I heart Trivia @ Third Base! 5/30/2010

I have recently discovered Trivia at Third Base. It is so fun. We have a group that goes there now every Tuesday. We have placed a few times and the prizes are $75 gift card for first place and $40 for second and $20 for third. We loved the Saturday Night Live and 80's movie rounds! We didn't win the free pitcher of beer for best team name again though this time! I have always loved going to Third Base but now I love it even more. I am a trivia nerd to the max and this trivia is so much better than other bars that TRY to have fun trivia but its just always disappointing. Thanks Third Base!!! Pros: Food, Beer, Hot Chicks more

Horrid Beer Selection, Poor Management 9/21/2008

I used to love Third Base. They advertise ""good"" beer and ""good"" beer selection. Not so much. If you want macrobrewed domestics that you can get anywhere, go to Third Base. If you are looking for a tasty microbrew or two, find another place. As for the food, it is average, but pricey.\r \r Now, here's the kicker. Not a fan of the management. I have set up a couple events with them. Reserved room. But, when we show up, we are greeted with ""just find a place to stand."" And, then constantly, ""You can't stand here. We are serving the people at the tables."" Not impressed.\r \r On a positive note, the facilities are awesome. Bathrooms are great. Pros: food, bathroom, tables Cons: service, management, price, beer more

WoW! Fun ! 7/10/2008

Went to Watch Cubs game the other day. I wish they had more of these, TV's everywhere and highquality. I got a Salad for lunch, It was huge and fresh not what i expected to see on the menu at a sports bar with a TON of beer, Yum Beer. Our Waitress was pretty cute too, Ill be back alot.\r Pros: Good Food, All the games i could watch with my own eyes Cons: not yet more

good place to watch a game! 3/14/2008

I highly recommend this place to watch a game! Much bigger than most sports bars and the food isn't have bad. The waitress was nice and didn't have attitude like some. I'll be going back for every game! more

cool sports bar 12/28/2007

lots of TVs. reasonable beer. Nachos are decent. Food seemed ok for a sports bar. Again, lots of TVs reasonable beer. Waiter was swamped but did a great job. during a UT game... Pros: good sports bar Cons: food is only ok (but its a sports bar, so come on) more

Best Sports Bar In Town! 11/30/2007

Third Base totally rocks! They have a decent selection of beer and liquor, plenty of open space so you don't feel crowded even if it is a packed night, and there is always an event going on that keeps me wanting to come back for more. The staff is also quick with their service and very personable. An example of this is last night I wanted a breath mint after having dinner there and they were all out, so the owner offers me a piece of gum instead! If you are looking for a place to watch the game, hang out with friends, or just to get out of the house, Third Base of Austin is where it's at. more

(((((((((((((( AVOID ))))))))))))))))))))0 11/14/2007

Food was terrible, had to send back my iced tea due to bad taste (try cleaning the tea brewing machine once in a while--it makes a world of difference). Couldn't eat the Burger because it tasted horribly burned and the meat was very sour. The bun was full of greese, and the greens were limp. My brother had the flat iron steak and he could not cut through it very well. I tasted it and it had gobs of black pepper all over and the meat was freezer burned. Why would the chef not be using fresh food is beyond me. Stop being lazy and use fresh food, it's not rocket science. The wait staff was great!!!!! The girls were very cute. more

Everything is GREAT about Third Base 11/8/2007

That's right, I said it, EVERYTHING. The services, the food (try the tortilla soup), the prices, the beer, their lunch and happy hour specials, TONS of t.v.s showing every game, the free covered parking and patio seating. This place is a must try for lunch and game watching. more

Great TVs and good beer selection 10/30/2007

I like how they say that it's called Third Base because it's your last stop on your way back to home. Nice baseball metaphor for a sports bar. They have a ton of large flat-screen TVs, so you've got a good seat for the game no matter where you're sitting. I was there for Monday Night Football and the crowd was lively, but not obnoxious. We didn't have the best service, but it was good enough. Just a little stand-offish. The parking is kinda weird, since you pretty much have to park in a parking garage and then walk down, but at least it's free and there's plenty of it. more

Best sports bar and maybe even just all-around BAR in Austin! 10/18/2007

I know that my review will not sit well with some, especially the 'best all-around' designation, but if the shoe fits--you know the rest! The location is good. It's well lit and very clean. The parking is in a garage on top of the bar. The staff is very nice and efficient and knows their stuff. The food is pretty great. The plasma's are EVERYWHERE. The other patrons that go here are pretty cool too. I am not sure what more you could want from a bar. I know that my friends and I go here anytime there is a sporting event to watch football, baseball, etc. It does get really crowded with others who have discovered how great it is--BIG TIP--come early from your game of choice!! Enjoy! Pros: Clean, great service, great food, easy parking, great plasmas! Cons: Sundays get a little packed--what can you expect from such a great sports bar? more

Awesome food ~ Great prices! 7/15/2007

I've been here twice and every time I browse the menu I find myself wanting to try everything! From the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak Rolls to the Fried Okra...every single item I've tried has been fantastic! The atmosphere is definitely sports-like and friendly as well. The outside patio is great for people who want to run outside for a quick smoke. This is my favorite place! Pros: free parking, great service and prices, awesome food! Cons: none that I know of... more

Best sports bar in Austin 6/27/2007

Plenty of parking, Lot's of TV's, Upscale but reasonably priced. Great place to watch any event. Would highly recommend. Our company has had two happy hours (around 50+ people) here and were very pleased with the service and the bill. No sweat giving the boss the tab Friday morning. Pros: Parking, great food for a sports bar more

A great power-lunch spot --lively and casual atmosphere with excellent food and wide range of choices 6/27/2007

Third Base has become a solid favorite for my business or client lunches because the food is consistently great (trendy, very tasty, and lots of choice from light to large portions). Colleagues and clients ask to go back! I have even scheduled large lunch groups and have had EVERYONE rave about their menu choice --from the burgers, to great salads, sandwiches, to shrimp tacos (my all-time favorite!) to a great steak. A super selection of Appetizers, like the nachos or the mini-burgers, rate big raves and can serve a number of people. The desserts are real winners and big enough to share.\r \r I've been to Third Base at a wide variety of times and, even when it's crowded, the service is prompt and the quality never suffers. Even though the place is new, the kitchen must be real pros! \r \r Sports Bar and Grill or lunch business spot??! The 32 plasma screens are glitzy and fun --great conversation, if you want a diversion, but (surprisingly) not distracting if you need to focus during lunch. (Once the after-work or evening crowd gathers, forget meeting . . . the atmosphere is way too fun by then!) Early or late the waitstaff is always upbeat and alert, but not intrusive; they are also friendly about special requests and separate checks even with a large party.\r \r I am so confident about the place that the local branch of a national non-profit I work with has taken my suggestion to schedule its yearly large fundraising kick-off lunch in the Third Base side room (fits 80 or 90). Third Base provides access to its built-in digital projector and screen to show our own video and digital slides during lunch. This is a unique high-energy venue that will really work for us and (not to repeat myself) I can count on the food being excellent --not the rubber-chicken variety served up at most large group events! more

New West Sixth Street Find 6/26/2007

I will be back for The Vegetable Medly, The Fried Okra and The Tortilla Soup. They are not what you would expect at a sports bar but they are out of this world. I thought that the cafe umbrellas made the outdoor dining patio quite romantic. It's a great new lunch find. And a happy wait staff adds to the atmosphere of a very sociable place. Lots of free covered parking. What could be easier. Enjoy! Pros: Thirty-two 50 inch Plasmas Cons: Only 12 beers on tap. No Cusquena. more

TVs everywhere (even in the bathroom!), Tasty food, Lots of FREE parking, and Nice People. A much needed sports bar for Austin! 3/22/2007

Some friends suggested we meet at Third Base to watch a basketball game. I had never been there, but I am always looking for a comfortable place to relax and watch a game. Well, this place has a lot more to offer than just lots of big flatscreen TVs (which are even in the bathrooms!). The food was actually tasty--most unexpected for a sports bar--and there was lots of parking even though the place was packed. Now, if you live in Austin and want to go somewhere downtown you know how hard it is to get parking, but at this place I actually parked in their garage and took the elevator right to door. Very nice. And even though I was for the opposing team, *not always a good situation in a sports bar in Texas*, everyone I met was friendly and by the end our table had grown to include four new people who we ended up drinking and laughing with for two hours. I also noticed this place had a new shuffle board table, pool tables and darts. All around a good mix for a sporting place, just the right fit of restaurant and bar. And the drinks were not overpriced! Overall I would have to say I highly recommend Third Base. Just the sports restaurant/bar that downtown Austin needed. more

Great food, tons of TVs! 3/22/2007

FINALLY! It's hard to find a good bar/restaurant that combines good sports viewing and good food in one. I'm not kidding about the food, either. It's good and it's not just the usual fare. Try the philly rolls. Also, lots of FREE parking. Pros: Food, TVs (even in the bathrooms), Parking Cons: Can't think of any more

Best Bar & Restuarant combination in town. 3/9/2007

If your looking for a fun bar with great atmosphere this is it. There is always a crowd there and parking is easy. The food is an unbelievable bonus. Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls with Ranch Dressing are my favorite. Every thing about this place is smokin hot! Pros: bar, food, parking, staff Cons: smoking is allowed on the out door patio more
