First of all, I think Paul and Jake may be thinking of a different place...I have never seen what they listed as "not straight" crowd (and who would care anyway) and I've been the...

First I agree with everything that TOADMAN said. Second the pros, it has lots of decent TV"s, not bad atmosphere, and I didn't think it was that dirty. During the day, you may fi...

Monday Will Now Be Called Pub Night 9/20/2005

The Village Pub might be a trek from downtown or Capital Hill to Magnolia, but once in Magnolia, the parking is easy and the busses run every 25 minutes or so. In other words, getting there is the hard part, and it's not even that hard. The easy part is staying to watch any sporting event on one of their flatscreen tv's (one at each table and then 3 or 4 mounted large screens), especially at happy hour, but ESPECIALLY on Monday's from 10-Close when wells are 1 dollar and the pool table, darts machine, jukebox, and touchscreen game machine are all ready to be used (They are always available, but c'mon, it might take some dollar wells to really get into "Word Search".) The food is a bit pricy, and the drinks are decent, but not stiff by any means, but the atmosphere and specials make it worthwhile on a Monday night or during any sporting event that's important to you, but not available at home. more

An Oasis in Magnolia 8/19/2005

The Village Pub has gone through many changes in the last few years. One of the few local bars in the heart of Magnolia, it really doesn't need to do much to draw people in, but it still evolves. The latest addition is s a flat screen television at every table. It is the American dream, to eat and watch telly. The food here is absolutely delicious, especially for pub food. I have yet to have an item I didn't like. I highly recommend the Magnolia Chicken Burger. It's topped with guacamole- something I usually don't like-and it's very tasty. Lunch is a good time to go if you want a little quiet, and it can even be a working lunch because they offer free wi-fi. I tend to avoid it on the weekends because it becomes a bit of a meat market, but if you like that, then go check it out! more
