I'm sorry but I have found my experience at the Stags to be great ... as for the waitstaff / bartenders they are outstanding ... if your looking for the ""Hooter girl experience""...

What happened to this place? 3/23/2011

Went a few weeks ago and held off on the review to regroup. Used to love it here for good pub food and intelligent service. No more, sorry to say. Reminds me of bennigan's now (may it RIP)... with less class and worse food. What a loss. more

Worst Bartender EVER 9/5/2010

I too had a horrible first experience here with the rudist bartender I've ever had. The date that brought me here, as I wanted to go to a pub after dinner, was extremely embarrased for choosing this place. I will not go back and have definitely spread the word to my friends to go elsewhere. more

Effective meeting spot 1/13/2009

I held a meeting at Stag's Head in their meeting room and though it was not our traditional venue, it went well. There is a wide variety of foods, so everyone had something they liked, from pizza to salads to traditional English breakfast or a burger. Pros: good location, ample parking during day, decent food Cons: dark meeting room more

horrible service 5/16/2008

The staff for the most part are great, some of the best bartenders in the city. But I will no longer drink here because of the rudest bartender i have ever encountered. A few months ago I was there late on a Friday night. I ordered a round from this bartender, who told me that he ""doesn't make those"" and walked off. The other bartenders quickly came over and apologized, and made the drinks for me. One of the bartenders informed me that this was their manager! I hadn't been in since until last weekend, when I stopped by for a nightcap on Friday. Service was exceptional, until the same bartender/manager came out on the patio with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other, and took our drinks away. I informed him that it wasn't even 2 o'clock yet, and I had just bought that drink at last call just a few minutes before. He mumbled something about ""bar-time"", took our drinks away and told us that ""the bar's closed, go home"". I am still appalled at the way he spoke to us, not to mention the cigarette smoke he blew in my face. That will be the last time I spend money in that bar, and judging by how many people were in there on a Friday night (six), it seems their reputation is getting around. Pros: usually great service, good food Cons: can be filthy on certain nights more

Great Staff ...... 5/8/2008

I'm sorry but I have found my experience at the Stags to be great ... as for the waitstaff / bartenders they are outstanding ... if your looking for the ""Hooter girl experience"" you will not find it at the Stags ... these ladies have class and culture ... I understand this can be misinterperted as rude .... but believe me they are not rude. Great ambiance. more

Wifi and Beer - nice mix! 3/20/2008

Good atmosphere, nice patio, decent food (some real hits, though, like their pizzas), and a great selection of beers. This is a very comfortable place to hang out, and it has free wifi, so if you've got to meet someone for a bit and do a demo or surf the web, you can ... before you imbibe in the suds. Pros: wifi, excellent selection of beers Cons: Sometimes average food. more

Filthy 1/18/2008

I've been coming here every year for our Christmas party and always have fun because of the group. Service is a roll of the dice like the reviews say, some have been lucky and some have been otherwise. more

My Once a Month Eatery 1/9/2008

I was actually on here looking to make a comment about Azuma since one was supposed to open near me in the Upper West End Area and I saw a review that I totally disagreed with. This place has about the best food in a 6 block radius of its location and I would say that a large part of it is how well I get treated by the management and wait staff when I go in for lunch or dinner. I actually brought my boss in to eat when I came in from New York and while I was taking a work call in the parking lot he walked in and got seated before me. I found him after the call was done and he told me how weird it was that he was getting treated like a regular but I told him that it was symptomatic of how you get treated in the south but to be honest, since the owner/management are European I guess they're just nice people. more

Unprofessional service! 1/7/2008

I am sorry that I have to say this but I have noticed very unprofessional service at The Stag's Head. Me and my husband visited one time and witnessed a great amount of conflict between the manager and the employee. I mean, if I am sitting at the bar, paying for my drink etc. I don't think that it is appropriate to see the work related drama. We are NEVER going back. We wanted to have a nice night out and instead ended up feeling bad for the waiters that got yelled it. Very very unprofessional! more

Service with attitude 12/24/2007

I seem to keep picking holes in the European drinking holes in my Citysearch reviews. This place is fast becoming a hole due to the terrible service from the staff. I will admit that the bar is not conducive to serving as it has so many blind spots that patrons are often ignored resulting in customers being annoyed before they start their first sip further resulting in initial tense negotiations for drinks. The food is okay, but again is not English, even though they have the obligatory Fish & Chips on the menu. The interior is bland and needs updating and the rest rooms have been noticed to be used for other purposes not involving the sale of alcohol. It is really disappointing that a place which is supposed to be the alternative pub to the Richmond Arms has fallen into such a poor state. The reviews below only strengthen the argument. I didn't enjoy writing this review, but hopefully the owners will take notice and make immediate changes to stop the downward spiral before a permanent hole is created. Pros: Drink selection Cons: Everything else more

Bad quality of customer service 11/22/2007

Once I was there, set at the bar and this girl almost threw the beer in my face. I am not going back! The manager during night is very rude. Although, their food is great, there is a great selection of beers but there is such bad customer service that it is absolutely unbelievable. more

Undesirable service and attitudes 1/24/2007

The Stag's Head is a place I frequent on Tuesday's. The have good beer specials, but I'm not sure I could say it's worth the service I've received. I've basically been told that myself and company lack manners on one occasion due to asking permission to use part of the facility. I can't say all the wait staff is appalling though. There are a couple bartenders that have great attitudes and one waitress that is always very attentive and eager to help. All-in-all, with some staff changes this is a place I might return to. Pros: Beer special, decor, and noise level Cons: Waitstaff, attentiveness more

Best Beer Deal On Tuesdays 10/7/2006

Stag's Head is a great place to go on Tuesdays if you LOVE beer. You can get your favorite domestics (including Shiner) in $5 pitchers....not just for happy hour, but ALL NIGHT! You can't beat that deal. The atmosphere is great for hanging out with a group of friends or playing darts. The pub is large so you don't feel congested, and the bartenders are all very personable. They remember your name and keep the drinks flowing. I highly recommend this bar. Pros: great specials, great service, great location more

Wait staff/ bartenders with bad-tude 7/1/2006

sure, they play all world cup games- and on sundays, bonus, pints are 2.75- otherwise, i'd never step foot inside the place- the staff/ bartenders have the worst attitudes ever- i just moved here from brooklyn, and i'm telling you, these waitresses provide horrible service without a smile- so annoying and disapointing Pros: beer 2.75 on sundays/ world cup Cons: bartenders/ waitresses attitudes and service- huge thumbs down more

Poor Attitude 3/17/2006

Waited 30+ minutes for a table, then was ignored by waitress as she served others, asked for menus and was still ignored, when questioned why, ignored more, so left. OverAll -would never return until new wait staff added. Pros: Beers, Atmosphere Cons: Wait Staff, Service, Attitude more

What a GREAT Place!!! 8/17/2004

I have never received such high quality service at a pub in my whole life! They asked me for my drink order within 20 seconds of walking through the door. They returned with my drink in under 30 seconds. From door to drink was less than a minute. After another draft beer I played a nice game of darts with another patron. I enjoyed the best baked potato soup I've ever had. After choosing a song on the jukebox, I pulled out my laptop and took advantage of the free wireless internet. After having a couple more beers I left with a smile on my face. I highly recommend that you give this place a try. I think I will have my next business meeting in their reserved conference room called the 'Oak Room', which I was told can be catered for such events. Pros: GREAT bartenders, Genuine UK atmosphere, Affordable more

OhMAN was that good 6/7/2004

I found the Stag's Head a few months ago when another place we enjoyed closed it's doors, The Internet Cafe. The WiFi was great and the food was quait, sodas rocked. During our search we checked out the Stag's Head and have found a new home. Very friendly staff, quick drinks and food. I think the best fish & chips in town. They come with Peas, I was ugg, but man these are good, I always clean my plate. I just had the Grilled Chicken club salad w/ the house redwine vinaigrette and I've found a new love and it's Atkins compliant. I'm using their WiFi to write this, we can surf and eat. Thanks Stag's Head, I've found a new home away from home. Pros: Parking, Service, Food & Dring Cons: , it cost money more

Hanging at the Stag! 1/12/2004

The Stag is a great place to eat, meet people and relax. Some jerks in other reviews are moaning but I think it's just a personal problem; I've been coming here for a year and this place ROCKS! Great food that is reasonably priced, great music and NO COVER, friendly folks (working here or enjoying here) and no damn attitude! Just a GREAT place to spend time with friends. Pros: Great bangers & mash, hugh beer selection Cons: parking too crowded, chicks too hot? more

Two Big Pints UP! 8/2/2003

I've been crusing the Houston pub scene for a couple of years now and I keep finding myself at Stags head. The staff is talkative and friendly and I never have to wait for a drink unless its extremely busy and I'm in line. The lunch specials are great - especially the Chicken curry on fries (just like I had 'em in Manchester). The burgers are nice and thick and the Pablano soup is a religious experience. At night the music mixes current Euro hits, alt and progressive rock, and some ""oldies"" popping in from the jukebox. Weekend live music can get loud, but in the dark corner opposite its not bad. And thank God the damnable Karaoke is gone. Pros: Huge beer selection, English food specials, lot of parking Cons: Can get too crowded, No Imperial pints more

3 cheers for The Stag! 7/30/2003

When I walk into the Stag's head, the bartenders, and often the waitresses, will call out my name. By the time I sit down, my beer is in front of me; cold and waiting. The manager will stop by and chat. I visit with couples who come there regularly. Sometimes I listen to the music; other times I make new friends (lots of good-looking ladies) and talk all evening. The atmosphere is friendly; easy to chill in. The food is great. THIS IS WHAT A PUB IS: where everybody knows your name and what you drink. Am I a celebrity to deserve this star treatment? Get real! This is just a cool place full of great people. This is where I take my clients for a business lunch (GREAT) or visit at night to have a good time and not have to yell to have a conversation. Pros: Friendly, Fun, Great choice of beers Cons: Not good for dancing more
