Overall, a huge menu with lots of great choices. The milkshakes and fries are probably the best in Cleveland. Try adding the homemade peanut butter in one. There's a huge varie...

fantastic food 4/27/2006

By far one of our favorite places to go in High School. We loved their falafel and milkshakes. They have an amazing variety of food (and people, it's a fantastic place to people watch). The staff is fast and friendly and dining there is always a pleasurable experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

There's Noplace like Tommy's, there's Noplace like Tommy's..... 4/1/2006

MMMMM! That about sums up Tommy's! The food (both vegetarian and meat) is yummy and fast, and reasonably priced. The fries are hot and thickly-cut, and always fried to a perfect golden-brown. As others said, the milkshakes are AMAZING! My favorite is the peanut-butter shake, it cannot be beat anywhere. The sandwiches are usually served on hot pitas, and are thick and full of fresh ingredients. The waitstaff is disproportionately made up of young and beautiful girls, who are mostly very fast and efficient. They do tend to take awhile bringing the check though, so in my experience it is best to request it when the meal is brought out. more

One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Cleveland 3/17/2006

I'm a vegetarian and as many other ones out there know, there are few places that offer a plethora of vegetarian options. Look no further, Tommy's offers the most. Their menu boasts pages upon pages of creative vegetarian selections with only one page dedicated to the carnivores (but don't worry carnivores, my meat eating friends have made Tommy's their favorite too). All of their ingredients are fresh (I've had friends who have worked there who can attest). My favorite thing on the menu is the Ruth, which is a pita packed with spinach, bbq sauce, mushrooms, sprouts, other veggies and cheese. If the menu frightens you, because perhaps you're not ready to venture into the world of vegetarianism (hey, there's fake meat substitutes on the menu too, like tempeh and seitan), then I simply will force you to try one of their milkshakes. They are the best I have ever tasted and are what has put Tommy's on the map. I get the vegan chocolate Rice Dream shake with their homemade peanut butter blended in. You can even come in early and order something from their breakfast menu. If you love the restaurant as much as I do, then you can purchase one of their cute t-shirts they sell more

Great Coventry Spot 9/14/2005

Tommy's has been on Coventry for as long as I can remember. They used to have a dingy space with a rather scary back room, but the current space is beautiful - all blonde wood and open space. The milkshakes are legendary. I don't know what's in them, and I don't care. Perfect dessert after you've eaten something relatively healthy for your meal. They've also got egg creams to die for. I'm partial to the pita sandwiches - the Quigly is my favorite. Tommy's can make what's essentially grilled cheese into something worth craving. Usually busy, you will often wait for a table. The sign up sheet method seems to work pretty well, though I'm always worried they'll forget about me. Great for carry out food too. A Coventry institution - if you find yourself in this neighborhood, you simply must eat at Tommy's. Prices are more than reasonable as well. more

The neighborhood restaurant you've always wanted 8/20/2005

Imagine my delight half a year ago when I read in the Plain Dealer that Tommy's had gone smoke-free. Finally, the only thing I didn't like about Tommy's was gone. The place now smells entirely like food everywhere, and it's wonderful. They have good food. They have vegetarian food and carnivore food and vegan junk and meat, meat, meat. They have wraps and salads and pizza (it's okay, not exceptional) and falafel. Also they have milkshakes that everybody must have once in his life. Some people go, "psh! Tommy's is overrated! It's just cheap diner food!" These people are just jealous that they aren't Tommy. Also, they have the Brownie Monster. This is good dessert. It is seriously good food. Tommy's makes the trip to Coventry from anywhere naer Cleveland worth your while. more

Tried and True 6/26/2005

One of the few restaurants of it's kind in Cleveland. It is on a street called: Coventry RD. which used to be a hip place of cool stores during the "Hippy days". Now it is just a reminder of that time, but it still has some cool businesses that are unique! Tommys has been there since those good old days and has some great vegetarian entrees as well as non-vegetarian one's. A casual, pleasant atmosphere and usually a waiting list during lunch hour on the weekends. more
