My favorite Breakfast spot 1/12/2010

I've been eating at the waffle for over a year every chance I get. So hard to find a great breakfast spot in LA. Most breakfast places are either dirty/low quality food (dennys, griddle, etc) OR too fancy and expensive (beverly hills hotel, etc). Something about the waffle is just the perfect balance. The food is excellent and you get what you pay for. The vibe of the room is cool and I love the upstairs secret bar. The best is sitting on the patio at lunch in the summer. Pros: great vibe, diverse menu, super good food Cons: too far East more

You guys seriously charging this much for waffles? 11/19/2008

$7 for two medium sized waffles with no sides. Yeah, I'm sure that's going to go far. I mean, I'd pay that much if the waffles rocked my world but they were just good. Not spectacular, not amazing... just good. For $7 I wanted more waffle or throw in a side of something. Pros: They serve waffles Cons: Again, are you guys seriously charging this much for waffles more

Service ruined my morning! 11/16/2008

We went here for an early-ish Sunday morning breakfast, which ended up being a terrible start to our day. The service was TERRIBLE. Waitress brought me a cup of coffee, then I waited 15 minutes to get the non-dairy creamer I asked for.... and by then my coffee was cold, so I asked for a fresh cup. Another 15 minutes pass before the fresh coffee comes. Meanwhile, people around us (and screaming, chaotic children everywhere) that came in long after us were getting their plates.... so we ask the manager to check on our food. He quickly returns with our plates, COLD AS LEMONADE. Really? Did we just endure 40 minutes of screaming kids and bad service to get COLD FOOD? We left. The menu looked yummy, but honestly I didnt even eat a bite of my food so I cant say whether it was actually tasty. If you come here, maybe get a coffee next door at coffee bean, then bring a microwave to warm up your plate when it finally arrives. Pros: Menu choices looked good, nice design inside Cons: SERVICE! Coffee more

Horrible customer service and mediocre food. 10/15/2008

A pretty lousy experience overall. We waited 35 minutes for our food to finally arrive. When it did, it wasn't fresh and hot, but warm-ish and slightly soggy. The manager apologized for the wait and told us that he'd ""take care of the bill"", then the waitress came out and apologized saying something about the kitchen being crazy and that she'd cut us a big break on the bill. I noticed two groups that came in after us, who ordered after us, get served before us. What kind of system of service is that? When we finally got the bill, they credited us a lousy 7 bucks. A pretty half-assed gesture considering the price of food in that place. On top of the really bad service, the food was mediocre at best. The hype precedes the quality of this place by a long-shot. Pros: It looks neat from the outside. Cons: Mediocre food, below average service, what's the point? more

The Quiet Waffle 10/10/2008

I pass thru pretty often to get my usual which is the Four Cheese Hash with Grilled chicken (Super Yummy)...If Jinky Cafe was open as late as the Waffle i'd probably go there because i need more variety. The staff is simi friendly and many of them are really sarcasticly nice...wierdos. The Place is easy to miss but its a super cute set up....the biggest down fall is that there's no crowd at all. Everytime i go theres virtually no people....its sooo random! I've been there around dinner time in the week, around dinner time on the weekends, and even after the club on a few different occasions AND you would think with it being open so late it would be packed...instead everybody still goes to dennys a block away lol. I dont mind it not being crowded..it can b a plus BUT im a people watcher and it would just make it a little more interesting. They need to get there name out there a little more. Also even though i go often i have to admit it is a bit over priced! \r \r On here under restaurant info it says 'People Watching' ,'Cheap Eats' , and 'Valet Parking' ....i would save this is all a negative!!! I have never seen Valet unless you count the parking lot in the back that charges $8 bucks when they tell u to park your own car since the lot is so small... and the walk is far for Valet. You might as well park at the meters directly infront. That Valet is such a rip off! Pros: late hours...easy seating...central location...no crowd Cons: no crowd....high prices....no people watching....below average sservice more

McDonalds is better 9/27/2008

Go with a full wallet and Don't go hungry, the sample or should I say the servings will leave you hungry. We ordered the waffle and we were given 2 tiny squares and over priced. We decided to try a few other items as well all very small or and nothing t talk about. We had to order sides since nothing came with the waffle and what did was might have been hidden under the tiny waffle because i did not see it. The food took for ever to get to us and with the bill for 4 people to have a normal amount of food(lees then IHOP) was way over priced. Poor Quality Food, Over PricedI would Rather wait for a table at The Griddle Cafe on Cresent Hights and sunset the walk in here and get a table right away. more

I'd rather go to IHOP 9/26/2008

the burger was so sloppy i had to eat the ingredients separately. the female cashier (wish i had got her name) was rude and careless, when my friend had ordered a kid's meal to-go she refused to service. when i had told her it was for her son, she snapped, ""she does't have kids"".. can you believe that? waffles are decent but i would never go back there EVER! Pros: Cute Interior Design Cons: Everything else more

Excellent waffles, cool decor.....for a price 9/24/2008

I had breakfast at The Waffle on Tuesday, September 23rd at about 8:30 a.m. They have a nice outside seating area, and the decor is really fun. I ordered the pecan waffle and a side of bacon. The waffle was excellent, perfectly cooked it was nice and fluffy. The pecans were carmelized I believe and were excellent. The bacon was thick, well cooked (i.e. not a raw pile of fat and grease) and had a maple flavor.\r \r All in all, a great breakfast, though I found that I needed two waffles to satisfy my hunger, and with the bacon that brought the bill to $25, which was a bit steep. If I had refrained from waffle #2 I was still looking at about $15. \r \r Overall, I will definitely go back, but wish it was cheaper so I could afford to go a few times per week. Maybe they should have a ""frequent Waffler card"" so regulars wouldn't go broke there! Pros: Ambience, food, concept Cons: price more

Mediocore 7/29/2008

I ordered a vegan cobb and asked for real cheese on the side. They brought shredded cheddar - for a cobb? Strange and doesn't really work. The sticky bun waffle was good but nothing to make you go running. more

Poor on every level 7/27/2008

This is not a fake review or one motivated ulteriorly.\r \r Eating at The Waffle by far the most terrible dining experience I've had in Los Angeles.\r \r My eggs and chili were disgusting. Seriously, seriously unreal that they would serve that in ANY restaurant. Eggs were overcooked and rubbery. The chili was so greasy, so bland. It had giant chunks of overcooked, barely-ground meat. My co-diner's waffle was on par with an Eggo.\r \r I'd say that the service was bad, but there wasn't really anyone servicing our table. We waited 30 mins for our two meals. There was no hostess. All the patrons just wandered around till someone showed them to a table.\r \r Save your money, buy some Eggos, and fly to the South for Waffle house. \r \r One plus: the bloody mary was good. Pros: bloody mary Cons: everything else more

great breakfast and burgers too. 7/17/2008

Place has nice decor and great service. Very cool ambiance. Love the upstairs bar for the early evening cocktail or late night drink. Great old school diner, just what the area needed. Much more civil compared to Mel's. Pros: food, staff, decor Cons: parking more

STICKY BUN WAFFLE OMG! 7/9/2008

I have just found my most favorite waffle EVER here in Hollywood,CA. I've been to The Waffle a few times and have always ordered the roast turkey sandwich or the turkey burger. Both are good. I came in the other night and just needed to try something on the sweeter side. One of the employees suggested the Sticky Bun Waffle. Let me just say the entire rest of the meal I was silent...unless you count me gulping down my glass of ice cold milk. If you love sweets you'll love this...It's so good, you don't even care about being bad!\r I would have liked to see more of a crowd in there the other night. Even if I'm dining out by myself I love to people watch. Other than that, service was great and I left a very happy camper. Pros: Sticky Bun Waffle! Cons: Needs more of a crowd more

This place is great! They have a great selection of beer, cocktails, wine, and even a tasty vegetarian dishes. I had their blueberry waffles and it was very yummy!
