Tourist trap - don't go 4/22/2012

I live in Seattle and took the kids to Tillicum Village today. Here's is what they don't tell you: You must pay for soft drinks - they are not free with your meal The food is so-so, not the best salmon and clams available in Seattle. Once you are seated, there is no wait staff to serve you. I would not consider this "all you can eat" as it would be impossible to get back to the food line for seconds. The "live performance" is moslty pre-recorded audio and video more

Tillicum Village 2/1/2009

Not the fanciest thing, but great if you have friends coming into town, especially young kids or older people. It starts at pier 56 on the waterfront of downtown seattle, then involves a 30 minute boat ride on an argosy cruise boat to Blake Island. once you get there, you get clams (don't eat them, they never clean those huge pots, you might notice the people that work there don't eat them...) but it's fun to stomp the clam shells into the walkway. Then you get the great salmon lunch/dinner (depending on what time you go) the salmon is GREAT, and the bread is even better!!! i love the potatoes... but the bread, if you come out for seconds during the show and there's still bread left, take as much as you can... best bread you'll ever have... the show is cool, and when your done with your food there is a chocolate in the shape of a salmon. then you have time to walk around the island (don't walk around the whole island, you'll miss your boat back to seattle) and there is an ice cream shoppe, the ice cream is amazing as well!!! all the staff are real friendly and it's a good time. it's something like 60 dollars per adult, i believe. but all in all it takes up a good chunk of time for entertaining friends and family. more

Native Dinner and a Cruise 8/31/2005

Tillicum Village involves taking a boat tour from downtown Seattle to Blake Island. Blake Island is essentially a park reserve island in Elliot Bay. The boat ride to the island takes 30 minutes or so. It is a fun, narrated tour describing various sites along the way. It's also a pretty way to see the city from a different perspective. The dinner at Tillicum Village is basically a salmon dinner meant to evoke a potlatch. There is a dinner show of Native American dancers and storytelling. It can feel a bit hokey, but tourists, kids and grandparents especially seem to have a really good time. more
