Vito's is it. Pros: Friggin Delicious Cons: n/a more

Excellent Pizza 7/18/2008

Ooh man! this pizza is huge and the TASTE is Huge too! Very good best I have had in the WEHO area yet! only negative is it is a little pricey! You better have a friend to share it with, also the calzone's are GREAT too but ask for extra sauce! I recommend give it a try next time instead of pizza hut you will be pleased! Pros: Good PIZZA!!!! Cons: Costy $$ more

New York PIzza my eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4/29/2008

I ate at this joint after reading the reviews in CitySearch. \r Being born & raised in New York City, I know a little something about New York Pizza. I decided to go there after my LA spot Albano's closed. This pizza could not even hold a candle to NYC pizza. I asked for extra sauce on the pizza and these knuckleheads poured it on top...I mean come on....who is making these pizzas?\r The crust was dry, flavorless, no chew to it at all which is the best part of a New York slice, a nice thin chewy crust. I will never eat there again and if I'm ever in the mood for real New York pizza.....I'll just buy me a ticket and fly back home. For those of you who claim this pizza is authentic, you must have not have any taste buds or appreciate the true texture of a New York slice. Where in the hell have you been eating Sbarro? What added insult to injury is that 1 large Pepperoni & 3 cokes was 28.00. Are you friggin kidding me??? Pros: No pros Cons: horrible, horrible pizza more

You MUST BE KIDDING ME! 4/21/2008

Well, after reading the reviews here, I decided to give Vito's Pizza a try. I actually wanted a Calzone but Vito's oven was too full and they couldn't make me a Calzone. I guess that would have taken some space away that Vito needed for it's $28.00 XL (18 inch) pizza. I am sorry but the pizza was very average for $28. I usually spend a lot of money on food in places such as Katana on Sunset, Vice Roy, (Now the) BLT on Sunset and many other expensive restaurants so the problem is not the $28 for a pizza but the quality of the pizza that you get for the money. ""you get what you pay for"" but not in this place. The pizza is average and I would probably go to the other little places to get good pizza. Pros: Convinient location Cons: Expensive for average quality more

A GEM! 4/21/2008

One of my FAVORITE restaurants in LA, if not my ultimate favorite. Not only is the food INCREDIBLE, the people that work there are AMAZING. Vito (THE Vito from Vito's Pizza) is there most nights behind the counter w/ a huge smile. This is how food is supposed to be eaten. Cooked fresh daily. The pizza is to die for, and don't even get me started on the pasta dishes. The pesto penne and the baked ziti...>WOW!\r \r You have to try this. Eat it. Love it. Pros: EVERYTHING, from the food to the available parking to the people and then back to the food! Cons: nothing i can complain about. more

my favorite in LA so far 1/12/2008

good pizza. pasta dishes are good also and I know they make a variety of good meal's. I am a transplant from NJ (which I hear vito is also) I I know my fair share of good pizza and italian joints and VITO can definitely hang with them if he was out east.\r \r i love the bread also Pros: great NY pizza in LA Cons: it is a little pricey , i have had trouble parking in the mall when busy. more

Yummy 11/29/2007

Vito's provides NY classic pizza. The pizza is taste very good. Thin crust with different kind of toppings. more

Goes Toe to Toe with the Best Pizzas in NY 10/26/2007

This place does pizza right. As much as I enjoy a California style pizza with a bunch of odd toppings, I still need to have a slice that reminds me of a good, New York style pizza and I always find what I'm looking for at Vito's. An excellent crust combined with fresh toppings are cooked to absolute perfection. For first timers, I'd recommend the Terra Firma as your introductory slice. If you're a mushroom fan, the wild mushroom pizza is the one to get (whole pie only). For those that like a little kick of heat on their pizza, have a slice of the Garibaldi - beef, tomato, and jalapenos. My normal order is two slices - a sausage/mushroom and either a veggie or white pie slice (a 4 cheese pizza). Although I miss the days when Vito's was walking distance from my house in East Hollywood, he has definitely upped his pizza quality which translates to great news for pizza fans and bad news for all other pizza joints within 10 miles of Vito. Pros: Perfect Pizza Cons: Parking can be hard to find and there aren't a lot of tables more

Too Pricey for me... 10/23/2007

i consider myself a successful woman. i live in west hollywood in a 1 bedroom, pay my own rent, my car etc... anyways my point is the pizza was good but the price was insane. i had a lg pie, a salad and 2 cokes delivered. 38 i was floored... and a delivery charge to boot. too pricey for me and i feel for the neighborhood. last i checked this isn't beverly hills...its west hollywood, single people living in apartments, not families living in multi million dollar houses... good luck. but i can't afford it 3 times a month, i'll stick with another place. Cons: too pricey more

Molto Bene 10/15/2007

Oh thank god someone recommended Vito's. I am a recent transplant from NYC/NJ and everything I have tried in Los Angeles called pizza has been some of the worst food I've eaten in a long time. Vito's is not only passable, even if it were in NYC or NJ, this is really good pizza and well prepared italian food.\r \r I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Vito is also a transplant from NJ. :o)\r \r Buon appetito! Pros: Da Pizza silly Cons: Are outgrowing their small strip mall space more

NEVER AGAIN $35 for one pizza! 10/11/2007

I thought I posted this last week but somehow it disappeared. I think someone must have had it deleted...but here goes again:\r I just read another review about an $18 about a $35 dollar pizza. Yes, that's right THIRTY FIVE. I called to see what sizes they had, I was told 18"". I asked about what the price range was, they said it starts around $17 and goes up. My boyfriend is in that area, so i call him and we debate about toppings and settle on just veggies. I call and order it, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms. I call my boyfriend back and he asks for their number so he call and have them add artichokes. I tell him I am very hungry..hurry home. He gets here and then I ask what it cost him so I can chip in. $35!!!!!!! He says he decided to just get the veggie pizza, which by the way folks, only has spinach, broccoli, tomatoes and feta. He added artichokes since I like them and sauce since it didn't have any already. They charge him $3.50 for the artichokes and another $2.50 for the sauce totally $35. I called Vito's back up livid. I asked how did it get this much. He gave me the price breakdown and then said that's just their prices. I said I could go to fine dinning and get that price, he said nothing. Now, I get my boyfriend should not have paid for that but he just knew I was hungry and assumed since I called up there asking about their pizzas and prices, that I already knew. I will NEVER return and I will warn my friends as well! Pros: I know better to never go again Cons: outrages prices and it wasn't even that good more
