I went to Trois when I visited Atlanta couple times for biz from nyc. Menu offers wide variety of dishes (great design btw) it is french but keep it very simple. Since we were many of us, we were able to try almost every appetizer but everything was just great. Entree was just right portioned and just wonderful. This is also great for a business dining as well. ( across from four seasons) Very nice service and knowledgeable staff. Pros: everything Cons: nada more

Avoid dining room at all costs 3/1/2008

While the bar and dining room decor may be pleasant, the food and service, the main things a restaurant earns its reputation on, leave much to be desired. The food was horrible, notably the Cobb salad which was poorly presented with mostly iceberg lettuce a few crumbles of blue cheese, some egg, and the what tasted more like burnt wood chips than bacon. Worst of all, the chicken topping the salad was raw and skin slimy ! It was pink and bloody. We sent it back. Never did they offer to replace the salad the undercooked chicken juice had dripped on. Major safety and sanitation issue here! The waiter had a notable attitude (not a good one) when the chicken was sent back. They brought the chicken back looking just as it did when they took it away, Totally unexcusable. Also, the bread plates were wisked away without explanation from the place settings, as you have to pay for bread at lunch (we found that out after asking for some bread to have along with our soup and salad) . The onion soup had hot melted cheese covering an overly salty luke warm broth. The bottle of white wine we ordered was not available, and when we decided on another, it was not properly chilled, and just set on the table. We asked for a chilling bucket which we got 15 minutes later (it was not crowded). Also, we had to make a special request for salt and pepper. No pepper offered for the salads or soups! This is one of those places that prides itself more on attitude and interior design (try to figure out how to flush the toilet in the restrooms!!) than on well prepared food and excellent service. Also when we left and asked for our valet stamp. They said ""Are you planning on leaving now?"" because these stamps are time sensitive. Just the kind of place I hate to see take away business from restaurants where quality of food and taking care of the customer are the number one priorities. more

Love the Bar, Don't come hungry! 2/25/2008

I can do the bar at Trois anytime, anyday. The scene is chic, the crowd is mature. The menu items that I've had have all be well made, but portions are quite small so you have two options. Do not come to Trois extremely hungry or plan to spend major bucks to finance the additional sides or appetizers that you'll need to curb your appetite. Knowing this, I'd go to Trois time and time again and usually will just lounge in the bar table area. The drinks are the business...cute concotions, well made. Hot bar, cold dining room 2/12/2008

Plus, the server?s tight white pants and pouchy tummies left a lot to be desired (I recommend black pants!). My tilapia was delightful, but my husband?s snapper reminded me of whale blubber. more

Chic Bar 2/6/2008

The Bar at TROIS is my new favorite place to start a Girls Night Out. My ladies and I went there last Saturday night and fell in love with the atmosphere - classy and sophisticated but not snooty. The drinks, although a little more expensive than you might find at other bars, are delish and completely worth the money. I tried the Apoirtif and loved its pear taste that wasn't too sweet. My friends had the Jack Rose, Nick & Nora Martini and the Silver Gin Fizz. With fun names like these, what's not to like? more

Food & Service Very Disappointing 1/18/2008

Great atmosphere but the service during lunch was extraordinarily slow (not good for people who only have an hour lunch break!). The staff was very odd & obviously not trained well for what you would think was a high class restaurant by the appearance & hype. The staff was clumsy, lacked knowledge & didn't know when & when not to service the table. Wine pours were short & disappointing. Appetizers (french onion & califlower soups) were barely lukewarm & unimpressive. Entrees (2 fish dishes & beef stroganoff) were expensive & also all came out lukewarm. Sending out hot food is a basic in a restaurant & shouldn't be a problem when you are paying that amount. Had to send them back meaning taking a longer lunch break. Food was decent but should be excellent for the amount you spend. Nothing made me want to go back again. 1 week later, a co-worker had a business lunch there w/ 3 others & one of the cooks. They came back w/ nothing but commical things to say about their experience. It was disastrous & the cook left horribly embarrased & the guest were uncomfortably embarrassed for him. Trois needs to start taking all these negative reviews seriously. There are too many excellent restaurants in Atlanta at the same price point that are much more worth your time & money. more

Nice atmosphere with cheap food and poorly trained staff - don't do it! 1/15/2008

What a horrible experience. I visited Trois with 5 co-workers for a nice dinner for our first night in ATL from NYC. The menu looked great, we couldn't decide what to order there were so many great choices. It was all downhill from there. The waiter brought a complimentary glass of the cheapest pink champagne I have ever tasted in my life. He asked if we wanted more bread but never brought it. He only brought 1 of 2 side dishes to accompany an entree. He brought beans instead of spinach. The spread for the bread looked like orange baby food mush. The salad had a dressing that failed to please. And it took a very loooooooooooooooong time for the check. As a matter of fact it took a very loooooooooooong time for everything. I've been to France where the food is great, cheesy places like this is the reason French food gets a bad name. Pros: Atmosphere, Decorations Cons: Everything else more

Overpriced, Snooty service, not great food 12/19/2007

I love one midtown kitchen and two urban licks but Trios, also owned by concentrics, falls short. The service is snooty and the food is not worth the extremely high prices they charge. We made reservations and were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. The atmosphere is so trendy that I think they forgot to focus on the reason they are in business, the food. Great Food, Drinks, and Oustanding Interior! 12/17/2007

I attended Trois recently on a Sat. night as part of a private christmas party. As I entered the restaurant I was promptly greeted by the hostess who asked if I was there for the private party. But unfortuantley I have to metion there was a gentlemen there who interjected and asked for the specific name of the party. This I didnt mind but it seemed a bit abrassive and partialy took away from the warm greeting I recieved. Once I answered I walk in I was impressed by the bar seating area which was well illuminated and had a chic decor. The drinks were of course top shelf and the drink menus was even more enjoyably distinctive. The appetizer were delicious and the waitress more then overcompensated for mishap at the door. She was friendly and knowledgible as well new what to recommend to drink from there unique menu to suit my preferences. I would give it five stars but I only had the opportunity to visit one of three levels in this wonderful establishment so until next time I can only give it 4. Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

Worst meal I've had in a restaurant...EVER! 11/8/2007

I'll start by saying this was the worst meal I have ever had in Atlanta. I ordered a salad and the flank steak. When the salad came, it was drenched in oil. The sundried tomatoes were so oily that they had become soggy. The person I was eating with had the soup, which needed a lot of salt and pepper. The service was lazy, and he had to walk up to find our waitress after a few minutes to ask for salt and pepper. Once I picked at the edible parts, the flank steak arrived, and had a salad that came with it!! in my opinion, the waitress should never have let me ordered a salad for an appetizer, knowing that my dish came with a salad already! The steak was small, undercooked, and underseasoned. Parts of it were practically raw. On the side was a piece of what looked like fried potato, but I can only describe it as bland and offsetting. more

Nice cocktails and staff 11/6/2007

I've stayed across the street at the Four Seasons a number of times and Trois is located right across the street. The appetizers are tasty and they offer a nice variety. The cocktails were good and the bar was fairly occupied as I've been inside on just Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Good place for conversations with friends. more

best dining experience ever!!!!!! 11/5/2007

After reading all the negative reviews on citysearch I was not quite sure what to expect at Trois, however, My wife and I decided to give it a shot on a busy saturday night. I did not understand how a restaurant could recieve best new restaurant awards in both atlanta magazine and esquire magazine without just cause. We did not know what to expect when walking in the door but we were very pleasantly surprised. Our reservation was set for 730p..we arrived @ 7p and were asked by the hostess at the front door if we'd like to be seated or have a drink in the bar...we chose the bar and were personally escorted down the beautiful marble staircase through a curtain to a posh bar setting..we chose to begin the the night with of course the trois specialty martini which was excellent (even though I don't drink gin)..20 minutes later we were asked by the hostess if we'd like to be seated..paid our bar tab and again were personally escorted upstairs and to our dining table..our meal began with a complimentary champagne toast and chilled gazpacho from the chef..nice touch so far..as I love wine and am a bit of a wine snob their list was outstanding..we chose a excellent pinot noir from oregon from the reserve list...though not to break the bank @ $110.00..our server was delightful...explained numerous menu items including her favorites and stated she would return to answer any questions we may have in a few moments..which she did..my wife began with the burgundy snails and goat chz ravioli (JUST PERFECT)..I chose the foie gras ( best I've EVER had from new york to la)..For dinner, we shared the chateaubriand with bernaise sauce and we did not even need a knife to cut the meat it was so tender..our server checked up on us for each course that somehow was better than the last..ending with dessert port and cognac..this is by far the best dining experience we have ever had..we will definitely be back and often DON'T BELIEVE ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS THIS PLACE IS OUTSTANDING Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, AMBIANCE Cons: restrooms on third floor, alot of stairs more

Food overshadowed by everything else 10/23/2007

Went last week and was thoroughly disappointed. The first ""shocker"" is that as soon as you walk in there is a small area with a hostess stand and 2 doors to restrooms complete with a short line to get in. These restrooms apparently serve the bar immediately to the left but to say it is an awkward arrangement is an understatement. After ascending the 300 (slight exaggeration) stairs it takes to get up to the dining room we were seated at a table that was so small our party of 4 was bumping knees. Once we added wine bottles, glasses, bread, etc., we all joked that there was no room for the dinner plates. Beyond the small table was the fact that ours was one of seemingly hundreds of similar small tables. The man seated at a table behind me had to ask me to move just so he could get out to go to the bathroom. Wait staff also bumped into me all night as they had no way to get to their tables. The service was pretentious and unpleasent. When my friend asked what beers were available the waiter said ""Well.....the cheapest thing we have is Miller Lite, so we can start there."" Then when we ordered a bottle of wine that was not his suggested $90.00 bottle of wine he said ""FIne!"" Although he later warmed up later (around tip time) he had long since lost this group. All that being said, we all actually enjoyed our food. The onion soup was the best I ever had and the duck was out of this world. One bit of warning, the sides (shared by the table) arrive in small iron dishes that are very hot to the touch - I'm sure our waiter meant to mention that. We all agreed that this was a great place to look at but not a nice place to sit in and have a meal. I feel sorry for the chef that his food is so overshadowed by everything else in Trois. With fewer tables and more attention to service it could be a very good dining experience. It's a shame that the most pleaseant person we met all night was the valet. I went during the resturant week and the waitress was extremly rude. She lied to us about the menu so we wouldn't get the special for the restruant week. worst dessert, average service 9/24/2007

I have to say that Trois had the worst dessert I have ever tasted. There were sea salts in the caramel pudding and when I asked the waitress about it, she said it was a great surprise. I was thinking a bad surprise. The entrees were decent and the decor is beautiful. The service was slow and the average priced entree is very high. more

American-French chic meets Southern hospitality 9/23/2007

My wife and I had a lovely time at Trois this weekend. We sat on the patio overlooking the skyline and had some of the best food. My wife had the duck, which was succulent and flavorful. I had the beef oxtail. The meet was tender and rich, and the scallops were seared perfectly. The wine steward's recommendations paired with precision. Expected Better 8/26/2007

My husband and I went to Trois to celebrate my birthday. We were visiting from NYC and were recommended Trois and Joelle. Unfortunately Joelle was closed for renovation and had the unpleasant experience of dining at Trois. I was told 6:30 was the only reservation we could have even though when we left near 9pm, there were more empty tables than I would have expected. We are still trying to figure out why we had two servers while all the other tables around had one. Two servers together were not able to keep the service flowing and one the servers was totally unfriendly. They explained a special of 3 chamagnes to taste and rather than bring one at a time, they brought all three and could not remember which was which. We decided to order a few appetizers to share. Two were not served and one was incorrect- we ordered oysters on the shell and instead given oysters under a heavy sauce that was not very appetizing, When our dinner was delivered, I asked for a glass of wine and had to wait almost 20 minutes, along with a reminder to bring the wine. We sat next to another couple who were not very pleased with their experience as well. I thought the kicker of night was when our plates were cleared and our server asked my husband if he ever ate rabbit before coming to Trois and then proceeded to tell him it tasted like chicken and is a good dish to try. I thought that is a question you ask at the beginning of the service if someone had never eaten a dish like rabbit. They attempted to bring a level of class and failed miserably. I have told my friends living in Atlanta to save their time and their money. more

Not Worth the Glamour 7/17/2007

I dined at Trois last weekend and I felt the experience was not worth all the glamour it offered. It's a beautifully decorated restaurant with complimentary Champagne toast, etc. However, the portions were way too small (I would never take a guy with a healthy appetite there!). Also, seating was quite crammed. We were so close to our neighbors, we were actually able to converse with them. If you need some privacy during your meal or you want a nice romantic date, this is definitely not the place to go. However, it has a great lounge. So if you want to enjoy a drink or two at the lounge with some friends. I'll recommend Trois.
