Vincent's In Little Italy 10/5/2006

You want Italian food and you're in New York City... that narrows it down to about... I don't know... a million choices. I'll narrow it down to ONE for you. Vincent's is on Mott St in the heart of Little Italy and surrounded by all the Italian-American culture you can stand. It's just north of Canal street and around the corner from Mulberry, which is the place to be during the San Gennaro feast. You'll walk right in with hardly a wait if it's not during that feast, of course. But you'll go there again and again for the sauce; which, incidentally, you can buy in the jar as well. Ok, it's not the fanciest place on the planet, nor the most expensive and maybe not even the best, but it's definitely a place that cannot be overlooked. more

Little Italy 9/16/2005

This restaurant has been in business for many years. They are the original Vincent's from Little Italy! I've been going there since I was a little girl. They are strictly a seafood restaurant. For most of the menu the food is average, so is the service. What I go there for is the fried calamari and fried shrimp. I've tried it everywhere else, but I always come back. Their's is the best!! If you don't mind spicy red sauce I recommend the medium sauce with your order. If you're not sure order the sauce on the side. You won't regret it. They have bottled their spicy marinara sauce, which is available for purchase at the restaurant. A little pricey about $9 a bottle, but it's well worth it. I recommend using it at home with some sautéed shrimp. Mangia!! more

Great sauce! 8/31/2005

A small restaurant on the border of Chinatown / Little Italy. The staff is very courteous & tends to remember you. There usually isn't a wait here, except during the festival in September. They have an excellent red sauce in 3 different levels of spicyness: mild, medium or hot. The friend shrimp over linguini with medium sauce is great! The bread they serve is usually dry & cold, but the main entrees are good! more
