I went to Trinity Boxing when my friend who lives in the building next door dragged me there kicking and screaming. I said I didn?t feel like working out, but the truth was that I was completely intimidated at the idea of stepping inside a boxing gym. Once I got inside, however, I found all my expectations shattered. First off, I was surprised at the fun atmosphere. Large open windows let in the breeze, inspirational quotes on large canvases hang from ceiling and upbeat workout music mixes with the hypnotic sound of gloves on bags. (That sound alone gets you pumped up.) As far as the staff, I immediately felt as if I was amongst friends. The trainers made me feel completely at home and not at all intimidated while they personally guided me through every step of the first day?s training?from jumping rope, stretching and conditioning to shadow boxing, bag work and getting in the ring. I worked one-on-one with different trainers who kicked my butt with the hardest workout ever, while at the same time showing me the proper form and giving me the confidence that I could actually pick this up. I would have bet you $1,000 going in that I would absolutely hate it, but after an hour in the gym, I was ready to sign up for a year membership. That was six months ago. I?m now completely addicted to boxing and go 4-5 times per week. Working on both coasts, I train at Trinity?s LA and NY gyms, and at 35, I?m now in the best shape of my life. I was not in terrible shape before, but I definitely have stepped it up to the next level with boxing e.g. I cross-trained at Trinity for the marathon and beat everyone in my running group by 30 minutes. I?m much more confident and positive about things, and I can honestly say that going to Trinity has completely transformed my body and mind, allowing me to face life?s everyday stresses with ease. Several of my friends have been so impressed by my transformation that they?ve started training, too. It?s also a good first date.
Pros: Great upbeat atmosphere. Positive, helpful friendly staff. Best workout ever.
