OverRated 9/19/2008

I agree with the negative reviews below. The dresses for my wedding are BEAUTIFUL but they were not worth the anxiety, disorder and utterly unpleasant experience that we went through. The staff at Vera Wang Maids on Madison is horrible- the girls are rude, they do not return emails or phone calls. We had 3 girls help us over the course of 4 weeks. When you call you're on hold for 10 minutes ... there are far more beautiful dresses at nicer places in the city. I have ever left a negative review- but with the stresses that come as part of planning a wedding- being afraid that your dresses won't come in (will come in in the wrong size) ... should not be a part of it all. I think that any positive reviews are left by the girls who work there- there would be no other explanation. Pros: Beautiful Dresses Cons: Rude, Unhelpful, Not Nice Sales-People more

Pretty dresses, ugly experience 5/14/2008

The dresses are lovely but you can get the same look for less elsewhere. If I could go back and do it over again I would have ordered from anywhere else actually. Vera Wang Maids is definitely resting on it's laurels. Apparently having the brand name of Vera Wang behind them allows them to feel that they can have an unattractive showroom and terrible staff. I had four different sales people in the four months it took to get dresses ordered. None of them were able to follow through with order forms, return emails or give me accurate information on where we were in the ordering process. I think one of them even got fired. Every time they changed my sales person I never found out until one of the bridesmaids email to tell me that no one was getting back to them. Then beyond that the ordering was a total mess. I just felt so embarassed for having put my friends through such a frustrating experience. Don't do it. Really. Pros: Many styles and colors Cons: Staff, value and experience more

deplorable customers 9/21/2007

my experience at vera wang maids was positively delightful. more

Deplorable service 8/27/2007

Horrible service. I'm not a bridezilla, I'm not even a bride; all I wanted to do was pick up my bridesmaid gown. I dutifully called ahead and spoke with someone named Marco. Marco inititally told me the gown was already picked up and they didn't have it in the store. When I insisted no one authorized to do so ever picked up the gown, he initially insinuated I was lying, insisting that I forgot I picked up the gown myself. Only after I told him that it was impossible because I wasn't even in town the day he claimed my gown was picked up did he tell me he would figure out what happened and call me back. Two (stressful) hours later he calls back to tell me he made a mistake. Okay, no harm , no foul, I think. I then asked him when I could pick up the dress and he told me I did not need an appointment, and that I could pick up my gown any time between open and closing. I arrive minutes before closing and the doors are already locked. When someone finally does come out to speak to me, she had the worst possible attitude and tells me that no dress pick ups are allowed after 5pm anway (which I suppose is why it doesn't matter that they shut down shop before official quitting time). I understand on a Friday evening and everyone wants to get home but so do I. Beside that, there's no need to give your customers a bad attitude just because you are lazy and want to get home. Just apologize for the inconvenience and offer to ship the gown or tell me the turth about when I can return. All in all, pretty deplorable service. more

Great customer service! 7/25/2007

I wasn't sure about going to Vera Wang Maids after reading some of the reviews, but now I'm thinking these were left by bridezillas. My experience was FANTASTIC!! I wasn't sure what I wanted, and Erin happily brought me all kinds of dresses for my bridesmaids to try on and gave me tons of fabric swatches to take home. She even squeezed me in to a second last-minute appointment when my maid of honor, who lives out of town, came in one weekend. Although my dresses haven't come in yet, so I can't say anything about that yet, I felt like I was Erin's only customer. She answered all my emails within hours and worked with each of my bridesmaids personally. So far, this experience has been the best and least-stressful part of planning my wedding. more

Avoid Vera Wang! 7/28/2006

Worst company to buy a dress from. You better really love that dress before you sign the contract because they will NOT give you a refund on your deposit nor will they allow you to transfer your funds to a different dresss. I was basically told that I could forfeit my two thousand dollar deposit. Oh yes Vera Wang...let me DONATE 2 grand to you so you can resell my dress and make a hefty profit off of me. Seriously folks... You can find a gorgeous dress elsewhere. The name is not worth the price of the headache and rude behavior of their staff. I am so disenchanted with the whole experience that I am literally counting the days until I can see my dress. more

The worst company and staff 6/2/2006

To carry a name like Vera Wang, I would expect that good service would be a given with the price that is being paid. The staff is arrogant, their customer service is terrible, they do not provide alteration services on their own dresses. There aren't enough negative words in the English dictionary to describe the drama that occurs after they take your money. Dresses were ordered and paid for. And then the nightmare began. The dresses were ordered in January and guaranteed for delivery in late April/early May. The dresses were late and arrived three weeks before the wedding day (about 30 days late). Measurements were wrong, dresses didn't fit, but the wedding must go own! The beauty of the brand will cost you an arm, a leg, a few migraines, & a handful of stomach ulcers. Pros: asthetically pleasing Cons: poor service more

Does Vera know about this? Terribly bad service. 5/24/2005

Horrible reception area. Waited literally 30 minutes to just talk to the people. Only 1 group in front of us, they were picking up their gowns. Staff couldn't find their paperwork, rushed around to put gown in bags...etc. No AC. Nobody even acknowledge us. Shouldn't the reception area reserved for answering calls and receiving customers? All I want is to make an appointment. Answer : ""there is nothing we can do for you"". Apparently no appointment for the rest of the year (and it's April), which later I learned that's not true. OK, I understand they're busy and in high demand. But you guys are in the service business. So, please, unless you're nominated for an Oscar or your name is Oprah, don't bother with this place. Go somewhere else where people appreciate you spending 4-5 digit on a dress. Pros: Vera Wang Cons: They don't care, Arrogant staff, Hectic like a farm more
