San Francisco's Finest Hotel Experience 1/26/2011

The moment you arrive at the elegant entrance of the St. Regis Hotel San Francisco, you are greeted by courteous and helpful valets; the reception and concierge staff is well-spoken, tactful, and always smiling! This 5 star Starwood Hotel epitomizes understated luxury, because the extravagance doesn't need to be boasted, it is expected.\r \r I love the simple elegance to the design of the lobby. Modern furniture, marble floors, large glass doors, and the sleek fire stone feature in the lobby . It's a perfect hotel for an executive trip as well as a vacation getaway. \r \r I stayed here for 3 nights for the NASFT Winter Fancy Food Show which was just a block away at Moscone Center. The Yerba Buena Gardens and MLK JR Memorial are also right across the street and visible from the balcony on the 4th floor outside of Vitrine restaurant where I enjoyed a casually fancy breakfast every morning.\r \r I've also stayed at the Intercontinental which is classy, but if you want a fine boutique hotel experience with more personal attention and luxury at every turn: you must stay at the St. Regis.\r \r It is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The hallways are nice and dark and you will almost never see housekeeping dragging around cleaning carts. St. Regis Housekeeping seems to mysteriously sneak in and clean up without being seen! There are remote buttons for ""do not disturb"" as well as ""make up room"" services. The two large windows have remote controlled roman shades which can let in as much or as little light as you desire.\r \r My suite was superb with a foyer and large mirror and entry table, and hallway leading to the bedroom which featured a large jacuzzi tub in the center opening up to the grand bathroom. Floor to ceiling sleek wooden walls in the bedroom featured a 46 inch LCD television, and hidden closet and mini bar behind the wooden wall. The St Regis offers every luxury including turn-down service every evening. I once left a belt on the floor just before dinner and found my room picked up and my decorative pillows along the window sill and sheets turned down upon returning.\r \r Some of my favorite luxuries were the comfortable chaise lounge where i worked from my laptop (wi-fi available for a very reasonable price-$40.00 for my 3 night stay), the separate desk area and large marble tiled window sill, automatic shades, safe large enough to fit my laptop, LCD TV in the bathroom, telephone in restroom, marble lined rainfall shower behind the floor to ceiling glass doors, jacuzzi with access from bedroom, and luxurious bed to name a few!\r \r How many hotels boast a Michelin star rated restaurant on premise? The St. Regis is home to Ame (see my review). The St. Regis Lobby Bar is also a great place to mingle, have a business meeting over cocktails, or have a bite to eat. \r \r I enjoyed my stay, and I recommend the St. Regis San Francisco to anyone traveling for pleasure or business! Top-knotch! \r more

Best luxury hotel in the city 8/14/2006

This is the best ulta-lux hotel in the city. Everything from the sparkling rooms complete with plasma screen TVs and stuning views to the butler service is perfect! The gym is very nice, and has quite a lot of equipment and has sauna/steam facilities. My previous favorite luxury hotel was The Four Seasons, but I think this has replaced it on my personal list of faves. more
