Great art museum 6/15/2006

The Legion of Honor is a museum boasting 4,000 years of ancient and European art. Set in beautiful Lincoln Park overlooking Golden Gate Bridge, it offers scenery as well as a place to enjoy and learn about fine art. For those on a tight budget: the first Tuesday of each month is free. more

The Thinker! 6/3/2006

I don't care what anyone says about the obviousness of it: I was completely floored the first time I went to the Legion of Honor, after living in SF for years having no idea, and there it was, the Thinker, by Rodin. Ok, not exactly the one he chiseled from marble, but one of only a few copies that I think he made. Anyways, if you haven't seen it you've gotta check it out. One of those poignant examples of how different it is to see art in real life versus having seen pictures of it a million times. Really, you don't even have to go into the museum... more

Beautiful place 8/16/2005

The Legion of Honor is one of the most beautiful places to visit in San Francisco. The interior and exterior are both stunning. The artwork is beautiful, and I like the layout of the museum very much. I highly recommend this museum and you should be sure to visit this place at least once! more

Palace of the Legion of Honor 8/15/2005

I just love the Palace of the Legion of Honor. Not only are the works of art exhibits within beatiful, but the building itself is also architecturally beautiful. It is also located in a beautiful setting overlooking the Golden Gate bridge. We visit the musuem of a Tuesday because the admission is free on any Tuesday. There is parking available for free also in front of the museum. more

One of the best! 7/27/2005

This is the perfect place for a musuem to be located...right next to the Golden Gate Bridge. the view is amazing. I love the Legion of Honor. I like it when they feature special atrists in their time area. Such rich culture. You never know what to expect whenyou visit this museum. It always has such beautifil art. And the gift shop is not too pricey compared to some. Definitely one of the best places in the city. more

Most Beautiful Fine Arts Musueam of SF 7/15/2005

One of my favorites museums, not only for its stunning location right on the San Francisco Bay that give one spectacular views, but also for it’s wonderful collection, and impressive space that caters to traveling exhibits of world renown. Founded and championed by a art patron family, it is something to behold, and quite a spot for tourists and locals alike. It can be reached via public transit (Muni). more
