This was awesome! They serve some things I haven't had in forever, and the fact that I can get it delivered makes it my new favorite! :)

Worst

charged for the chorizo sandwich but never received it. Normally the food is outstanding though

I wanted to order there, but then I found out they charge $4.99 for delivery IN ADDITION to a 15% "Delivery service fee" - what a rip-off! more

Tropical Star is different and delicious 8/28/2009

This is a great place to come if you want something different and delicious. I really like the #5 and #8 plates. Be prepared to wait as they can sometimes get busy and they cook your meals to order. Also, remember to take a potty break BEFORE you get there since they don't have public restrooms. For real convenience, I suggest ordering by phone for pick up and eating it at home. more

For a taste of the Caribbean I always come here. The Cuban sandwiches are to die for and you can never go wrong with the Arroz con Gandules a Puerto Rican favorite. more

My wife took me to this place. She is Puerto Rican and introduced me to some dishes. I also tried a sandwich called the Cuban it was very tasty. Check them out you will not be disappointed. more

Good variety with okay food 12/27/2008

Tropical star sells a variety of Latin foods at decent prices. They also have some hard to find food products. The food's okay but I find most items to be bit too greasy. more

Food was delivered on time; however, was disappointed that no extra utensils were included although I had requested it; the main dish was a bit salty and acidic for some reason but overall the food was pretty good. I do like using GrubHub when I travel to SD; can't wait to try them out in other cities. more
