Editorial review from Citysearch 1/7/2013

The double booking is outrageous. Patients should not have to spend hours waiting. I had surgery for a foot deformity and after 4 months of recovery - which I was told would take 10 weeks. My foot is no better off than it was when I started. I would not recommend Raleigh Ortho. more

My sister died in his care a week after bunion surgery 6/12/2012

My sister had bunion surgery by Dr. Boone on a Tuesday. Most doctors see their patients back in 5 to 7 days. But Dr. Boone did not want to see her back for two weeks! She did well for the first day or two but then on the Friday after surgery my sister developed a lot of pain and called Dr. Boone. Most doctors would want to see their patients immediately and find out what the problem was. But she was just told to take more pain medication. The following Tuesday she died of a pulmonary embolus (blood clot to her lungs). Is this the kind of doctor you would want to have operate on you? more

Great MD - Love Dr. Boone 1/19/2011

I have been a pt of Dr. Boone's since March of 2010, when he told me that I had a limb threating condition. He also told me that there was a chance to fix it, but it would be a long and difficult process.\r \r He wasn't kidding!!\r \r But in all fairness, Dr. Boone told me what was going to happen and it did. He gave me his time and knowledge so that I was able to make an informed desicion about my own medical care. \r \r Dr. Boone is a kind and highly intelligent man which in turn makes him a great doctor. However, if you are looking for a doctor who is going to pansy-foot around and tell you things are going to be fine even when he knows that is not true, then Dr. Boone is not the MD for you. He is honest while being kind and understanding of his patients' fears while having to give the worst case senerio. \r \r I appreciate all of the honesty and the incredible amount of work and expertise that he shared with me. If it had not been for Dr. Boone, I would have lost my leg. Instead, I am now 8 months post op and able to walk with the assistance of a brace. THANK YOU DR. BOONE!!!! more

North Raleigh (Durant Road) Location 9/21/2010

My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 and I arrived there 15 minutes early, like I was asked to and I didn't get called to the back until 5:00pm. Honestly, I was ready to ask for a refund of my co-pay so I could go elsewhere. When I asked what the hold-up was, after waiting in the waiting area for an hour, I was told the doctor had 2 emergency surgies and was very backed-up. What I would like to know is why I wasn't told that at check-in. Then, the doctor acted clueless about my situation when I had given a disk with x-rays on it to the staff at check-in. I was so floored, like nobody had taken the time to even look at the x-rays or my chart for that matter! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! more

Not happy with Raleigh Ortho, too busy for their own good, or their patients' good. 12/28/2008

I have been to Raleigh Orthopedic Clinic many times over the last year since I broke my ankle & had a metal plate put it, ruptured 2 discs & had really bad tendonitis in my wrist. For the most part I'd been satisfied even though I would sometimes be left waiting in my exam room for a VERY long time after my set appt time, at least 30-40 mins at times, if not more. The results, however, from my ankle doctor (Dr. Boone) and the hand doctor (Andrews) were so excellent I have not gone anywhere else. However, with my most recent cervical disc herniation the care has been very substandard, in my opinion. When this first happened I was in an incredible amount of pain but the PA, Wendy Christy, would not give me ANY pain meds. I have barely had 3 refills over the last yr, records would show that there was no way at all I could have been abusing them. I felt abandoned and helpless, in so much pain and being made to feel like I was a druggie. The PA also acted accusatory, I'm in tons of pain & I have no idea how my spine has deteriorated like it has, I am very healthy otherwise and very 'in shape', she acted as though it was my fault. Questions like, ""Well, are you at a computer all day?"" well Yeah, I have to make a living. Have you been going to PT? asking as if I hadn't. I said, yes as much as my full-time job will allow, but I work out every day. I was so irate words cannot describe. Then when I got an MRI showing a herniated disc then suddenly pain pills were ok, 2 weeks later! Ok, so they're going to call them in, 10 days later they R still not called in even though I called them back promptly when they requested my pharmacy's number. Seems I can't get them to do anything! The pain mgmt clinic was to call me over 2 wks ago and still NOTHING. It is the holidays but that should not matter, people still need care. They should do what they say they're going to do. Dr. Mikles is probably great if you can ever get in 2 see him but I'm going elsewhere after this experience. Pros: I'm sure the doctors are some in the best of town Cons: long waits for everything. more

The Clinic was established decades ago by the best orthopaedic surgeons in the area. With their background, the clinic has has their choice of the best and brightest surgeons when they finish their education in this area of outstanding medical schools like the University of North Carolina, Duke University, and Wake Forest University.....some of the finest medical schools in the country. \r In addition to their private practice, with specialist in every area of orthopaedic medicine, the clinic provides services to many of the college athletic programs, as well as professional teams such as the Carolina Hurricaines.\r Having been a college basketball player with a long relationship with doctors at the clinic, I feel confident that Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic is as excellent practice in sports, joint, and neurological problems that you will find anywhere. more

Great docs, Been for several visits, seen several docs for several problems and always satisfied 7/24/2007

I have had to go to OTHER ortho docs in the city and glad I finally told to get to Raleigh Orthopaedics. I have now seen a couple of their docs. Happy with each of them. I had to be worked in on both occassions because I called at the last minute, but it was worth the wait. Staff friendly at front desk and in back office. Docs talked to you, not at you. Thank you Guys!!! Pros: Thumbs UP!! Staff Awesome, Docs paid attention to my questions ! Cons: Only because you are making me pick one......parking was a little tough one visit to find more
