cute place, friendly host but that's all 1/30/2008

They 'missed' my entree and had to rush to prepare it.... after everyone was over half way finished mine came out. The seabass was ok but the scallops were a little on the raw side. To add insult, for desert, 6 of us ordered berries and yes, they 'forgot' mine....again they rushed and threw a handful of berries on a plate.\r \r What made this so bad is that NO ONE apologized at all...how can you 'forget' someone's order?? Pros: cute place, friendly host Cons: servers, service and food more

Molto Bene! 12/18/2007

Visconti is a welcome treat to mid-town! I work in Mid-Town and am always in search of a spot that has great food and that can give great service during a business lunch. I have found it! I have been to this spot 5 times since it opened and was impressed to see Giuseppe the owner always at the front door running the show. I have known him for a while from when he managed Cellini. Everything from the pastas to the crunchy Arthur ave. bread is a real treat. Also, make sure you ask for the homemade cookies to wrap up the meal with - I love the chocolate ones! Molto Bene!\r \r Pros: Beautiful, Private Club-Like Atmosphere more

If you're looking for great food and excellent service you've got to try this place! 11/9/2007

I went to Visconti for a birthday celebration and was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent from the moment I walked into the door. They have a really cozy lounge area where I waited for the rest of my party. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the staff was the most attentive waitstaff I'd encountered in a long time. The food was to die for, we had an array of appetizers, each one of them fresh and full of flavor and our meals were equally delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back there again. Its directly across the street from Tao's and a much better alternative in my opinion. Pros: Food and Service were impeccable Cons: No really a restaurant to take kids unless they are over the age of 10 more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE 2/23/2006

The service seemed friendly at first, but then it went downhill shortly after we were seated. We waited about 20 mins until we could get a drink and for them to bring us menu's. The waiter never once came back to our table to ask how our meal was OR if we needed another drink. We also never had our water glasses refilled. The waiter served our dessert with some of the dinner plates still on the table...and when it was time to pay the bill, we waited another 1/2 hour before we finally had to ask for it. Our waiter ignored us and it truly was a horrible experience, a first experience like that that I have ever had in a New York city restaurant. The restaurant wasn't even busy the night we had dinner there...so there was no excuse for them to act the way that they did. more

Good food 2/25/2005

This place was right around the corner from where I was staying during a recent visit to NYC. The food was good, reasonably priced, and the service great. I ordered the lobster pasta with a spicy tomato sauce and a salad and wasn't able to finish all of the pasta but that certainly wasn't because of the taste! For NY standards this place seemed pretty casual and not too pretentious. I'd go back the next time I visit. more
