Toscana Restaurant & Bar

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague who had been there a couple of years ago.\r I called to make reservations and was told there wouldn't be any necessary if I made it there by 6:30 PM.\r When I wanted to make one anyway, the person on the phone insisted it wouldnt' be necessary.\r \r We made it there by 6:30 PM, and were greeted by an argument of who it was I had spoken with over the phone. They denied ever speaking with me over the phone and did not have a regular table. Instead, they offered us a tiny table in the aisle with some uncomfotable metal chairs. Overall, poor and defensive response.\r \r Since it was a long drive for us to the place and we were hungry, we settled for the tiny table set in the aisle section. The problem was this was about a half level below the bar section (also with aisle tables) and there was occasionally a drop of wine, water, or food splling into our table from above.\r \r The owner/ manager had waited on us and seemed extremely rude, conceited, and impatient when asked questions.\r \r The food was good but not great! \r \r Definitely not going back!\r more

No redeeming features. Were first greeted with ""...we are out of..."" and that covered most of the fish, risotto, and specials. My wifes meal was overly peppered and mine was much too salty. Service was ...well, not very good. The restaurant itself is noisy, crowded and, actually, has a TV at the bar!! \r \r Oddly enough we have eaten at Il Posto (owned by the same folks) and enjoyed it. As to Toscano, why bother with a jacket & any fancy dress. We are new to Charlotte and have had some excellent dining experiences but this was not one. \r \r We do not recommend an will not return. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Southpark. You can always count on excellent food. In the mood for pasta go with the rigatoni & sausage. Want seafood, order the whole Brunzino which is served table side. If the weather is good make sure you eat outside. Pros: Consistent, authentic more

I tried their 4 restaurants and this is the best. Coco and IlPosto you dine in the kitchen and they treat you like it unless you are lucky and it's a beautiful night and you can eat outside. The food is cavalier but not bad. The food at Toscana is very good. The wine is way over price and the waiter thinks he's the Pope himself and treat you with quite and attitude !!! In Charlotte we don't have much to choose from so we have to do with it I guess. I just wish they will realise we are in Charlotte not New York and put their price in accordance until we reach the status of NYC. Wonderful setting, but the wait staff could use some improving. They were knowledgeable, but had more attitude than this southerner cared for. Overall a very enjoyable evening. more

I had two visiters from Italy with me who loved this restaurant. Good food, great wine list. I have been there three times. The service can be very bad and a few of the waiters are poorely trained and have bad attitudes. I left a 10% tip on my last visit. I went back recently and had a good experience. Very nice Calamari! My first visit to Toscana was also my last. We had a large party and consistently had trouble keeping our waiter's attention, though he seemed to have plenty of time to provide great service to the smaller tables around us. When I pulled the manager aside to let him know that our party loved the food, but was not receiving good service, he implied that I must have been mistaken. When a simple apology would have smoothed things over, we were treated rudely and slapped with a 20% included gratuity. The food is excellent but in the future, I will be going to places with good food AND good service. more

This Italian eatery won't disappoint...it has a great atmosphere, a friendly staff and delightful food. The dishes are inventive and the authentic staff are happy steer you in the right direction.
