I sent my sister, who lives in Elizabethtown, a very nice Christmas gift. Instead of the gift being held at the post office, it was left by the mail carrier by her front door, which then got stolen by her neighbors. What kind of post office lets packages be left for anyone to take? Plus, I've heard that if a mail carrier doesn't have permission to leave a package unattended, and it gets stolen, that he/she has to replace it or provide compensation, but what are the odds that the post office will actually enforce that particular policy (provided that such a thing is true)? Who decided that leaving packages unattended was a good policy? I'm extremely disappointed, and not just in the thieving neighbors.
