Troy Humphrey Moving & Storage

My husband was honorably discharged from the military and we decided to move back home. While we were building our new house, the Marine Corps contracted Troy Humphrey Moving & Storage to remove our belongings from base housing and store them in Jacksonville, NC for about 9 months.\r \r The ladies who packed our breakables did an excellent job. And they're the only ones who did. The men who moved our furniture scratched and broke much of it while taking it out of the house. They snapped the base of our dining room table in half, separating the two trestle legs. \r \r Furthermore, we were assured that our things would be in climate controlled storage. This was not the case. High humidity rusted almost all of my stainless steel kitchen wear. I am in the Marine Corps and was mmoving from San Diego to NC. The company that shipped my stuff wanted to deliver it like a week early. My house wasnt ready so they put in it storage with Troy Humphrey storage. Well when I was finally about to close on my house TMO (USMC Traffic Management Office) told me my stuff wouldnt be ready to be delivered for two weeks. WTF??!! So I was supposed to just sit in my new house without anything and my wife and kids are here with me......So anyway after talking to TMO about my issue they told me I was on a list in case anybody cancelled I then i MIGHT get my stuff delivered........wrong answer!!! I started calling Troy Humphreys personally and told them my situation. I called MULTIPLE times and normally I probly would have gotten tired of me but my contact a Mr. Donald Humphrey never missed a beat with his professionalism. We moving our things into storage on 15 Feb 2011. The move was a two day process. Day one the packing crew made it a point to pack each item with care. Day two the actual move, the moving crew leader pointed out every problem with the furniture before it was moved out of the house and he documented it. I really appreciated him for doing that. The over all move was excellent. The owner David was able to show me the security measure they have in place for the items we stored. They are a world class moving and storage company. more

Had a local move in October 2010. The team sent over was professional and certainly well experienced in the trade. The effectively moved my entire home and set up all my furniture inside of 6 hours. At $600 certainly worth every penny and then some. They took great care with each piece ensuring it was wrapped and protected beyond what was probably needed for the short 12 mile journey between homes. The estimate from their surveyor was spot on. He quoted "between $550 and $650" Staff at the office is very cordial and is well organized. more

They Busted up my Brand new expensive baby crib, than tired to throw some paint on it and give it back inless than 4 hours and admitted they had to make a decision on cost and it was cheaper to throw some paint on it and give it back than rent a crib and fix it the right way. They also Broke expensive irreplaceable china, they packed my china in with screwdrivers and other hardware items and wrapped it in with 1 piece of wrapping paper around each and than over lapped them. They voided my mattress warranty, and destroyed my mattress by just throwing it in the truck with nothing covering it and soiled it with dirt and other stains from inside the truck. throw parts of my kids trampoline from outside which had dirty on it up againsts my box spring to my mattress. Gouged my leather couch. mind you all this stuff is about 3 months to 1 year which on my all my inventory was spotless showing there was nothing wrong or no marks on anything I had. Didn't put stoppers in the back of my front loading washer. scratched my crystal vase, damage my rental property walls and door frames when moving my property out. Dragged my BBQ through my kitchen, dinning room and over my carpet in the living room throw the front door instead of walking it around the side of ther house. along with many other things damages. would not recommend them at all if you want your stuff in the same condition you had it in before they handled it. They will insult you and tell you, that things getting damaged is just a part of normal wear and tear and you should expect it. more

First of all, I found their DOT number without a problem. Secondly, I had a terrific move by Troy Humphrey Moving & Storage. Mr. Humphrey was extremely personable and his moving staff were excellent! I have very expensive furniture and required a very difficult move (stairs, baby grand piano, etc.). I would, without hesitatatiion, recommend this moving company to anyone and everyone! Mr. Humphrey assured us that his team of employees were well-experienced and trustworthy with loading large trucks. Unfortunately, we found that was not necessarily the case. A metal shelf was placed on a dresser, and by the end of the move had gouged a huge hole in the dresser top. There were several other issues with tears in upholstery and a mashed lamp base, etc., all from improper loading positions. The other problem we had was two of the loaders were caught taking rolls of coins from a large sealed coin collection jar. They made up an excuse of the lid falling off, which is impossible since it was a tightly capped screw lid. After that encounter, it was difficult to trust them and we had to stop what the organizing/packing that we were doing and watch each person carefully. This caused real problems for us. We have tried repeatedly to get a response from Mr. Humphrey. He was understanding and interested in the problems at the beginning, but since we have faxed the pictur more

Be warned. I had a box come off the truck, in the big box they seal up when the boxes arrive at their storage location, that was opened already! So either they accepted the open box, which was marked as a high dollar item box, and packed and stored it that way. (which is not their policy) Or someone cut the box open and took the high dollar item out and didn't even try to hide it. They accept no responsiblity and blame the company that shipped it to them. Pros: Nice guys that come to the house to unload the truck. Cons: Nobody else cares what happens to your valuables. more
