Racism is alive and well 5/13/2012

I have been there a dozen times in the past but was denied entry simply because I was black cuz believe i looked good! The ugly bouncer discriminated against black and hispanics right in front of the hispanic police officers. The dumbest part was the fact that they were playing black music but not letting us in. Stuff got real crazy when the racist douche of a bouncer put hands on a female.... Just an overall FAIL of an establishment. more

Bouncers think they are above the law here 2/19/2012

Absolutely horrendous service was rendered on the evening of February 18. It was a Saturday night and things were going fairly well until the end of the night. As the venue was clearing, we were waiting on someone to bring us a tab which we asked for. The tab never came, so we eventually walked to the bar to close out. Keep in mind we had bottle service and typically the waitress brings the tab to your table. Nevertheless myself and a few others were closing the tab for the table at the bar. The bouncer, which was an african american medium build with a black beanie began shouting and hollering ""if you're not paying a tab get the fu** out."" I'm sorry I understand your frustration, but at the same time please understand you are in the hospitality industry. In this line of business customers are valued for their time and money. As the bouncer was able to clear the majority of people, I was still waiting for the bartender to process my card and bring the ticket. At this point the bouncer came to myself and a comrade and continued to express explicit language towards us. I admit I was beginning to feel a little agitated at the treatment of this bouncer and expressed ""I am paying a tab."" After I made this statement, the bouncer felt very offended I would raise my voice after being spoken to as I had been and stated ""dont play, I will knock you the fu** out. Don't fuc***g raise your voice at me. I'll knock you the fu** out. You better show me some respect bi***."" My initial thought was to yell back ""please knock me out,"" but at the same time it was a friend's birthday and I did not want any trouble. Has the Drinkery establishment gotten so bold, that it feels it can have its security speak to patrons in such a manner? If the Drinkery management questions this review please refer to your bar staff, as they were very apologetic. Regardless of how much sincerity was expressed by their bar staff, should they not have reported this bouncer to senior security or management? Also if management would like to investigate further, please contact me and I will provide a ticket number along with the individual that processed my ticket. I closed my tab very calmly leaving a 20% tip, looking forward to leaving this review. I will never visit this establishment again. I will never recommend this venue to anyone I know. I will never accept this treatment from any establishment ever. Please provide the appropriate training to your staff to better handle such a situation. I am absolutely appalled at the way myself and my friend were treated. To anyone that reads this review, please consider the numerous other bar/pubs on Washington before venturing to this one. No one should ever accept this sort of treatment from any establishment. more

Egocentric female bartender 10/20/2011

On night at the Drinkery I was with a group of friends and had been ordering drinks from a particular bartender all night. She made excellent drinks and the night was going good. Until one of my friends decided to buy me a drink. I met her at the bar to notice she had a different bartender than the one I had been going to. I told my friend to order from the other bartender because she made good drinks. Well the bartender that was helping us heard me and got up set. She poured the drinks out and told us that she was the GM of the bar and if I didn't get drinks from her than I wasn't getting drinks from anyone in the bar. She had a very big Ego. Later I realized that she was the same Egocentric bartender from a previous time I had been at the Drinkery. Previously, I left my purse at the bar and as soon as I stepped outside I realized it. I turned around and asked someone if they could go get it and they were happy to help. But during the time that the other staff member went to look for my purse. A woman came up to the door and told me that there was nothing left in the bar. She proceeded to tell me that she was the GM and no one was getting in the bar without her permission. At that time the staff member came back to the door with my purse. I dropped the issue with the GM but I walked off thinking what a B*tch! more

Wow 9/15/2011

I went last Friday to the Drinkery with a friend of mine. We are both African American males and when we arrived I got in no problem, but the bouncer told my friend his polo was to long and if he wanted to get in he had to go around back!! When he got in we noticed that people where in there with shorts and t shirts so obviously the dress code is not strict. The bartender was slow and the drinks less than par. Washington is one of my favorite hang out spots but the Drinkery is a waste of a perfectly good lot. more

Mean Girl Bartender 6/27/2011

I went here last Saturday to meet up friends. The night was going pretty well until one of the female bartenders (I didn't catch her name) decided that she didn't like being waved down by my friend who was just trying to get her attention to get a drink as we were waiting for almost 10 minutes in front of her and being ignored. She then proceeded to get one of the security cops attention to throw my friend and the rest of our group out. Not only was that completely unnecessary but it made me feel that they hire ignorant, self-absorbed little girls at this place who feel that they can treat any human being whichever way they want just to get some sort of power rush. It was a very childish, ""mean girl"" move. I don't think she would have done that if my friend who was trying to get her attention was a guy. Needless to say, I doubt we'll ever return to this place. more

My go to spot 4/5/2011

The Drinkery is my go t.o spot on Washington Avenue... I'm out with friends at least 3 nights a week and it seems like we cant stay away from the Drinkery. We started coming to the Drinkery when it was one of the first few bars on the Washington strip, since then I can think of 30 other bars that have opened up but we still keep coming back. There was a time when the bar seemed to be finding its niche on the strip, but it has never lost its allure. We come here to DRINK!!! As the name implies it is a bar dedicated to getting me drunk, there is a dance floor'ish area and a dj on the weekend but the huge patio is a great place to chill when the weather permits. The only bartender I will go to is the tall bald guy ""birdy"", he makes a great drink and always has a smile. more

This is actually a bar! Not a club, not a fraternity meeing place, an actual honest to goodness bar on Washington Ave. Lot of space inside and out, nice staff, good prices. Pros: They have parking! Huge Deck, friendly staff Cons: Need a bigger menu :) more

Best on Washington 8/17/2009

Great place on Washington for drinks with friends. This is one of the few happy hour locations that me and friends can always agree on for after work get togethers. Pizza is awesome (same styles as Corkscrew) and service is always great. Pros: Brand new renovation, Casual & upscale feel, Great Pizza Cons: Parking can be tricky; more

The same great pizza from The Corkscrew is also served here, starting with happy hour and throughout the night. A more extensive menu is to come soon.
