Nasty Smell 8/10/2009

We ate at Woodfield Todai in Schaumburg last weekend and there was an incredibly nasty smell emanating from the sushi counter - we though it was bad fish, but notice the rest room is a few feet from the sushi prep area. We avoided the sushi and ate the fried calamari - that looked the safest. We needed to hunt down someone for drink refills, we couldn't find anyone so we talked to the manager - who looked 15 years old. He said "You no pay for drink, you pay me now", and we said "We no come here no more". Never going back. more

Terrible!!!!!! 5/29/2009

Good: The little desserts.. Bad: Everything else.. Improvements: Lower the cost, to like $5.. Other: Bathrooms need auto-flush toilets, people here don't flush.. more

Oh man, where do I start 5/28/2009

After a long day at Woodfield, we thought it would be a good idea to get dinner at Todai... what a big mistake. We must have caught the tail end of the dinner rush because half the buffet was shut down. Sushi selection was limited to California rolls and a few others. The other food (that was left) was not very appetizing or hot. The desserts were OK, but it looked like they offer crepes, but the crepe maker must have gone for the day. We got the bill, and man did my jaw drop! The amount they charged us was absolutely ridiculous! I can understand the cost if they offered good food and a nice atmosphere, but you get neither here. more

Major Disappointment 5/23/2009

We had lunch there yesterday and the restaurant is not very clean. The food was low quality and service is non-existent. Sushi selection was poor and was not very good. When we got the bill we were shocked.... $175 for four adults!!! We're never going back. more

Not Good 5/14/2009

We went there last weekend and it was a very bad experience. It was very crowded, they jam as many tables as they can and no one can walk around without dumping their plate on you. The food is low quality, actually those chinese fast-food places are better quality. The sushi is also low quality and made by people who look like they were just washing the dishes. Was surprised when we got the bill, at over thirty dollars a person, this is very expensive. We will never return to TODAI. more

Waste of money 5/13/2009

If you want good sushi, go somewhere else... Otherwise if you're hungry for cheap California rolls and spend a lot of money for it at the same time - then this is the place for you. Much better alternatives in mall or nearby suburbs. more

Todai in Chicago: Great selection of sushi and Asian food 8/4/2006

If you love sushi and typically spend more than $15 then this is your place. Around $15 for lunch and $25 for dinner you can get all you can eat sushi, udon noodles, stir fry, and anything asian you can think of. The good thing of this Todai is that it was located in Woodfield Mall. Come prepared to wait in line, everyplace we have been to the Todai had at least an hour wait. My husband and I have eaten Todai in Chicago, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and California. Hawaii is hands down the best. Although in Hawaii, everywhere was great sushi. more

Go for the dinner buffet 6/22/2006

I've been here for both lunch and dinner. While you'll save a bit on the lunch buffet, I think it is worth paying extra and going for the dinner buffet. The dinner buffet has a lot more options and I think it is better in almost every way. Their selection of sushi is preatty good and very impressive for an all you can eat buffet. They also have a variety of soups and salads plus a bubble tea bar thats great too. more

Todai is great if you love sushi and seafood 3/19/2006

I went along with the gag by going to Todai at Woodfield Mall. You see, I do not go for sushi and seafood. Todai is famous for its sumptuous sushi and seafood buffet. The non-seafood choices were fairly limited, but still I had udon soup, vegetable tempura, and numerous choices from the excellent dessert counter including fresh crepes. It is a pricey buffet, but I was not the one paying. more

Sushi Buffet 3/15/2006

This place is a must try if you are a sushi fanatic. They have all you can eat sushi and it is buffet style so you eat whatever you want, how much ever you want, and for as long as you want. Great Deal! The sushi is real yum here and I guess that is why they charge so much, but it is definitely worth it. They also have a great dessert bar here, so save room for dessert! If you don;t want to pay so much for the dinner buffet, try the lunch buffet, its about five dollars cheaper. more

Lots of selection, slightly lower quality, but good! 8/1/2005

If you enjoy sushi, and want to try EVERYTHING on the menu but are afraid to, this is definitely a great option for you. You can eat as much as you want, and there is so much to choose from. I've only been to Todai for Dinner, which I found to be somewhat expensive (20ish a person), but I do intend to go back for lunch. I don't think it's really worth the price for dinner. The sushi was good, considering it is buffet style and thus has to be pre-made in somewhat large quantities. It certianly is nowhere near as good as fresh sushi made in specialty restaurants, but like I said , the variety is a lot of fun to sample. The hot dishes and desserts were also very tasty. more

All You Can Eat Sushi 7/28/2005

This place has all you can eat sushi. It is served buffet style, so you can eat as much as you want and stay as long as you want. They have a lot of variety and everything is served in small portions, so you can try a lot of different types of foods without wasting it. The price is a little high for dinner (about $20 per person), so I recommend going for lunch when it is half the price but there is still plenty of selection. Drinks are not included in the buffet price. more

Sushii! 7/26/2005

If you are a sushi lover, this is the place for you! They have a dinner and lunch buffet filled with different kinds of sushi. It is sushi heavan for sushi lovers! The restraunt is really well kept and there's plenty of seating. If you aren't a big fan of sushi, there's lots of other seafood on the menu as well. The buffet is pretty highly priced, but the food is delicious and there's lots to choose from. Don't miss out on this one if you are a sushi lover! more
