10 words or less: Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic. Eat here! Trust me!\r \r Now, my wordy review. This is my new favorite vegan restaurant anywhere! It's been here a long time, but I just discovered it. It was the best food I have ever had. I tried a lot of the things on the menu, and each one was better than the next! I started with Jamaican Veggie Patty with Ackee. Oh, it was SO delicious. It's an appetizer and big enough to share with a friend if you are also getting a regular meal. It was so hearty and tasty! Next time, I won't be sharing it with anyone! I then ordered the "No-Bull Vegan Bar-B-Que Ribs Sandwich". It is served on a wheat baguette and was simply out of this world. The "meat" was so tender and flavorful. It came with a beautiful salad with dark greens and carrots, etc. It was plenty of food. In between the courses, my server brought us a sampling of a delicious strawberry / pineapple smoothie. The little sample left me wanting more! It was very good. My friend had a fantastic full meal. It was the Wednesday special of Curried Chicken Vegan Nuggets. It came with a lot of other good stuff - a salad, some delicious rice, cabbage that was so good, and something called soya. I don't know what soya is, but it was amazing; it was like a little stew with soy meat in it! I could really go on and on about the food, but you get the picture. Everything was delicious and very fresh tasting. Our server was a wonderful young man who was quick to explain everything on the menu. The service was really great. We were given a sample of a fantastic coconut thing for dessert. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was good. There are several choices of vegan desserts, we were just too full to order anything else.\r \r There are a lot of tables inside, and it is also a store filled with lots of healthy stuff to buy. It was very clean. Parking is free in front of the restaurant; no problem there.\r \r I can't wait to go back here. Miami lacks great vegan places and I so glad to have a new place to eat. I enjoyed it immensely. Oh, and the prices are great. Everything was very reasonably priced; my sandwich was $9.75, and my friend's huge meal was only $9.95 - the value is superb.\r \r DIRECTIONS: Ok, there seems to be issues about finding this place; I had no problem at all. It's only a couple blocks east of I-95 on 167th Street. If you are going towards I-95 (west) on 167th Street, turn into the parking lot before the Wendy's and the restaurant is right in front of you (strip mall with a white barrel-tile roof). If you get to North Miami Avenue, you've gone too far (the Wendy's is on the corner of N Miami Ave and 167th). It you are going away from I-95 (east) on 167th, make a U-turn on NE 2nd Avenue - go up a block, then, again, turn in before the Wendy's. It's on the north side of 167th Street. more

Hands down the best vegetarian food I've had since moving from NYC. The food is delicious and unlike some vegetarian places, it's also healthy. Hakin Hassan's beyond hospitable, greeting me the second I walked in. His introduction to the restaurants offerings was so well presented that i told him he was in control of my meal. And, that was the best decision I could have made. It took me less then ten mins to eat but I stayed for over an hour having delightful and insightful conversations with hakin and his other patrons. I can't wait to return! This place is highly recommended for all types of eaters- it's how food should be more

i have been there two times. the first was about year ago and i have to admit the people were great, but the food not so much. i was there again last night and am happy to report that it was excellent-this time both the food and people. we got there at 8 and even though they closed at 5, edwin was all too happy to help us and make up 3 dinners without any problem at all. it took a little while, but we shmoozed with him and hakin and were very glad we returned to try it again. we had a slight miscommunication, sorry about that hakin, but it was taken care of on the phone without any hassle and we are all good. i have been a vegetarian for over 30 years and would strongly recommend anyone either visiting the area or living here to give this place a go-you won't be sorry you did. the prices are more than fair and food is very good. just be careful pulling into and out of the parking lot as it is kind of hard to see from the road, which is a main street and people are zooming right by it. more

If you are vegetarian/vegan and live in North Miami put your computer to sleep and GO HERE IMMEDIATELY. As I sat there eating tonight I said to my friend, "I wish I weighed 100 lbs more so I could eat another dinner." \r \r ... it's that good. Plus the service is incredible. As my friend and I drove back from Vegetarian Restaurant we just kept repeating how the experience "made our night." As someone who recently moved to Miami this place is refreshing; it's friendly, healthy and full of the good vibes I've noticed are rare to find in the 305. more

I've been to this restaurant when it was under a different management and I remember the food being to die for. Not to long ago I ordered take out for my boyfriend and it was not the same place. The menu was written on a white board and 2/3 of the menu was unavailable, granted i did get there an hour and half before closing. The staff was friendly which made the wait bearable but the food was disappointing. Didn't like the texture nor the flavor. Will not go back and will not recommend. more

Hakin serves up some of the most delicious Caribbean American cuisine I've ever enjoyed! I could have easily eaten every meal of my recent trip to Miami here and never tired of it. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, Hakin's winning smile and warm hospitality made my mom and I feel instantly at home.\r \r While Mom enjoyed a tall glass of pineapple juice,(she never eats lunch), I indulged in an amazing plate made up of Seitan BBQ Ribs, Curry Herbed Tofu, Herb Tomato Chunks, Quinoa with Spinach and Carrots, and Sautéed Bok Choy along with a glass of freshly squeezed Carrot-Beet-Apple Juice. From the very first bite, I could tell how much love went into the preparation of this exquisitely prepared meal.\r \r Not that I really had room for it, but Hakin tempted me with his Pineapple Tofu Cake, and so I relented and ordered a small slice. Without hesitation, I can safely say that it was the most scrumptious pineapple cake I've ever eaten, even surpassing my own pineapple upside down cake, which up until now, I thought was pretty awesome. The heavenly buttercream frosting was sinfully rich, and the cake was sweetly moist and filled with little chunks of pineapple. I didn't think I'd finish the whole thing, but I polished it off in no time. I was really glad Hakin talked me into it!\r \r On my last morning in Miami, I worked for a few hours and then headed back to Hakin's for a hearty breakfast and some empanadas to take with me on the 10-hour journey home. \r \r The Blueberry Pancakes and Scrambled Tofu were absolutely delicious. I enjoyed them with a Pineapple-Banana Smoothie and Hakin's lively company. What a delectable breakfast!\r \r The next time you're in Miami (or if you're lucky enough to live there), run, don't walk to Vegetarian Restaurant by Hakin. You'll be treated to one of the best meals of your life. more

Disappointed. I and a friend stopped in around 11AM the other day. They were out of most of the items on the menu- and considering it's a white-board menu that could have been updated, it was a little frustrating to ask for item after item until we got an "ok- we do have that." I had a tofu wrap. It took over 30 minutes to prepare, and we were the only customers. The wrap was a regular commercial spinach tortilla wrap, filled mostly with over cooked brown rice. The tofu was rubbery and scarce, and there were two small pieces of uncooked carrot thrown in with some cabbage shreds. The wrap was clearly microwaved, it came out steaming hot- not just the filling, the whole thing. Just horrible. And, it came to almost $10 with a cup of tap water to drink. I'm big on second chances, but my friend's sunburger was similarly bad, so I'm not giving this one another chance. more

Not only is this place affordable (even though no prices are listed on the menu), the food is fantastic, a wonderful combination of flavors. Something for every vegetarian or non veggie person. A must try is the soup!!! more

See the full review with pics at Marty's Flying Vegan Review at:\r\r \r Well, if the name isn't the most generic sounding name of any restaurant I don't know what is.\r \r After a GPS navigational error I found the unobtrusive place at the corner of a strip mall. It's not a a *corner* just the corner of this group of stores. There are more things to the left.\r \r \r The place had both a too small cramped feeling about it to the left, where the counter was with a (really?) massage chair stuffed into the corner, (Not for waiting, only for massage customers), and an open airy stay as long as you want zen mediation health food items on shelves for sale kitchen chairs on tables sort of feel to it.\r \r I sort of had a need for a true Jamaican Veggie Pattie. They homemake 4: Soya, chicken, spinach and I can't remember. (Served only to us pre alzheimers folks).\r \r There was no chicken, (of course), so I had a soy. It was soooooo good. Little bits of soy protein that gave the patty a nice chewy mouthfeel and the corn just popped with sweet explosions and mixed with all the other veggie flavor. The crust was a tad on the crumbly/dry side but it was whole wheat and there was more than enough moist filling to go around.\r \r I had to be in Miami to take care of some stuff and did manage to wait to eat the ... of course you know what it is, the Philly Cheeze Steak sandwich.\r \r Man, I think this was one of the best I ate ever. The whole wheat bread had that perfect crust and chewy middle with a great combination of sweet and yeasty.\r \r The seitan was definitely home made and was combined with the cheese to form this mushy yet textured meaty filling. And, and, and, ... more

I'm a long time vegetarian, and met up with a buddy who isn't veg but who keeps kosher, and was willing to give this a try. We both loved it. The Philly Steak sandwich was awesome, the large meal was awesome (we were visiting town and went our first night and our last night!)\r \r They take real pride in making food that is very tasty and very healthy - just well thought out and well presented. Very nice people too.\r \r Go for the food. The healthy eating is a fringe benefit. more

The menu at this restaurant is vegetarian with a carribbean influence. There is no better place in the Greater Miami area to get tofu. The spinach patties, made in the tradition of Jamaican beef patties, are to die for. All meals are prepared without use of animal products (no meat, fish, milk, or eggs). more
