I love this place! It is cozy and intimate. I walk through here after a stressful day of work just to peruse their shelves. They stock a great collection of real literature and no...

Please Shop Here - We Need Book Stores Like This 3/27/2006

So many people shop at Amazon and Barnes and Noble that it is a wonder that any small and independent shops still exist. I am happy to report that NYC still has a few and this is (in my opinion) one of the best. The people who work here are readers, God bless them, and they have opinions. If you go in and ask them for a recommendation, they will be happy to start you on the road to a new genre or a new author on a favorite genre. I shop here just to put money in their coffers because I want them around to help me learn more about exciting literature and new voices. Go. Spend. Enjoy. more

A book-lover's heaven 8/18/2005

Three Lives & Company is not a large bookstore, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. Every single book that graces its shelves is an engrossing read, hand-picked by the people who work there. The store's employees love books just as much as the customers. Three Lives & Company is a wonderful, special place to buy books. more

Quaint neighborhood shop without a Starbucks 8/6/2005

This kind of friendly, neighborhood bookstore reminds me of the one from the movie You've Got Mail. I'm amazed that a store like this can exist given the influx of Barnes & Noble's around the city (there's one located two blocks from this store). But Three Lives is a great store - they always have hte best books available and displayed in their windows (I love walking by and seeing what's new and noteworthy). I'd say the only downsides are the availability of some books and the pricing (they dont' discount heavily like B&N does). Also, sigh, I hate to say it, no cafe and no real sitting areas to enjoy. But the staff is very smart and knowledgeable so if you're a real book lover, then this store is for you. Don't just pass it by. more
