All of you that are writing these bad reviews for this company, you hit the nail on the head. I worked for this company (in a non insurance position) for almost 10 years and I had conversations with employees and managers, even held one once with the current president of the company and heard how easy it is to keep from paying out a claim to someone for long periods of time so that their money would make enough interest before letting it go. They used to have bets on who could take the highest paid valid claim and turn it into a non paying claim. You would do good to stay away from this company. I think all insurance companies are dirty, but this one is beyond the normal company. more

Customer Service! The Claims Agents should be FIRED! 2/23/2011

This company has put me through emotional hell. My mother passed away 2/21/10 the small policies had my stepfather as beneficieary although, his name had been added in 2008 he passed away in 2009. These people were rude, had me jump through several hoops in the past year and I have still not recieved the money and they even told my brother they were giving me a hard time because they didn't like the way I talked to them despite the fact they were very rude. My brother and sister have recieved thier portion of the claim and I am still waiting. (My brother and sister who has a serious drug addictions were paid and brother ended up in the hospital with a heart attack after spending his money on a drug binge).I am still waiting to recieve pennies on the money paid out by me for my mother's funeral which I was told by an agent would be reimbursed by the insurance company. This is such a horriffic experience i would like to see them without work! This is the thanks for my mother buying insurance and me helping her to keep the premiums paid for the past 25 yrs. more

Worst Insurance Compay 10/21/2009

I cannot believe what this insurance company is putting me through for a small claim. My mother took out a life insurance policy on my sister when she was 8 years old. My sister, mother and father have passed away, therefore I filed a claim. The policy was over 50 years old so I had to send the original policy, copies of death certificates and my personal information. They had not responded and I called and was told a letter had been sent to me 09/16/09, no letter. I called again and was told another letter was sent 10/12/09, finally I asked where are they sending the letters and I was told to my father's address who has been deceased for 10 years and they have a copy of his death certificate. They are doing everything to avoid paying on the policy, even the stupidest things. I may have to take legal action to make them pay. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

I found out recently that I was the beneficiary on a death claim. My aunt died in February 2008 and even though it was assumed that she had changed the beneficiaries on her policy, she had not. Once the discovery was made, I filed a claim with the proper office and received a check. I also received a phone call from a supervisor at Unitrin office, who claims that someone else using my name had also filed a claim and had received a check. I disputed the other person's claim and insisted that I was the real person listed as primary benefiary. It was later discovered, by myself, that the contingent beneficiary on the policy's wife has stolen my identify to get the money. I have been in constant contact with Career Agency Insurance Services trying to prove that I am the person listed, but it has been one big run-around since. They are now telling me that I have to wait to hear from their legal department. Seems to me, if I have multiple documents which prove my identity, what is the hold up? I even got a tape recorded message from the other person, saying that if her husband (my cousin) does not receive the money, no one will. She even admits that she is committing a crime. Not the best insurance 10/2/2007

The service with this insurance company is unreal. To start everytime i call it's like a 25 to 30 min hold. I have a cancer policy claim in process since April and been in the dark since then. When I call it's like no one knows what is going on and tells me they have no update in their system about anything. The last time I heard from this is to get my medical records in June. I'm still keeping up on my life and cancer policy but looks like i'm just paying the cancer policy just to be paying it on a monthly basis. The call center also has some nice people and also some are rude. Pros: The agents in my area more

avoid this insurance company don't paid out claims 6/8/2007

this is the worst company i have ever deal with they allows people to make false insurance claims even if they are not the beneifary it takes them to long to paid out a claims even after they have received all the information that reqested also when you call they leave you on hold for over 30 min before someone answer the call and then they don't know any the questions you ask and they won't never let you speak to someone in charge Cons: not dependable more
