tristanwolf, it sounds like your ""review"" is more of a complaint about the gentrification of the LES rather than an actual review of the bar. All things considered, most any bar on the LES (unfortunately) now attracts a large crowd of frat guys and the like on weekend nights. But inspite of the over esteemed frat kids that bombard the entire neighborhood, The Sixth Ward does well keeping the crowd and noise level under control. Maybe its not ""your"" type of place on weekends, but how about giving it a go on a week night or at happy hour or even Saturday and Sunday Brunch. Even I tend to steer clear of almost all the LES bars on the crazy Friday and Saturday nights. That's not to say that there aren't some fun, not so Frat-overrun weekend nights. I've had plenty of fun nights with other neighborhood locals, low-key friends, artists, musicians and the like on a Friday and Saturday night at the Sixth Ward too. And if you're into the late night scene, most of the jocks clear out around 2 AM anyway and its great to wind down back in what is very much a warm and welcoming neighborhood bar towards the end of the night. The bartenders and servers are some of the friendliest folks ever, the food is really quite delicious and the drink specials are awesome. The outdoor beer garden is also a plus on nice weather days. Plus they have a separate billiards and game room too. Ultimately I'd say that inspite of the massive gentrification that's been going on, The Sixth Ward brings back to the LES the homeyness and friendliness of what a neighborhood hangout should be.
Pros: Great Drink Specials, Beer Garden, Unlimited Mimosas w/Brunch, Friendly Staff
Cons: Weekend Nights can get crowded
