I had a blast the last time I was here! The rooftop is a decent ammount of space and the bartenders were cool! more

Extremely poor service 10/9/2011

Normally, I have a blast at this venue. The atmosphere is relaxed and, not to be redundant, but ""funky"". Unfortunately, one of the bartenders provided terrible service my last visit. This is obviously not just my own experience as several other reviewers have complained about even worse service than I had! With cash tip in hand, I waited at the bar for 15 minutes to get a tonic water for the DJ. When I leaned over and finally asked the bartender directly, she screamed to stop yelling at her and then refused to serve me tonic. It's unfortunate that A) the drink was for the DJ who is the reason the bar was packed and B) that she didn't consider the possibility that I might be a designated driver. Tons of other bars in Denver have served me happily knowing I was the sober driver for the night. I understand that these servers depend on tips which is why I had cash out for her, even though water is free. Several people saw this occur and I can guarantee people either got out of line for the night or went to the bar downstairs. By treating customers badly,at the end of the night, bartenders only hurt their own pocketbook. Hopefully, she'll reconsider this next time a customer requests any drink with cash in hand. more

Funky Buddha a Great place BUT AVOID 789 Sherman Parking 1/21/2011

Funky Buddha is a great place to have a drink or two and enjoy a fun relaxed atmosphere. But whatever you do, DON'T PARK IN THE 789 Sherman parking lot. I paid the $5 to park, and they ticketed me anyway (for $40!) despite my polite requests that they made a mistake. Funky Buddha gets 4 stars, but I have to give the review a negative rating because of the fraudulent parking ticket given me by 789 Sherman Parking. BOGUS! If you can't park on the street, move on. They'll get you too! more

The Funky Buddha 2010 5/14/2010

***FIRST***The last time I was at the Funky Buddha was about 2 years ago and it was not cool. The ""GM"" was drunk and was harassing all the females, the music was way too ghetto, and the cocktail had an attitude. ****HOWEVER**** I recently stopped by and the Funky Buddha has changed drastically! The new GM is so cute, humble, and warm/fuzzy. I think his name was Brad or Brandon or something. The service was great, the venue itself looks sooooo different. The music is better than downtown and the drinks are cheap. I definitely recommend giving this place another glance. The cons are: the place is obviously under renovation. No bathroom downstairs was kind of inconvenient, but other than that FABULOUS. Pros: Great service, awesome manager, great music, no drama Cons: under renovations more

good dancing 2/28/2010

It sucks for the people who got over charged but I didn't experience anything like that when I came here. Was here with a buncha friends for anti valentines day, we are all recently single, and had a blast!! the pearfection martini was our drink of choice for the night and it ended up getting a little crazy. before we knew it, all 6 of us were on the dance floor breaking it down. what a fun night more

awful... this place will rip u off 12/14/2009

went there to check it out with some friends.. the female bartender tried to add shots onto my bill that we didnt take..and not to mention a few days later.. i was checking my checking account and they had ripped me off 200 dollars...dont go here. you will regret it more

Never again 8/11/2009

I went to Funky Buddha last week while on business in Denver. I spent $24.50 on drinks and added a $5.00 tip. Apparently that wasn't good enough as $54.00 in charges cleared today. Cons: Double-charging more

Charged 3 Times! Beware! 12/3/2008

My girlfriends and I went to happy hour, had the worst martini's of our lives, then came to find out that our server charged our bill 3 times on 3 different days. Still haven't heard back from them on the false charges. BEWARE, if you want to risk this place PAY IN CASH! Very sketchy, STAY AWAY! There should be a zero star option! Pros: Nothing Cons: 2 false charges. more

Females Beware 8/5/2008

went there last weekend and witnessed a girl getting groped by an agressive man. the girl tried to tell the bouncers about him and was blown off time after time, even the GM let the man stay and continue to be served alchohol and prey on other girls. would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. more

Ehhhh Skip It 3/28/2008

I went to the Buddha for the 2nd time this weekend, after not having been for a couple of years to hang with some friends. I heard the music was good and there was a pretty good gay scene. The scene was decent but the music was standard fare and so loud I could not hear the conversation unless I was 6"" away from my friends. Totally obnoxious!!! There were a couple of hot men so that was good but that's it. Skip it.... there are tons of better bars in Denver. ;0) Pros: Ok gay scene, roof top patio Cons: Music, loud, small more

Lovely staple being remodeled... Can't wait!!! 9/17/2007

The Funky Buddha has always been home to a fun, good looking staff, ranging from a low key lounge to a packed pseudo club. I have been going there for a while and have had a range of experiences all of which have been wonderful. As a single woman, it is not overly intimidating and when there is no hot men to talk to there are always the bartenders! They have a new back patio now and looks as though remodeling! Can't wait and hope in maintains that trendy 'cheers' atmosphere. Try the mojitos! A little $$$ and more of a destination place but always worth stopping in for a drink and a cigarette (you can smoke upstairs)! Pros: Trendy Cheers feel, don't feel like I am the only single woman there Cons: A little pricy, more of a destination point more

I thought this place would be classy 9/9/2007

I've always heard good things about this place. So, I was excited when a friend suggested going there on a Saturday night. The bar had a nice rooftop patio and ambience without having to deal with Lodo. Unfortunately, the patrons of this place are mostly upper 20s-30s something losers who must stay home all week trying to look cool on Myspace and then come here as their only chance to get out of the house. Additionally it's about 75% guys and 25% girls. It's a shame because this place has a lot of potential. They just need to find some classy patrons and more hot women. Pros: great patio, no cover, dj Cons: full of losers, very few women more

Great Service 6/14/2007

I just moved here from Florida and went to Funky Buddha because a lot of ppl recommended it! All I heard about it was right. The place is super nice, has a great patio, really good drinks and great service. I will definitly come back!! Oh and for the ladie that wrote the review below mine....I was there that same day and got to be a witness of what happened. I dont think you should go out to get wasted, scare other customers with your rude attitude and specialy you should never think its ok to lay and sleep on a public bar. The staff handle the situation way better than any other place would have done it!! Pros: Service, drinks and atmosphere. more

don't go 6/11/2007

What happened? I visited this club in 2006 and had a very nice experience. Last Friday, June 8, 2007 I went into happy hour alone. I had barely gotten relaxed when the waitress and manager verbally attacked me. The manager yelled at me to get out and called the police. I wasn't bothering anyone. I am single woman and I had just gotten off of work and wanted to relax at happy hour. This is not a safe or nice place to go anymore. Cons: everything now more

Good! Stay away!!! 2/15/2006

I like this place. If you all went there, I probably wouldn't. I've never gotten bad service. It wasn't crowded or too bright, so I LOVE it! I'll single-handedly keep the place open if I have to, heh-heh!!!! Pros: Dark, Good music, Unsmoky Cons: Not free, I don't live there more

Funky Lounge 12/19/2002

I don't go to a lounge for deep intimate conversatio, or to get blasted, so FB works excellent for me. We get out of LoDo, the decor and art is excellent, the waitresses are of course, sexy, and there is eye candy in abundance. Drinks are $$$, but that is to be expected from a lounge. Pros: DJ, atmosphere, patio Cons: $$$ drinks, crowded more

Horrible 11/16/2002

Expensive! Crowd is made up of wealthy yuppies who are rude and uninviting. Mostly people in there mid 30's and up. more

Overhyped 11/14/2002

If you're really into bars where you have to elbow your way through the crowd to move anywhere and where you are surrounded by people ""making the scene"" rather than enjoying a good cocktail, Funky Buddha is for you. But count me out. Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm getting more wise. Either way, I don't understand what the big deal is about this bar. It's overcrowded, overpriced and overhyped. The only positive thing I have to say about Buddha is that the decore is really quite nice. But how can you enjoy an atmosphere that's jam packed with loud, trendy singles? Give me a bar with a minimal crowd, a good cocktail and jazz music any day. Hmmm... sounds like Dazzle ..... Pros: Stylish decore Cons: Overcrowded, Loud, Scene bar more

Great Birthday! 11/5/2002

Went there for my (very old 41!) birthday - we were very well treated - even after the rowdiness increased somewhat - Jaeger and RedBull depth charges are the BEST! Thanks to Chris on the door for his assistance with the guy who broke my cellphone! Pros: Cool people, Hot waitresses, Strong drinks Cons: Heat patio more!, Turn lights up a bit, Turn music down a bit more

Funky Buddah is fine 10/6/2002

After living in Manhattan and LA, Denver nightlife is pretty dim. But the FB is pretty good. Pretty waitress who's very slow. Good music. Too small dance floor. But fewer of the ball cap knuckle heads than most venues. more
