Mike was friendly and the experience was painless. He worked quickly and the price was less than he estimated! How often do you encounter that?

I like Mike, too 10/30/2009

I've been going to Mike's for twenty years plus, and have always found he does a good job at a VERY fair price. He won't sell me what I don't need, and warns me if he finds something I should watch out for. more

Outstanding 9/5/2009

Just returned from Mike's. His work is outstanding. And... the nicest, most honest mechanic you will find. He convinced me to NOT dump my Jetta TDI in the river. NB more

I Like Mike 7/6/2009

In all serious, this is the fairest, most trustworthy VW resource in town. I don't think it's necessarily suited for a complete show-qualityrestoration (though he sees some nice ones brought in!) But he will perform quality work and give sound advice at a reasonable price every time for your beloved daily driver. Thanks for being a good man and skilled mechanic Mike! more

Mike is awesome. Highly recommended. 3/26/2009

Mike knows his way around VW/Audi's. I had my 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T in for a timing belt replacement. I had purchased a timing belt kit and called Mike on the advice of a friend. I setup an appt. for a couple weeks later and he did the job for a great price. The dealer would have wanted easily double maybe even triple what I paid just for the labor alone. He also had the integrity and honesty to admit he did not change thermostat in the process, which didn't bother me because the dealer had done this already last year and I know what a major pain they are to break loose. He also told me if I had any problems with the thermostat down the road to let him know. Many mechanics would have simply kept the part I'd already paid for and never said a word. The car runs great. Mike even cleared some fault codes at no charge. You can't go wrong with this guy. I'll never go anyplace else. -Ray more

Excellent Service at a very inexpensive price. 7/9/2007

I found Mike's Import by doing a web search. I first visited him to look over a 1985 Westfalia I wanted to buy back in Sept. 2006. He didn't charge me anything for going over the vehicle and doing a brief test drive. When I needed the rack and pinion replaced in June of 2007 (the vehicle had been up on blocks for 10 years and the seals dried out) I had him do the work after getting several estimates in the $250 to $300 price range for labor. I had purchased the part myself. It took roughly 3 hours (he works alone and is sometimes interrupted by phone calls or visitors) and he charged less than half of the other estimates. He clearly knows the Vanagon and VW's extremely well, has written technical articles for publication and is more than fair in what he charges. I have no hesitation about recommending him most highly. You'll Be Astonished 8/21/2005

If you own a VW, you'll be astonished at the honesty, quick response and competitence of Mike Iacono's repair. The first time I went to his shop, I told him I needed brakes all around and lef thte car there and he called me 2 hours later and said I only needed the front pads replaced and it would cost $90. This was half the price of my other quotes and he could have easily replaced all and I would have gone along. The next time I wanted a tune up and he did the whole job for $42 and the lowest quote I got any other place was $125. I used to go to Parents Garage on Lyndale Ave south but they had repair delays, additional charges, and were much more expensive. Iacono is great for one off repairs and schedule maintenance. He doesn't have the computerized diagnostics that the VW dealers have (that makes me suspecious of them) but he is a VW specialist and he knows his stuff. He will order parts and also find inexpensive solutions if you have an emergency like a transmission problem and very little budget. more
