Simply The Best Veterinary Hospital Around 1/31/2011

These people were extremely professional and really seemed to enjoy what they do. There were several customers who came in during my time there, the front desk girls knew the animals by name and why they were there and it was just, simply, the way it should be.\r \r I live in California, but was visiting family in Virginia for the holidays. I brought my German Shepherd, Jake, with me. I had been wanting to get his teeth professionally cleaned, but it is so ridiculously expensive that I had been putting it off. My wife contacted New Kent and they quoted me a price that I thought was a mistake. Seriously. I called them 3 times to verify what they quoted us.\r \r So, I took Jake in, while still thinking that they were going to pull some bait-and-switch or something. Or, while Jake was under they call me and give me the news about all the teeth that need to be removed and now my bill is $1000...etc, you get the idea.\r \r There was none of that.\r \r They did a great job, they took care of my buddy, and now he's not Mr StinkyBreath anymore! ;-)\r \r Thanks!\r \r Kevin & Jake more

Professional, Friendly, Compassionate. 6/30/2010

Bravo!, A Veterinary Hospital with staff that cares about not only the Pets, but the clients also. Here you do not feel like a dollar sign when you walk in the door, you feel like a friend. The Receptionist greet you with a smile, and most often by name. They always greet my pet also. This is a busy Veterinary Office, and as with ANY Doctors office there may be some days that you may have to wait, however at least here if the Dr is running a little behind, they keep you informed, and give you options. I have told everyone I know that this is the place to go. Of course there are some people that can not be pleased ,no matter what you do. So to the Dr's and staff , don't worry to much about the disgruntled reviews, those are the ones who probably expect to go to a new human dr and not have to be seen to get their medication. Anyway, all of my friends that use this animal hospital are always pleased, and we refer people all the time . Dont let the one bad apple spoil it for all. more

First Encounter 6/12/2010

I had an unfortunate first experience with this vet hospital. I moved to the area and decided to switch to this vet since they were closer. I called explaining this and that my dog was due for heartguard. I was informed that they would need my dog's vaccination records and heartworm test and then could give me the medicine. I had this information faxed and called back and set an appointment for a checkup a month later when he was due, and was informed me that I could come pick up the medication during their business hours since my dog was due for the medicine and since all his vaccinations and tests were up-to-date. When I arrived they would not give me the medicine stating I had to make another appointment for the heartguard only. They were unwilling to help me in my situation and were incredibly rude and unapologetic for misinforming me. I have never written a bad review before, but this was not a nice encounter. The vets may be nice, but I did not appreciate how mean the front desk was and how no one was willing to lift a finger to help me or even apologize. I had to drive an hour that day to my old vet just to pick up heartguard. I will not return to this vet after this experience. more

Caring, understanding Staff and Doctors. 5/1/2009

I have always considered my pets part of my Family.I have found at NKAH that my pets are treated as part of "their" family as well. The Staff is always polite and refreshing. They are understanding and caring. The Doctors are always pleasant and answer whatever questions that I have. With the economy in the shape it is in , we tend to let our pets needs come last, however at New Kent the prices are affordable. Their "packages" include the things my pet needs to stay healthy. I have always been a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and I feel like I get the best that is available. I think that the Doctors and Staff are great. I was surprised when I received a "sympathy" card in the mail for a pet of mine that passed away at home. I called to notify them that my pet had crossed the rainbow bridge and a few days later I received the card. , It really helped me. I have read all the reviews , good and bad, and in my opinion the people who wrote the ones that were not so good, sound more

OUTSTANDING! 11/20/2008

I love coming into this clinic and seeing such smilling faces up front. The front desk staff is always plesant and helpful. The doctors are great with their bedside manors with my dogs! I tell people how wonderfully I am treated when I go in there. Everyone in New Kent and areas around should be going here!! more

An amazing experience every visit. 10/18/2008

Every time I take my pets to New Kent Animal Hospital, it is an amazing experience. I have highly recommended them to my friends, family, and complete strangers that have asked me where I take my pets when I have had them out in public. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and always happy to see me when I come in with my babies. The doctors have always been very helpful and have gone out of their way help me if I had a problem. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other vets that I went to before I found my perfect vet. more

Great Customer Serivce 10/10/2008

I have brought in my poodle for both grooming and vaccines over the past 6 months and I have been very happy. The staff is VERY friendly up front and the Doctors always take great care of my little girl. Keep up the great work!! Dixie will be in soon!! more

wonderful staff and fantastic doctors 10/10/2008

The staff knows me and my pets by name, and they greet me warmly as soon as I enter. I know that they really care about us. I had to have my dog put down, and the doctors and staff were so compassionate and even sent me a sympathy card. They then welcomed my new puppy and doted on her, which really helped me to heal after grieving. I recommend this business to everyone I talk to who needs a vet. Most of my friends are using them because of the wonderful experience I have had. The doctors really care about animals and take good care of my 2 dogs and 2 cats. more

New Kent Animal Hospital (Old Staff) 5/6/2008

I have been going to New Kent Animal Hospital almost since it first opened down the street by Dr. Linda O'Brien. I always had GREAT experiences until alittle over a year ago when things appeared to go down hill. It had a VERY passionate staff that made you feel very welcome until they ALL began to leave. With the new changes in the past year with ownership and staffing it is still not like it use to be. The service is not bad and the people are nice but I don't think it will ever be the hospital it once was. I hope with their efforts they can get it back to where it once was. The previous management, staff members and Doctors were just truley amazing. The always seemed happy to see you and new who you were when you walked in or when they heard your voice on the phone. I just don't get the same feeling anymore. I just want the old staff members to see they are very much missed and WERE appreciated greatly. Thanks!! more

Fantastic and Caring Staff 3/20/2008

I was recommended to take my cats to NKAH to have their claws removed, and was completely impressed by the knowledgeable and caring staff. They callied me after the surgery and that night to assure me that my cats were fine. They even went as far as sending get well cards in the mail! Eventhough it is a 45 minute drive to their facility, it is worth it knowing that my pets will be treated with the utmost care and compassion. more

Very Friendly to us and our pet! 1/28/2008

I have been to a number of vets in Mechanicsville and they were not nearly as friendly, nice and professional as New Kent Animal Hospital. Just moving from Mechanicsville to New Kent, I was a bit skeptical because of my previous experiences. I was pleasantly surprised. They reminded me of the small town vets I used to take my animals to years ago. I highly recommend them to anyone! more

Love them!!! 11/28/2005

The epitome of a small town vet. The staff is knowledgable and friendly and always remember us when we bring in our animals. My dog is very picky about strangers but behaves very well for the staff. Prices seem average for other area vets and they conveniently sell specialty and prescription pet foods and treats. more
