Excellent vet clinic with caring staff 2/28/2011

My family and I have trusted the medical care (from regular annual visits, to surgery, to end of life care) of our dogs to Commonwealth Animal Hospital for over 30 years, and have nothing but positive things to say about the quality of service, the staff, and the vets, especially Dr. Hunter, who is extremely kind, caring, and compassionate. Just today I took my pit bull mix for a lumpectomcy...they previously performed that surgery twice on my Jack Russell Terrier to remove hard lumps. I have recommended people to take their dogs to CAH, and they have been glad they did and became repeat clients. I'm very surprised to read the negative reviews and believe that open and honest communication can eliminate any confusion, misunderstanding, and problems. And unless there is clear negligence on the part of a vet clinic, I don't see how they can afford to refund unhappy customers...they don't make much money as it is, and need funds to operate and care for their animal patients. The Only Place for a Bull Terrier 7/19/2010

Dr. David Hunter is, in my opinion, the best veterinarian I have met over many years. I do not know the circumstances addressed by the two complainants in this site, but I trust him explicitly to care for my bull terrier, Sawyer. David Hunter is loving to animals, candid, responsive and has never failed to give me good advice and care for my doggie buddy. If there are individual issues, by all means tell the hospital ahead of time - but try and be fair in your assessments. more

Upset and Not Professional 5/13/2009

I went to pick up my friend's two dogs and they had forgotten to give me back the pills necessary for one of the dogs. I called and they left them in the drop box outside the office. Turns out, they did NOT give the dog any pill since the container only contained 1 daily dose. She paid for them to give the medicine to the dog and that did NOT happen. So upsetting.. more

Highly Disappointed 9/24/2008

Be forewarned!!! My fiance and I have been taking our kittens now cats to the animal hospital for two years now. We have had nothing but positive things to say (5 stars) until now. All was well until last month when we allowed them to board our bengal (an indoor cat). We left him there for a week during vacation, and when we returned he had contracted a URI because of negligence. When we first went to pick him up, the staff told us that he had an "allergy" and that the doctor prescribed him an antihistimene. But I was not buying it, so I looked up symptoms for allergies online (which have nothing to do with sneezing) to prove to myself that it wasn't a URI. It was and we had to take him back for treatment for a URI. I asked myself how a doctor who has been schooled to care for animals could mistake a URI for an allergy. There's no way. So I definitely felt like the staff was negligent and was covering up for their mistake. When we asked for a refund for the boarding, they refused sayin more
