Editorial review from Citysearch 8/18/2013

FALSE ADVERTISING. LIARS. DISHONEST. AVOID. \r \r We saw on Toyota of Manhattan's website a 2011 Rav4 Sport priced at $11,990. \r \r We called and asked, specifically: is this a mistake, is this the correct price? We were told it was the correct price. Though skeptical, we made an appointment to see the car and test drive it. \r \r When we arrived, our salesman, John, showed us the vehicle. When we told him the online price he said, and I quote: ""we would have to honor that price."" \r \r John then went to find more information about the vehicle. He returned to us and said: ""I have good news and bad news. The good news is, that is the same vehicle you saw online. The bad news is, it's $20,000."" \r \r ""So you're NOT going to honor that price?"" we asked. He said no. We, of course, made an issue of this and reminded him that when we first called and SPECIFICALLY ASKED if it was the correct price, giving them every opportunity to recognize the mistake (if indeed it was one) we were told IT WAS THE CORRECT PRICE. \r \r John then went get his manager, Kevin Primus. Kevin told us a ""mistake"" had been made. He asked us if he could sell us a new car. We said, no. He then sat there and said nothing. Literally. Nothing. He doodled on a piece of paper, traced over the $11,990 number he had written, and SAID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. He stared at us, we stared at him. Finally, we said: ""Are you going to DO something?"" He said he could not sell us the car for that number. When we pointed out that this is illegal, he said it was not. It is. \r \r Finally we asked, ""What CAN you sell it for?"" He said $20,000. He said maybe he'd knock off $300. We said that was not good enough. We suggested he meet us in the middle, at $16,000. He said he needed to speak to his general manager. He left. \r \r When Kevin returned he said they would not lower the price. The price was $20,000. We walked out. \r \r But it gets better: That $11,990 price remained on their website for a good 3-4 hours after this conversation. (If it was such a terrible mistake, as they insisted, wouldn't you want to correct that immediately?) And when it WAS finally changed? The price? $17,995. \r \r These people are liars. They do not stand by what they say. And they are a waste of time. Do not trust what is on their website. Do not trust the inventory. Do not trust the prices. And most of all, do not trust them or what they say to you, on the phone or in person. \r \r Here's a tip, Toyota of Manhattan. Customer service is not about offering people coffee, tea or water every ten minutes. It is about treating them honestly. Respectfully. And fairly. \r \r You failed at all three. more

Thank you! 1/5/2012

My wife and I visited Toyota of Manhattan just to ""kick some tires"" and compare prices. Jose greeted us and he was very pleasant and professional to deal with. He showed us a few Camrys and we decided on one we liked. The price was great, and Jose's manager Jody was great to deal with. Before we knew it we were in Ray's (Finance) office and driving out in our new Camry! After visiting a few other local dealers, this dealer was a breath of fresh air! I look forward to returning to this dealer for service & maintenance. If their service department is anything like their sales department, we are good to go! more

Worst Toyota Service Department In The Region 7/12/2011

One of the worst service departments in the region. Car jockey broke my antenna bringing it down the elevator and never reported it. Prep guys and service techs failed to put down paper and soiled my floor carpets with grease from their shoes. Had quarters for parking meters routinely stolen from my ash tray, along with other possessions from my car during services. Service managers did little or nothing about any of these incidents when reported. Their actual routine service work is spotty at best - if you get a good tech on a good day and specify what you want done everything might be okay. But most of the time over my 6 year history at Toyota of Manhattan it wasn't! Repeated faulty brake lining readings by techs during regular services lead to my rotors burning out. Service department performed useless alignment to correct drifting complaint when left side struts and mounts were shot and needed replacement. I also believe I was a victim of fraud for a $2,000 repair that was never needed. Take your Toyota to Parkway Toyota in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. They are far and away the best Toyota service center near NYC and will get you a loaner car. more

Fraudulent Advertising 2/12/2011

I called these people as they had placed an ad in the New York Daily News and Autotrader for a Toyota Tacoma. There advertised price was $20,999. When I called the dealership, I spoke to a sales manager, ""Theo."" I told him that I was traveling from New Jersey and I wanted to confirm the vehicle was still there and the advertised price was correct. He told me to bring in the ad. I informed him that I was traveling from New Jersey and did not want him wasting my time. He told me to bring in the ad and they would make the deal. When I arrived to negotiate for the vehicle, they said, ""oh no. This is not the correct price of the vehicle. You did not read the fine print. At the end of the ad in a disclaimer, it stated that Autotrader is not responsible for the accuracy of the reported advertisement. So, basically they placed a scam ad in the New York Daily News and placed it on the Autotrader. I reported them to the Attorney General and advise EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS THEY ARE SCAMMERS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. more
