One of the best sofa stores I've ever been to. You know those furniture places where the owner barely speaks English and the selection is either terribly old fashioned or just not...

All reviews seem positive

GREAT place to get a custom sofa 5/10/2010

One of the best sofa stores I've ever been to. You know those furniture places where the owner barely speaks English and the selection is either terribly old fashioned or just not interesting? Well, TSC is the opposite :) So needless to say, it was refreshing to walk into the downtown location. HUGE selection, immediate friednly service and a modern facility all put my husband and I at ease. ""ahhh, this is nice"" we said. Couch hunting can be stressful! And it still was a little bit, just figuring out all the details and choosing the perfect fabric (I liked all of them)....but the whole experience was pleasant, efficient and worthwhile. Worthwhile, meaning waiting while our fabric was back ordered and deciding on another one which made the wait even longer...and the cost of all our chosen extras- soy foam yay!-....still worth it. The couch is AMAZING! a big THANK YOU to Christina for all your knowledge and help! bottom line, it's a perfect place if you want a custom couch. You can get a completely eco friendly couch if you want! However, make sure you have some time to wait for it. (oh and free parking lot- a plus when you live in LA) Pros: selection of styles & fabrics, selection of add on's Cons: backorders of fabrics, price of add on's more

Great Sofas 3/29/2010

Custom Furniture 2/22/2010

I am reporting on my initial purchase experience with the Los Angeles location of The Sofa Company. The store location was the newest addition to the furniture chain, at the time, partially under construction. We were in the market for a contemporary sofa that was customizable to our personal requirements. We were pleased to discover the ""Prima"" sofa that appeared to adequately met our quality and design needs. Pros: Nice Showroom more

lots of choice 11/14/2009

Ordered my chaise from SofaCo after searching for a long time. Amazing assortment of choice in fabrics, styles, etc. Also have options for different budgets. Long lead time though, must be patient. Pros: customize every detail Cons: overwhelming amount of choice more

The ultimate choice! 11/3/2009

After searching and visiting many sofa companies looking for a comfortable yet affordable sofa to combine with my husband's lazy chair, we stopped in at the sofa company near downtown. We live in the area and were passing by. Alex welcomed us and offered her help with any questions. After bombarding her with questions and obtaining her professional advice, we customized our sofa to match our home decor and of course, the lazy boy. Pros: Customizable to your comfort and decor more

I am very happy with my purchase of my two sofas Pros: EASY LOCATION TO FIND IN DOWNTOWN L.A. AREA Cons: I COULD NOT FIND ANY more

Great design and reasonable price 10/13/2009

I was looking for the perfect sectional piece for a long time and finally found one. The problem was it was from a high end contemporary Italian furniture store and the price was outrageously expensive!!! Pros: custom design more

Alex is the best! 9/29/2009

I just moved out here from the east coast and had been searching all over LA for a couch. Craig's list was too sketchy, the Futon shop too overpriced, and every other furniture store either had attractive - but uncomfortable -couches, or vice versa. Then one day I discovered the sofa company's website- their downtown store is practically across the street from me, so I gave them a visit. And - not to sound totally lame - but, once I walked in, it felt like destiny brought me there. Ok that does sound pretty lame. Point is, Alex was super helpful with all the questions I had for her. PLUS the in-home consultation was awesome, with her coming over, checking out the room I wanted to put the sofa in, and discovering a place for it I would have never thought of! (That is, shortening the Gia's length to fit in this particular spot) Bottom line - the sofa co.'s got tons of choices, and the couches are unbelievably comfortable. Oh, and Alex is the best! Pros: Lots of stylish choices Cons: Umm, I don't know... Maybe the fact that it costs money? more

Seriously, go see for yourself! 9/22/2009

Well we needed a new sofa bed and didn't know where to go. We had checked the usual furniture stores to find the same old semi-good quality and ugly designs at the same old expensive prices ... Bummer. Pros: Possibly the best in town Cons: None that I can think of. more

Great Sofa Buying Experience 9/22/2009

Don't even bother with the name brand stores like Crate & Barrel, West Elm, etc. This store had everything I was looking for and more! The large variety of styles and handful of options got me the perfect sofa for my new place. The salesperson (Alex) was very helpful in assisting me with selecting a fabric and answering all the questions that I had. I would definitely suggest The Sofa Company to my friends that are considering sofa purchases. A+ from me. Pros: Large Selection & Customization Options more

Stop researching I did it for you 9/21/2009

Just stop shopping around for a sofa and head in to speak to Alex... She was patient with me, my pregnant wife, and my high energy 3 year old son... Pros: They build whatever you need at a very reasonable price Cons: wait time... but it's custom built more

so-fa, so good 9/9/2009

the downtown store was great. originally had gone to the pasadena site and people there were also very friendly and helpful. all the sales people at downtown store were very friendly and attentive. They let us take our time and were never pushy or insistent. it was a great experience and the prices are very reasonable. Pros: selection and service with a smile Cons: store not quite finished but its going to look great more

customer service 9/8/2009

Fab new showroom on Pico 8/25/2009

The moment had finally come.....after almost 10 years, that $15 thrift store couch had gone from a fab find to an irritating eyesore. I had seen a number of ""Sofa Company"" ads over the past 3 years and decided to check out their website (very user friendly). This led me to their spacious showroom on Pico near Alvarado where there were plenty of sofas and fabrics to choose from. Alex was the sales assistant who helped me to select and define my new couch. She was both patient and design saavy, and seemed almost as excited as I was about my purchase. Thanks to Alex and ""the Sofa Company"", I will soon be ""looking at"" and ""lounging on"" my brand new sofa. Pros: Great selection and staff Cons: ??? more

Super Selection 8/25/2009

Alex was my design consultant at the downtown L.A. store. She was an A+ salesperson. She knew when to give me time to look and when to step in and give me pertinent info. on choices available. She was professional, had knowledge of the product and was able to use her background in design to offer interesting alternatives. Pros: Good price range - helpful website Cons: Wish I knew about it sooner more

Can't wait to see my eggplant sofa in place! 8/23/2009

Alex was so helpful! She appreciated and respected my space limitations and walked the showroom with me to find the only two sofas that would fit. She was very low key and sincerely wanted me to have exactly what I wanted. She helped me make informed decisions about my purchase and was very excited that I opted for a ""fun"" color -- eggplant! I'll send photos, Alex. Thank you again for your assistance; you made me feel like you cared about me and my decision. And thank you for your patience. G Pros: Beautiful showroom Cons: Not enough size selections for what I needed more

Great sofas and Great Service 8/22/2009

Very impressed with The Sofa Company. Many styles and options to chose from and if you don' find exactly what you are looking for...they will design it for you! Alex was wonderful and patient with me while I decided on the perfect sofa. Can't wait to get my sofa! more

Great customer service;beautiful couches 8/21/2009

I had a great experience buying my couch which I love...I worked with Peter and Alex who were helpful, thoughtful, and patient as we went through several rounds of discussions to make sure I bought the right couch and to ensure that I could fit it in my brand new place. Peter was really great about explaining measurements and walking me through the process of ensuring my couch was the right size for my place. Pros: Complete customization at affordable prices Cons: A bit of a wait time in getting your sofa more

Great sofa shopping experience! 8/21/2009

We recently visited The Sofa Company on Pico and had a pleasant, easy experience buying a sofa with all the features we wanted. Our sales rep, Evana, was extremely helpful with showing us examples of all the different features and choosing just the right combination. She was knowledgeable and professional and friendly. She even gave our family cold bottles of water as we were mulling over the fabric choices. The showroom was huge and beautifuly decorated. They also had a nice play area to occupy the kids as my husband and I shopped. I found The Sofa Company on an online search for furniture stores. There is a feature on their site where you can build your own sofa...I recommend checking that out before you go into the store to just become familiar with all of the choices available. The reason I am giving a four instead of a five is because the sofa we ordered was advertised with a 2-3 week completion time and it took a little longer than that, more like 3 weeks, 5 days. Pros: knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff Cons: time for completion a little longer than advertised more

Owner Message

  • In 1998, three college friends started The Sofa Company to finally make the processing of purchasing a sofa fun, fast and simple. Along with the motto "you design it, we build it" came the promise to continue to innovate the selections available and make the process of buying a sofa enjoyable for residents throughout Los Angeles. With showrooms in Pasadena and Santa Monica, and our newest, in Downtown Los Angeles; and a factory clearance center in Commerce, we now can say quite confidently that we have the largest selection of styles, sizes, fabrics, legs, sofabeds in the city.
1-2-3 Process--In our new, easy 1-2-3 process, you first style it, then cover it and then accessorize it. All made in California.
As you see throughout our site, we are quite proud of the fact that we produce our sofa line in the good ole USA and more specifically, Los Angeles, CA.
