i was visiting some friends in Seattle and i stumbled upon this store to buy some snacks and was amazed that they carried my favorite drink TY KU! i immediately bought some for my friends and they loved it just as much as i do :) thank you Uwajumaya for stretching outside the box and carrying my favorite sake! more

Always Fascinating to Shop Here 6/24/2010

This is a Seattle Institution. It's fun to browse around and see all the fruits, vegetables and other food items you never knew existed. The food court and take out deli have all types of delicious options. Pros: Interesting food selection, exotic Cons: Some of the items get pricey more

one-stop shopping for Asian groceries 3/26/2009

This is an indispensable, huge Asian grocery store right in the International District with pretty much everything you could possibly want. As a plus, it's in the same building as a very good bookstore (Kinokuniya) as well as a food court with lots of good little restaurants. My only complaint is that it's a little on the expensive side, almost as expensive as an American grocery store. There are other Asian grocery stores in the Puget Sound area (such as Paldo World and H-Mart) that are much cheaper. Pros: great selection Cons: kind of pricy more

good except Shilla indeed 7/30/2007

All the restaurants are ok.. the thai place is fine too.. but NOT shilla.. my god, the last time I went it was terrible.. the food was too salty... and i mean, way too salty more

Shilla has horrible service 7/6/2007

If you get the kid (young guy) who works Saturdays, expect incredibly bad service. He charged me full price on a meal. Then, after taking my money, he tells me that they do not have the soup that is part of the meal. Didn't even offer to refund. Ridiculous. Other restaurants treat you well. more

The Asian QFC 11/21/2006

I love this place because it's pretty much the only clean asian market in existence. There's great variety of all ethnic foods, so you don't have to stop at the special Chinese store, then the special vietnamese store, then the special thai store, then the special american store, to get all of your ingredients. This place is truly a one stop shop! Yes, it's a little bit pricey, but you're saving a lot of gas money and time. There's also a cute little gift shop and book store area that's fun to browse in. Most staff speak pretty good english so can help you find what you need. Seafood selection and quality is excellent. Pros: great variety, one stop shop, clean, parking in chinatown! Cons: expensive more

Love it! 11/18/2006

Uwajimaya's is a great place to browse and shop. I like the fact that they have so many different food items to choose from. I also like their wide selection of knick nacks, manga and other magazines, and house stuff. The food court is good...I just love it and miss it. Pros: Huge variety, fun place to browse and shop Cons: na more

Good except for Shilla 9/8/2006

I end up eating at the food court often as I live close by. The food is good at most places not amazing but good. The glaring exception is Shilla. I love Korean food and this is the worst example I have found. Yummy House has some great treats. I sometimes get the sushi from the deli case which is ok for grocery store sushi but I would think with the amount of traffic they have and that most of the sushi is gone from the case by 6:00 that they could have a sushi counter open for fresh sushi made to order. If they could do that and get a better Korean resturant in there I would be super happy! There are lot's of great resturants in the neighborhood so get out and explore. Pros: great people watching! Cons: sometimes have to search around to find a clean table, don't eat at Shilla. more

Awesome Asian place 2/10/2006

It has a bookstore, which carried all Asian products of magazines, books, CDs, comics, stationaries and all that!!!!!! I love that store~ And the food court has a bubble tea place which sells YUMMY bubble tea, so if you're looking for trying something new, go to that!! it's so good. Overall, I just love it more

Anime fans playland 2/4/2003

If you're a big anime fan (like myself ^_-) you'll love spending hours here! Uwajimaya is filled with all the best of Asia's food, snacks, raman, candy and even some cool anime toy imports! You can find Shin brand Ramyen (my favorite is Nong Shim...very spicy and a must try for Korean junkfood! ^_^) Pokey, yamyam, qoo (a very yummy drink) and more! Anyone can find a good bargain if you look. I found the cutest (kawaii!) little porcelain noodle bowl with an adorable anime cat and mouse for only $2.00. I added a very cute reusable child chopstick set (with anime cartoon pandas!) for an extra $1.50. Cheap! Also in the same building is a JP bookstore with too much to list. Expect to spend 100.00 easy, not because its expensive but because you will want EVERYTHING. Pros: Top asian brands here, TONS of cute stuff, TONS of imports Cons: obscure brands absent, food court not best, Parking is expensive more

the best around 1/8/2003

with a choice of any type of asian food you can imagine (including filipino, chinese, japanese, vietnamese, hawaiian, etc...) uwajimaya presents the perfect place to pick up food. with its "food court" atmosphere, and healthy asian choices, uwajimaya's is a favorite of mine. whether you are into more tradtional chinese, or would like to try a new type of sushi or a glass of bubble tea, uwajimaya's is the place for you. more

GREAT STORE 1/7/2003

this store has everything, good food, excellent shopping. in the heart of china town more

crabs and seaweed 11/11/2002

uwajimaya's has a great selection of asian foods and products that are affordable in some ways and good selections of asian c.d.'s and magazines that too appeals the mind and interests of others that are interseted. Pros: good food, nice selection, between expenses Cons: crowded parking more

Good, but not the best and EXPENSIVE! 10/10/2002

It's a nice store, with tons of variety and a nice mix of Asian and American foods. Well, actually, tons of mostly Japanese products and few things from Taiwan, China, Thailand, Vietnam. It's big, but also very expensive, although there's very little to compare to in Seattle. However, the Asian supermarkets up in B.C. make Uwajimaya look like a crappy 7-11. For now it's the best we can get for selection and variety. Parking is free if you shop, that's not stated in the "pay lot" description. Pros: Asian & Western mixed, yummy snacks, cool food court Cons: super-inflated prices, mostly Japanese stuff more

The best around! And clean too! 9/26/2002

This is the best asian supermarket I have ever seen! None of the markets in Northern California even come close. The selection is great and it's so clean! We made a special trip to check out this market when we visited Seattle. What a gem! You're definitely going to find things here that you wouldn't find anywhere else. But what's with the parking?? Spend $20 and the parking is free? Yikes. So much for browsing... more

You have to check this place out 8/28/2002

If you're like me and love walking around supermarkets and checking out all the different items in the isles, then you're gonna go mad when you check out Uwajimaya. Tha place is so cool!!!!! Check it out if you haven't already. The have great lunches for cheap. more

no recyling 8/10/2002

I've been shopping at Uwajimaya for years, but last week I was in their food court having lunch and found out that they have absolutely NO recycling program. I went to recycle a can of soda that I was drinking but I couldn't find a recycling bin anywhere. I asked a staff member where I could recycle a can and he told me to "just through it away, we don't recycle here". I was shocked. How could a store like this feel that it is above recycling? Maybe they're too busy to worry about that little thing called the environment. Well, until I find out that they've started a recycling program, I'm not going to shop or eat there again. more

Average! 8/2/2002

Yes they have a wonderful Asia food court, but the taste and quality of food is average, at best. Pros: variety Cons: taste more

Dang,.. is it real? 7/31/2002

I love Chinatown and the most distinguish store is Uwajimaya. The food court has grown into many type of Asian food. Ex: Thai, Philipine, Vietnam, Chinese BBQ. I love it. BEST PLACE TO HAVE LUNCH between work or after church with the family more

Bigger and better 5/20/2002

The ultimate Asian grocery store is also the ultimate lunch spot around Pioneer Square and the ID. Sushi rolls are cheap and tasty, and there's everything from pho to sweet and sour chicken....a great place. more
