GOOD/BAD 5/5/2011

LET'S START OFF WITH THE GOOD, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, GREAT TRAINER'S, EXCELLENT WORKOUTS. TRAINER'S HELP SO MUCH AND GIVE GREAT ADVICE ALWAYS HAVE A LAUGH OR TWO WHILE WORKING OUT. NOW THE BAD, LET ME SAY I AM A MEMBER AT EQUINOX AND MY GYM IS SPOT LESS. TRINITY FAILS AT THAT. THEIR WALLS AND CEILINGS ARE BOTH CHIPPING THERE PIPES WHEN GOING TO LOCKER ROOM ON CEILING ARE BLACK MIND YOU THEIR WHITE. BATHROOM'S CAN USE MORE WORK : NEW SHOWER CURTAINS , EXTRA AMENITIES. PAYING 200 - 250 FOR MEMBERSHIP NOBODY SHOULD HAVE ANYTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. THEIR WORKOUT FLOOR IS DIRTY YOU CAN FIND WATER BOTTLES , MOUTH GUARDS ALL OVER THE RING, GYM EQUIPMENT IS OLD MATS , BALLS ETC .. AT OTHER GYM'S THEY UPDATE THEIR EQUIPMENT EVERY 5 MONTHS TO A YEAR THE LATEST. THEY SHOULD HAVE TOWEL SHELFS INSTEAD OF THEM BEING DISPLAY ON A DESK WHERE WORKERS MAY EAT TIME TO TIME. WHEN I HAD ATTENDED THIS GYM AS A INTRO TO BOXING MEMBERSHIP I WAS HONESTLY DISAPPOINTMENT AT A TRAINER WHO I MUST SAY AND PLEASE FOR GIVE ME IS A TRUE RED NECK. EVER DISRESPECTFUL, CURSES A STORM AND COMPLAINS ABOUT THE MUSIC I RATHER HEAR CURSES ON MUSC THEN COMING OUT HIS MOUTH . I EVEN CAUGHT HIM SMOKING WEED IN FRONT OF THE GYM I LIVE 2 BLOCKS AWAY CAUGHT HIM IN THE PARK WITH MEMBERS SMOKING, EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM WAS BAD I DID PADS WITH HIM AND LEARN NOTHING BUT HOW TO PULL SOMETHING , WHEN TRAINING WITH OTHER'S I LEARN THE CORRECT STAND AND MOTION'S . I MUST SAY THIS ESTABLISHMENT MUST IMPROVE I LOVE THE TRAINERS THEY SHOULD ME A LOT BUT THE GYM ITSELF NEEDS IMPROVEMENT AND FAST BEFORE THEY SHUT DOWN IF THEY WERE TO CLEAN FLOORS, POLISH WOOD, RE PAINT FOR THE KIDS AT LEAST, TAKE BETTER CARE OF BATHROOMS, AND FIRING THAT ONE TRAINER. I WOULD NOT MIND PAYING FOR A MEMBERSHIP AND REFERRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO THIS GYM . IMPROVEMENT IS KEY. more

Best Gym In Town 2/20/2011

What's a 52 year old woman doing at a BOXING GYM? Getting in the best shape of my life that's what! I've pretty much done it all - weights, classes, cycling, and marathoning but boxing is by far the best workout I've ever had. Ladies, if you're intimidated by a boxing gym you have no worries at Trinity. No one there expects me to become a professional boxer (unless you want to be) but the trainers treat you like you are one. My goal is to get a great workout, learn a new skill, and HAVE FUN! I'm acheiving my goal at Trinity. As a result I'm stronger, more agile, and healthier than I've ever been. And I'm much more confident in everything I do. more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 11/11/2010

Don't go here!! Except for a select few, the trainers are absolute dogs. They routinely cheat on their spouses and girlfriends with gym members and get away with it because they all lie for each other. The trainers routinely make sexual advances towards female gym members, and one was so forward that he recently was fired. Though, in my opinion, nearly all of them should be fired. The membership is very expensive...and to be sexually harassed on top of it? It's simply unacceptable. On top of being crude and unprofessional, the trainers consistently snuck in drinks on Friday nights when the boss left early. By the end of the night, most of the trainers were drunk and paid little, if any, attention to the members who were looking for pad holders. Any other night of the week, they could be found sitting around and gossiping or tinkering with their phones instead of working. It was only after a few months of training that I realized the full extent of the corruption and the disgraceful quality of the people who worked at this gym. Don't waste your money by training here if you're a female... there's no need to subject yourself to that type of environment. **Note this is mainly for women. Most of the male members I knew never had a problem, except for the trainers' lack of attention. more

FANTABULOUS Workout and People 12/17/2008

I was working in NYC for 4 months, and decided to give boxing a try. I came across Trinity and decided to check it out. I visited the gym to get a feel for what it was, and instantly was drawn to it. No Trial Lesson needed, I instantly knew I'd love it!! The gym has an energetic atmosphere that really inspires you to get in the boxing mood, at least it did me. Pros: Great Training Staff, Great Atmosphere Cons: Can't think of any! more

Highly recommended 5/13/2008

I can't say enough about the level of customer service. I work in the city, but I have a pretty substantial commute. I signed up for a six-month membership at Trinity, but I only went to the gym a few times before I realized that the commute was too much. John, the owner, was fantastic. He let me out of my contract without any hassle, and had I lived closer, I would definitely have continued at the gym. Cozy, friendly, but very hard work! Pros: great trainers, great work-out Cons: Very physically demanding! more

Trinity became my family. 4/25/2008

Trinity is not just a gym, it's not even only a boxing gym, trinity is family. Once you start going there it is impossible to quit, because of the graeta work out, good and experienced trainers, atmosphere. No matter who you are, you will Trinity as a fighter. Trinity made me stronger not only physically, it made me stronger as a person. I joined trinity about a year ago and started going almost everyday, but a couple of months ago I had to move out from nyc, I come back as often as I can, so I just can go to trinity and box. Trinity is the place I will never stop coming back to. Pros: Great boxing experience, great trainers, atmosphere, great work out, convenient hours for anyone Cons: haven't discovered any more

Excellent Trainer Great Workout 2/19/2008

I just had a trial session and I loved it. The trainer I had Olek (spelling?) was awesome, he was attentive in correcting my form and really seemed like an experienced instructor. And I have little experience in boxing. I felt really comfortable and challenged! Pros: Attentive trainers more

It's not a BOXing club----------it's Buisness club 2/17/2008

It's used to be boxing club, but the best trainers are fired already. So,my opinion----I know personally owners and I confirm-those persons are not serious and professional. It's not professional sport club, you just waste your money. more

Trinity - plenty of genuine soul 6/21/2007

To the client who thinks the soul has been gutted from Trinity...well you just have not worked out with Russell. I've risen to a new fitness and skill level since Russell and John have come on board. They don't just tell me what to do, they explain WHY I'm doing it. And if you think the trainers are not paying attention...just try to slack off a little. Pros: staff, atmosphere, Martin's hilarious videos Cons: none that I can think of more

Great Gym 6/18/2007

Amazing workout.. you will ache once u r done. It is the best workout I have ever had. I lost 22 pounds of fat in 3 months.. and it is still off. more

It Used to be a GREAT gym 5/27/2007

I joined this gym because I thought it was both fun and serious - and as a woman, I wanted to be challenged and not treated differently from the male boxers. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, largely because of the trainers - they MAKE Trinity. But then it started to change. It's become more and more like a Crunch or an Equinox, with people coming in and pretending to enjoy boxing when all they want is to ""aerobicize"". And now they've gotten rid of Junior. With that, they basically gutted the last part of genuine soul from the place. He was the glue that held that place together. I agree with the other commentor that said it's now just like any other gym. I dunno if I'll be going there now as regularly as I have.. more

What Else Could You Want?! 5/24/2007

This is the best gym! It's hard to stay away from the place. Even when I'm feeling so low-energy or just emotionally down and I don't want to do anything, going to Trinity Boxing Club brings me up. As soon as I walk through the doors of Trinity I feel like yelling ""Honey, I'm home"". It is really that level of comfort and ease that keeps me going there. I train hard most days, but just knowing I got through a workout there makes me feel great. The staff is wonderful. They are friendly and supportive and they know what they're doing. I have less fights with my husband and children, less stress at work, more energy and stamina, Pros: Friendly & Energetic Atmosphere, Great Staff, Awesome Workout. Cons: Cardio & Weights Could Be Updated. more

Turning into another run of the mill gym. 5/21/2007

My name really says it all. GREAT place but it has lost itself with Junior and Marty ( mostly ) gone, also with all the talk in the gym it's like a soap opera. I hope this wakes you guys up because we are losing a very special, and Bring Back Junior !!! We need him! Pros: Great people, clean, fun. Cons: No more bounce since Junior. more

Great and friendly staff, good atmosphere 5/21/2007

Very helpful and friendly staff, good equips, and great attention given. I started out as a novice and took the introductory 8 sessions for $200, and received close to the level of attention i would from a personal trainer, in a more fun environment, for well under half the price. Much enjoyed. Come at lunch for more quiet and personal approach, early mornings or evenings for crowds and atmosphere Pros: Service, ambience, history Cons: Not really there for the exercise machines, but they could do with updating the machines, esp. the reclining bike more

Old School is new again 5/16/2007

I'm the guy who's been saying for like 8 years that, ""I'm going to start working out...real soon."" After a lot of money wasted on unused gym memberships over the years a friend brought me to Trinity to try it out. I've been training 4 times a week for the past 4 months and I give it my strongest recommendation. If they can motivate me and get me in shape, there must be no one they cant help. I think the key is the ""Old School"" training methods which never get repetitive or boring and where nothing is wasted. Everything you do helps you in the ring. Also the trainers with such ease are able to get you beyond your fear thresholds and what you thought were your physical limitations. It's like they just expect it, so you do it. I've gotten many comments about how different I look, asked if I've been working out, lost weight, etc. But the best benefit to me has been the mental toughness I've acquired. In meetings, on difficult projects, stress from the boss and co-workers, etc. this may sound cheesy, but it's kind of like in the movie Fight Club, most people I'm around outside of the gym just don't have the power to intimidate me anymore. What are they gonna do, h*t me? I get h*t most days and I h*t back. Pros: Good for the novice and the pro more

Best thing you'll ever do; Changed my life 5/15/2007

I went to Trinity Boxing when my friend who lives in the building next door dragged me there kicking and screaming. I said I didn?t feel like working out, but the truth was that I was completely intimidated at the idea of stepping inside a boxing gym. Once I got inside, however, I found all my expectations shattered. First off, I was surprised at the fun atmosphere. Large open windows let in the breeze, inspirational quotes on large canvases hang from ceiling and upbeat workout music mixes with the hypnotic sound of gloves on bags. (That sound alone gets you pumped up.) As far as the staff, I immediately felt as if I was amongst friends. The trainers made me feel completely at home and not at all intimidated while they personally guided me through every step of the first day?s training?from jumping rope, stretching and conditioning to shadow boxing, bag work and getting in the ring. I worked one-on-one with different trainers who kicked my butt with the hardest workout ever, while at the same time showing me the proper form and giving me the confidence that I could actually pick this up. I would have bet you $1,000 going in that I would absolutely hate it, but after an hour in the gym, I was ready to sign up for a year membership. That was six months ago. I?m now completely addicted to boxing and go 4-5 times per week. Working on both coasts, I train at Trinity?s LA and NY gyms, and at 35, I?m now in the best shape of my life. I was not in terrible shape before, but I definitely have stepped it up to the next level with boxing e.g. I cross-trained at Trinity for the marathon and beat everyone in my running group by 30 minutes. I?m much more confident and positive about things, and I can honestly say that going to Trinity has completely transformed my body and mind, allowing me to face life?s everyday stresses with ease. Several of my friends have been so impressed by my transformation that they?ve started training, too. It?s also a good first date. Pros: Great upbeat atmosphere. Positive, helpful friendly staff. Best workout ever. more

The very best place there is to train - anywhere. 5/2/2007

This is the most comfortable atmosphere anyone could imagine. The staff is a highly skilled group of professionals, yet each person, from the owners on down treats every member in a very personal manner, with respect and consideration. Trinity proves that you can operate a totally serious gym able to cater to professional-level training needs and still maintain a place where the novice athlete can come and fit right in. I've known the owners for a number of years, dating back to previous facilities they owned and operated. The ethics have remained consistent throughout: provide a high-quality training facility; allow no crude personalities or oversized egos to be part of the membership; and treat every person who walks in the door like a friend, someone you want to keep coming back. Because of a business transfer I now live in North Carolina and can only visit the gym on return trips to NY for business, maybe just a few times a year. But because of the friendship that has always been extended to me, I know I can walk in the door anytime and feel like I'm home again. To sum it up: if you're ambition is to be a contender - then this is absolutely the place to train - the best place. And if you're not a serious competitor, but someone who just enjoys the workout and the fun of it all - then this is absolutely the place to train - the best place... and it's all because of the people. Congratulations from Anthony - to Martin, John and the staff. more

Nice people to befriend, apathetic as trainers 4/26/2007

They say you get unlimited 1 on 1 training here, but the thing is that after a few rounds of mitt work in the ring, they leave you on your own. For someone new to the sport, I signed up for some individualized work, but was disappointed pretty quickly. This isn't to say that the people are bad, it's just the trainers sit around and will occasionally point out things here and there, but no one really cares if you get better or not, which for the price they charge should be their primary concern. Pros: Facilities, Equipment Cons: Price, Personal Attention more
