Universal Instruments was a leading business of the Binghamton area until the economy started to go downhill and like IBM and Singer-Link Nasa they have pulled most of their workforce out of the area or laid them off with no chance of regaining employment since they have been outsourceing jobs to China manufacturers for less payments.
Once known as a leader in global electronics and technology specialists company this company found that they could hire peoples from foreign countries to do the same job as their american employees but with less pay which would give the company more money to invest in other projects.
Many people who worked for this company lost their job as a consequence to Universals decisions to downsize the american employees section of the business.
They decided they could get parts and labor very cheap from the Chinese so they have been sending their American Supervisors ( or whats left of them) over to China to train the Chinese how to do Americans jobs.
Universal Like other big business has sold its loyal American employees down the river.
Not a great company to work for since they have frequent layoffs after they give huge bonus's to their employees before they can them.
