Thanks to those that gave honest but bad reviews for this company. Was going to go with USA to secure two properties. Money is tight so I cannot afford to make ANY financial mistakes. I have been extremely disappointed by this USA Fire & Burglary Co. The salesman advised me I had what I specifically asked for and then I found out I didn't have it but could purchase it separately for $$$. Would not listen to a word they say and do not feel safe at all. If you are looking for security, look elsewhere. Had 2nd salesman come out & he took my original agreement as he was going to ""Look into the discrepancy"" - well, that didn't work. Received phone call and more double talk. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. I am spreading the word at every luncheon, meeting, etc. more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED 3/10/2011

I received service at the end of February of 2011. Very disappointed that I had to pay a reprogramming fee and the company couldn't supply me with batteries to completely charge the alarm system. My boyfriend was told by the technician to purchase one elsewhere because purchasing from them would be more of an expense. I felt that if I paid $446.50 to get reprogramming/ sensors/installation, etc., batteries should be included. After installation, I was told that batteries are not included in reprogramming an alarm system. BEWARE!!!! They nickel and dime you!!!When my year is over, I will seek another company. more

Recently switched over to them as they were significantly lower in cost than my previous alarm company. Service - very poor and they tried to overcharge me. Stay away from them. more

SAVE TIME, HEADACHES & DO NOT CALL USA FIRE & BURGLARY 1/1/2011

This company should not be in business. They are not reliable nor able to complete tasks correctly. For those of you who think you have a system where the alarm is being monitored by USA......accidentally set it off occassionally.....how long does it take them to call.....5 minutes...NO...30 minutes...sorry that you are dead....2 Hours and I got a call! I used one other alarm company since owning my home of ten years. Two years ago because of the 29 dollar a month fee, I went with USA...$7.50 false advertisement! I have purchased over 500 in equipment from this company and that was in the first month...please spread the word...this company is not providing you with what you hope, trust or think they are providing... more

I've sat here reading all the comments posted and can not believe people are willing to protect their life and home with a company who are clearly not the best with customer service. And why should they be? After some digging around I found the family comes from a used carlot background (that's their selling practice) they were at my house and refused to leave when they met with my wife. I rush home and nearly had to kick this guy out my house. As for CHEAP i got quotes from 10 other companies. All the national companies were around 22 to 30 and all the local companies 15 to 19 per month. 7.50 please! That should be your first flag. " Its 7.50 but you have to by a maintaince contract and you have to pay a year in advance" any company that requires a year up front usually doesn't give a damn about customer service until another contract is needed to be signed. The sales rep that came to my house was very professional and made me feel comfortable. The guy that installed the alarm and cameras was very knowledgable and explained everything in detail on how to use the systems. I would recommend U.S.A. to any of my friends or family. Honestly they dont deseve a rating but since you have to put one i will but if i didnt have to put one i wouldnt!!! I called them early in the morning yesterday and did a online quote request. I finally got a call back from them today! I asked whats the price of the system and installation and he gave me a freaking lecture on them compared to a national company then I said well can you give me a round about quote for the system and installation and he said no I don?t know the installation price how do you work for a company and you can't give me a QUOTE?? The freaking website says FREE QUOTE and the Sales guy doesnt know what installition costs?? Then to make it worse he tells me they dont have any installion packages well the freaking website says they do so either someone doesnt know what they are doing or they need to upday their website!! I rather pay 30 a month with ADT at least they know what they are talking about. more

when me and my wife looked for a alarm company we wanted to stay with a local company.so we called usa the people on the phone where very polite and helpful,they said the sales man would come out and give us a quote by the end of his demostration we where pleased.ever since then we have had nothing but great service from them. I was really hesitant about going with USA, especially after reading all the bad reviews. But I decided to give them a chance after going to the BBB and seeing the A rating and am so glad that I did. I have had my alarm installed for a few months now and have not had one bad experience. The guy that installed my alarm was very helpful and made sure I knew how to use the alarm before he left. I had some questions about the alarm and the service guy was very quick and very helpful. My insurance agent needed proof that I had an alarm system so I called the office and they faxed proof that I had an alarm the same day. I am very glad I made the choice and I hope everyone does the same. Pros: great Cons: I can't say anything bad more

I have been with usa over 3 years and can't say enough good things about them. I am so glad I switched over to them and will tell anyone to use this company. Everytime I call they are extemely helpful. Everytime my alarm goes off they call me so fast - sometimes so fast I can't even get to the phone. Give this company a try and you will never regret it. I have had home security monitoring with this company for a few years now, and let me just say, the customer service just isn't there...... at all. You are supposed to test your alarm monthly, and I do. When setting off my alarm a few times during the monthly system test, I had almost exact situations repeatedly occur, I wouldn't receive any phone call from their "monitoring center", so I would call the office and tell them that I did my monthly test, and I didn't get a phone call from the monitoring center.......It was as if they went blank when I would say it. And it would always turned into a "Can I get your name and number and have someone call you back about that?" from the secretary. No one called me back. Ever. After quite a few more phone calls to their office, the "repairman" over there told me it had to have been a bad battery for it to not have sent a signal or anything..... I thought to myself, doesn't something flash on the screen when the battery is dying? So I said, "Ok, how can I replace the battery?" and the guy tells me, get this...., "Oh, it costs $60 for a service tech to come out and do that for you, and that's just assuming that's the actual problem. If it's a different problem, you will incur other charges." I told him that I wanted to do it myself, and he told me that I couldn't. I just thought that was the dumbest thing I ever heard. How hard can it be to replace a battery?? It seemed like a scheem to make money. I started wondering if they monitor at all!! What proof can they provide me with that tells me they actually have a monitoring center?? Probably none. And guess what! I had a friend of mine take a look at it for me, and the faceplate of the keypad popped right off with a flathead screwdriver and there was the battery.... and U.S.A was trying to force me to pay them $60 to do that. I am still under contract that I had prepaid at the beginning of the year (because w/ this company, you pay your full anual premium at the beginning of the year), so I can't do much now except wait for my time to expire w/ them and go to a REAL alarm company. I think you probably get what you pay for in this case. And let me just say, I don' live in the best of neighborhoods, and this is the main reason why I have this alarm system, and it actually makes me feel just as vulnerable as I would if I didn' have an alarm at all. I personally think this company is a waste of time completely! Take the money that you would have spent here and add a little more money to that, and then you can get a bigger, more capable home monitoring company that is able to handle their workloads and their customers. I had USA come and install my burglar alarm system at my house last week. The sales representative was extremely helpful and the installer was very knowledgeable on the alarm system and helped to show me how to use it. You can't beat the price and you can't beat the service. I will absolutely recommend them to everyone. Great local company! more

I have no complaints with USA Fire & Burglar Alarm. When I called and scheduled a site visit, they arrived on time. They followed up with the service call. We made a deal. They came out and setup my system in one day. The technician was very knowledgeable. They did not try to upsell me. I had a great experience. They setup my office and I'm calling them today to setup my home. Pros: Great value more

Cheap price, cheap service 1/18/2010

Have had system for 3 years, problems since beginning. Service poor, different person every time and no one knows what they are doing, kept creating new problems. Customer service is poor. Spoke to owner who had the worse attitude ever encountered. Techs are not competent in system. Tied my hands in reqeusting I pay a full year of maintenance in order for them to send someone to fix the NEW problem that was created by the last Tech a few days before my contract expired for the year. Was told by the OWNER, company policy is company policy, can't fix until you pay. When asked what if it still not fixed properly, said they would just send someone else out again. AND, they do not work in the evenings or weekends so be prepared to lose a lot of time from your job. I am now left with a malfunctioning system. Would not recommend this company to anyone. Cheap price, poor service. I guess you get what you pay for. Please, don't let the low price reel you in. Not worth the little money you save. Cons: Service is the pits more

watch out for the upgrades by installer 7/29/2009

They may even lie about stuff or wires not working to leave you thinking you have no choice but to have them re-do it for a price. They tried to get us to replace 8 contacts at $25 each, that they said didn't work. They ended up only leaving 3 contacts unhooked that were supposedly bad. (remember it was supposed to be 8 bad contacts) After they left, I hooked up the 3 and turned on the alarm, what a surprise,, they worked just fine. When I called U.S.A. I really expected horrible service due to the low advertised price. I was very surprised to receive A-1 service from the tme I spoke with the receptionist of the company to the technician showing me how to use my security system. Today I called USA Fire & Burglar Alarms, LLC to check the status of the work order I entered into on Friday (3 days ago). I was told to do so by the salesman and was also told that I could have someone reprogram the alarm this week. The receptionist took my name & number but never called me back. I called back and the receptionist yelled over to the owner, Mr. Brian Mahl, who yelled back information to her. When I said that I couldn't make that appointment the receptionist put me on hold and after a while Mr. Mahl came to the phone. I have NEVER been spoken to in this way before. Mr. Mahl seems to dislike women and told me, without any other conversation, that he didn't want to deal with someone like me. I was stunned. I apologized for any misunderstanding (even though I don't know what that could have been). Mr. Mahl screamed and abused me until I almost started crying. This is saying a lot for a person who deals with business people every day. WOMEN, please let your husbands or some male deal with this man as I am sure he would certainly act differently and control his hatred/anger issues that he seems to have.
