This Gramercy Park treasure is one of the most exciting restaurants I have tried in recent memory. The staff will do their best to help you pair the right wine with your meal - if you are not a connoisseur, don't be intimidated - they are very helpful. Be warned, however, that a lot of the wines are VERY pricy, so do not be shy about saying how much you are willing to spend if you ask them to pick the wine for you. The food is just superb - my smoked salmon appetizer was heavenly; my cod entree perfectly prepared; my dining companion's venison (I never thought I would ever taste venison!) was a revelation, cooked rare with a delicious pepper coating; and dessert is an appropriately rich and satisfying conclusion. All in all, a real gem of a restaurant with lots of class and little pretention.
