Horrible Customer Service 12/12/2009

I made the reservation online. The website asked me where I want to pick up and drop off. I input different zip codes for it (but within the same city) and was offered 19.95 (plus 0.79 per mile). Then when I was done with the truck and tried to return the truck to my planned drop off location (Slaughter Lane), I was told by UHaul Manager J. Martinez at Slaughter Lane location that I can't unless I pay over $100. When I exclaimed my disbelief and told her UHaul website told me it's only 19.95, she gave me bad attitude. She rolled her eyes, she was dismissive, showed an expression of impatience and contempt, and she was just absolutely rude. She said the 19.95 was only offered for same location rental.\r \r If she was correct, that means UHAUL website is misleading customers when they asked us to enter a return location and never mentioned anything about the requirement to return to the same location during the reservation process. Or if the website is correct, that means Ms Martinez was not only RUDE but also misleading customers. Either way, UHAUL's service was extremely poor. \r \r J. Martinez, with her kind of horrible attitude towards customers, should not be in service industry. She should be fired. Pros: Nothing Cons: Misleading Website, Nickle and Dime Customers, BAD attitude more

Don't install your hitch here! 4/20/2009

I just got my hitch installed on my car, and had them prewired it. After I drove off, I realized my blinkers stopped working. So I took it right back to them to see what happened. Of course, no one knew. The person whom installed the hitch left for the day. I didn't want to drive without my blinkers, so I left my car to them and was told it would be fixed the next day. Well the hitch installation guy didn't end up going to work that day. The duty manager, Jackie, was extremely rude and said there's nothing they can do until the guy comes to work; and also said all they did was plug in a wire and shouldn't have caused the blinker not working. How is that possible? It worked fine for the last 3 years when I had the car,and it decided not to work after some guy installed some wires? Hmmmm... Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

NO VEHICLE PROVIDED DESPITE RESERVATION, HORRIBLE SERVICE 7/22/2007

I reserved a cargo van for a move and on the day of move I was given an appointment time and location. But when arriving at the location I learned that they had nothing to give me, no alternatives, and they could not refund the service fee.\r \r They said that 200 Austin residents had reserved vehicles that day which would be denied. The manager only gave me a customer service number to call. I called the number only to wait for an hour and had to call back and wait another 3 days for a return call and a refund. \r \r Save yourself some pain! Moving day is stressful enough, and U-Haul will almost surely get something wrong. more

Double check each U-Haul you rent to ensure no PREVIOUS damage 10/9/2006

If you chose not to purchase the insurance when renting a U-Haul be sure to inspect every part of the vehicle. Ask for a ladder to check the top of the U-Haul. I rented a U-Haul and was not instructed to inspect the roof and when I was moving I notice from my second story floor that there was a HUGE scratch that tore out some metal that was previously done. WHen I returned the vehicle they said that I did it and it was freshly ripped. I was suppose to notice that before I drove off.....I am 5'6 not 8'......it was not noticable unless you were looking down from a high level or had a ladder. BEWARE of this........... Cons: Rude, No Experience, Provide Incorrect Information more
