Great sushi, maybe the best in Westlake, terrible service.
I have been to this sushi restaurant two times now. Both times the service has been bad.
The first time we sat at the sushi bar, the sushi chef was rude and not interested in talking to us. He seemed to be bringing all of the other customers at the bar all kinds of specials. I asked him several times what the specials were and what was most fresh, I could never get an answer. I guess you have to be a regular here for him to be interested in serving you.
Went again last night. Sat at a table this time. :)
Took us 10 minutes to get a beer. The beer was warm, I asked for a cold beer, they said there were none (!!!!?), they brought out a bucket of ice and put the beer into it.
Had to ask the busboy to get our waitress so we could order.
During dinner when the waitress came back, we asked her for some more ginger and some eel sauce on the side. She nodded then asked curtly “is there anything *else* you need?”.
They just brought the check out and put it on the table, not bothering to ask us if there was anything else we wanted. I guess they were in a rush to get us out of there (we only spent $90 just to two of us, amazing).
I must say the food here is excellent, but the service is just garbage, and they were not even busy that night (it was a Thursday night at about 8:30 p.m.).
This is just another rude and snooty-for-no-reason “Westlake Village” restaurant, unfortunately there are many restaurants around here where I live that have this kind of attitude towards the customers.
If you are in the Valley go to “Makoto” sushi on Ventura, near White Oak. Great sushi with a smile every time.
